This was actually more helpful information about the NC Miata than I've found in any other TH-cam review. A lot of videos don't show detailed shots of the interior or how the top goes up and down. Thank you, sir! I'm about to get one of these as my daily driver on Saturday.
I just picked up an 08 6spd grand touring NC, with 71k that needs a top and a windshield but has a 11 inch lowering and front/rear sway bar adjustable suspension kit. It handles better than my 06 325ix did. I love this car more everyday! Perfect, only if you are under 6'.
I have always wanted a miata. Just picked up an 08 6spd NC with a 1" lowering suspension kit. Anyone who has one if these cars needs to take note, it handles like nothing else I have ever driven. I love this car more everyday!
Excuse me, is there anywhere I can go for people with addiction problems? I mean, I just got an nc five weeks ago and I cant stop driving it. My last car was a Jag xk8 so I thought Id have to at least get an Aston to top that but I dont have the money. I got this to see me through but its turned into a real keeper. Be warned: these cars are addictive and there aint no cure!!!
Why do so many reviewers seem bemused about the NC having 4 cup holders ? The two in the centre are for cups, the ones in the door are for bottles and cans. The owner's handbook explains what they're for.
Hey, they have other uses as well. I keep sunshades and a window duster in the driver's door cup holder and a bag of mints in the centre one. I believe there's an aftermarket drop in ash tray for smokers. These cars are SO much fun.....mine's a keeper ;-).
the nd cupholders are worthless too as is the storage. the nc is the way to go; I got a hardtop convertible 6 speed and love it. tried the 17rf nd and the lack of storage is annoying; no glovebox to save a few ounces etc etc, plus the wind buffeting on the highway with the rf top down is horrendous. I fit better in the nc also. was ready to buy 1 but the nc is a much roomier cabin and the prht is a masterpiece. just my opinion but so many complain on the nc and I can't see why. the na, nb are for midgets imo and the rf nd is not far behind. the cars are a blast to drive thou.
Had my NC for 8 years now and I still love it. A word of caution. Don't slam the top back when you open it. The top latches down by a single block of very hard plastic but it can break. Mine did but fortunately I was still parked. If that block had failed on the highway the top probably would have opened like a sail. Bad news. Also be sure to have your rims cleaned regularly. My tires start leaking air periodically. Remember there is NO spare tire for this car, not even a donut. Enjoy.
There is a way to get the soft top to not "bulge" out like here. But I have to get out of the car and push down on the window from the outside. It fits much better that way and tucks in very nicely.
blackxfire04 , It will wear in and fall better with time. I had my nc from new in 2006. Still going...👌🏽🤙🏽 Takes no more than 3secs to pop off the roof. Quick tip: open the windows a tiny bit on each side for easier operation, give her a nice push and off she goes🤙🏽
so far its good... was worried about the auto trans but i bought an extended warranty so it should be covered... much more car than my 92 miata... was impressed with the handling and power ,,,the 2.0 seems to be a great lil engine.. what about you?
What? Have you seen Imufur's comment below? I've got the 1.8 (no traction control) and it can embarrass my average skills when leaving a wet roundabout!!...and I used to be in a syndicate for a Group N Ford RS 2000 rally car so I've got a fair bit of sideways experience. Do you live in a dry part of the world or somewhere with relatively few bends and corners, maybe?
I got an 2006 NC1 also removed that restrictive exhaust header with an Skunk2 alpha header and then put an A.E.M. cold air intake, then to top it off with a Tune from Fab 9. This car fly's, dives into corners like it's on rails ! the burbles are intoxicating.
i bought one with retractable hard top but when i got home i realized the one i bought didnt have traction or stability control, a bit scary but oh well
4:00 as shown here It should be obvious. See the lift arms? The pinch weld is about four inches in from the outside that runs the length between the tires has reinforced spots to put any jack on. They look like this Front of car --O --__-----------__--- O- Rear
@@TheCohesiveGarage Thanks. I'm sure a floor jack can be used to jack the rear up by placing the jack on the differential. I was wondering if there's a place on the front that be used to raise the front end without jacking at the pinch weld.
Hell yeah, such a beauty of a car! Got mine this year, a facelift model with full specs! Love it! So I am thinking how much of an improvement a better air filter or even a cold air intake would make. Do you guys know?
I have just bought a 07 Miata and it is the same spec as the video (Highland Green, Cloth seats, 6 speed manual) and I absolutely love it. My car has 31600 miles on it so It's practically brand new.
dont know why and the hell people puts this car down its a great car better than the 1st 1 but i do miss the pop up head lights this car has more room and and a bigger motor i got the 2007 power retractable hard top im lovin it
I'm about to pick one up. As a second weekend car. A lot of people hate on the NC cause it's the heaviest and chunkiest miata. I'm getting it cause it's the safest cheap miata. The only downside for me is that you can't track it without a roll bar. There's the frs but that hasn't really come down and price yet, plus I already have a civic sedan. You could roll cage the Miata but then it isn't really safe as a weekend car.
There is something wrong with the roof, it runs smoothly without any additional pushes, 2 second operation, check if the textile is properly mounted or the links of frame are moving easily, these "ears" around back should also completly fold below the body line.
The OP has forgotten to drop the windows first before closure. This saves a lot of wear n tear on the frame seals and keeps everything water tight around the panes. The extra benefit is that the roof catch sits into the windscreen frame without any need to physically urge it forward. I've waited 20 years for my MX5, I've had it 7 months now, it's a mobile anti-depressant :-)
I bought a 08 Sport 5spd M in April this year and noticed the recently replaced softtop had those ears. From what I found online is if the rivets aren't installed on the new softtop that those corners don't get pulled in. I also read some people purposely leave those rivets out and manually by hand fold the corners in which is said to extend the life of the soft top. The reason why is this is a reinforced area that is prone to tearing over the years from the stress of the riveted tabs pulling the corners in. When I was shopping I noticed a few that had tears in that place. I opted to leave mine alone and I manually fold in the corners in hopes I can prevent the stress tears. It isn't as ideal but not bad as I do need to get out of the car and fold them in before I latch the top all the way down. Not a huge issue as I can still drop the top quickly with the ears and tuck them in later. It of course doesn't affect putting the top back up. To me it is a small price to pay to help my top last longer as this is a fun car for me and I leave the top down most of the time if I can see the car from the restaurtants/stores I enter. Once the kids are a bit older they can fold one side with me to make it even faster. Still wish I would have just spent the extra 2-3k and bought the PRHT as this would have been easier for the wife, more weather proof and more secure. Overall I am happy with my purchase for $9k with 36,000 miles with new softtop. It was a motorcycle replacement option for me as the kids grow up. Far easier to take them along then always gearing up/down the kids before a ride on the MC.
You're not gonna regret it! Pro tip: Get one with the Bilstein Suspension and put some proper sway bars in it. It's gonna handle like a go-kart. Source: Just did that with my NC2

I just got an NC about 3 weeks ago with 54,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it.
Got a 2008 Nc mx5 PRHT 6 speed 2.0l running 120k miles so far. Still hauls ass.

any scratchy plastics?
Damn I got an NA with miles close to that, 59k original miles

I just got an 07 NC
Great choice! The MX 5 a fine motor, fun and reliable to own.
i got the 2007 grand touring poer hard top and i love mine but i do miss the pop up head headlights i had the 1997 miata best car i have ever had

More HP tempted too floor it! TH-cam rife with drivers crashing
Supercars!
When you get the 2.0l it gets quick.

My favorite part about my NC is the false sound tube that runs the engine sound into the cabin. I don’t know why it’s so funny to me! :)

I love the sound of a nice cold air intake on a miata. Improves power just a little but puts a smile on my face every time I hit the gas.

David Stefanowicz Exactly why I'm getting one too. You also seem to be the only other person who realizes a rollcage is deadly on the street!
How is the rollcage dangerous on the street?
IDk why people complain being heavy. I own the hard top model with the 2.0l, it moves dude.
love my NC 2012

@MrKj202 what's the difference between nc1 &nc2?
I love the NC generation, found a few just like this one in my area for under $7,000 but quite a few thousand miles patience is key I guess lol
And I love the tow hitch factor because at least I can tow my Kayak for when I want to go Kayak fishing no problemo for me hehe
Most likely getting this in the next yr or two hopefully before I graduate high school lol
Awesome video!
