In the original they weren't NPCs but I think SWE thought something along the lines of "no one is this stupid to fall for such an obvious trap.... unless..." and then they made them NPCs to make sense of their stupidity.
There's also the fact that they were more just decorations to add numbers rather than characters. So they are NPC's because they sure as hell didn't have personalities.
9:22 Matty/Izzy the voice of Kirito and main editor had quite a perfectionism problem of adding this kind of edits for continuity or effect that almost no one would ever notice. Only lately he was finally able to tone it down, since the production scale has gone up to the point of almost completely reworking the original narrative of the second arc, requiring insane levels of editing and already taking very long time to produce, that he had to finally give up on going too deep with that and get some assistant editors which he wouldn't allow before either.
Since no one commented last time about it apparantly: Yes, we love that you include the captions and I recommend them for every abridged series that has them...watching abridged series for almost 10 years now, I never realized how many details/background conversations I missed until I rewatched them after devoted fans added subtitles to every major abridged series. They're usually so dense with content, rewatching them with subs was like a new experience. (edit: ...aaaand she turned them off. I'm just gonna cry into this cushion then lol) On a side note: I hope this path of yours will eventually lead you to watch Little Kuriboh's "Naruto Ninjabridge" series...it's one of my favorites but has become way underrated over the years. It's like the equivalent to YGO Abridged as what Hellsing Abridged was to DBZA, the very short and sweet 2nd child by one of the best creators in the scene.
@chicago reacts: Yes to subs, but just regular english subs. Don't do any canadian subs. Even the writers of the shows like TFS and SWE do not recommend the canadian captions until like your third or 4th rewatch.
Which is an ironic way to end that sentence, given that, in the real show, they went into that higher level dungeon just to farm kol for furniture for their new guild house!
@15:03 I seen Galavant, it was a pretty funny show from what little I remembered. So I went back to listen to a few songs "Today we rise" is my favorite so far. Merry Christmas everyone.
There are 2 videos ("The Genius of Sword Art Online Abridged" on the channel "Explanation Point") that I HIGHLY recommend reacting to after you finish episode 11
5:03 I started playing this video leaving Christmas dinner going back home through the country area and the video froze right here until I got service back. It was an interesting coincidence.
12:40 Merry Christmas. They were actually other characters and "Gary" didn't escape because the room cancelled the teleportation crystal's effect and destroyed it upon activation. 13:30 He jumped off the bridge out of grief because they went to the dungeon without telling him
@@ChicagoReacts also because they all were irl friends that joined the game together, like at a AudioVideo club at school, and so he lost all his irl friends right there.
St Nicholas is not the patron saint of prostitutes, but it is a common misconception because one of the stories about him involves him saving some young women from becoming prostitutes by secretly slipping money to cover some kind of payment (I think it was a dowry so they could get married or something like that).
One thing that always bothered me about the item from "Santa" was that it really could revive people as long as it was within a few seconds after them dying. While that makes it too late to save Sachi and co but the fact they DIDN'T KEEP IT AROUND to save others made me lose my mind.
I always assumed it was just used offscreen by either Kirito or Klein. There were huge time skips and many ppl died. I cannot imagine Japanese protagonist seeing his comrade dying and going “nah, he is not worth it, gotta wait for more dramatic moment”
@chicago reacts: Yes to subs, but just regular english subs. Don't do any canadian subs. Even the writers of the shows like TFS and SWE do not recommend the canadian captions until like your third or 4th rewatch.
I advise against using captions for a FIRST viewing. Comedy relies heavily on timing, and seeing the punchline before it is delivered can really damage a joke, even if it's still funny. However, I do recommend captions when you re-watch, because there is likely stuff that you missed the first time around and you already are familiar with the jokes you already heard.
Normally I'd agree but in the case of SAOA Something Witty does the captions themselves and they are not just there for if you miss what was said, they add extra jokes and clarifications in the subtitles that I feel generally enhance even a first time viewing. There is a joke (i think in episode 15 or 16) that makes much more sense in tandem with the captions, and another sequence in episode 10 that is much easier to follow with the captions clarifying who is speaking. It does work without the captions but I think it's definitely enhanced by having them on. Aside from that throughout they just have generally amusing descriptions of sounds or music stings etc. especially in the newer episodes.
black cats were all people and dead the bridge scene the girl was weakest and didn't want to get everyone killed. made enough money to buy a house for all the friends to live in. Last guy found out then jumped off a bridge Then a recorded messages. if you are watching this I am dead and it is not your fault thanks for being a friend. (paraphrase) Santa drop a resurrection item and it only works if used within 10 seconds after death
The actual birthdate of Jesus is debated, of course. I'm not completely versed in it, but my understanding regarding the arguments for which: Some believe Jesus must have been born in the warmer months, due to them letting the sheep out to graze around the time of his birth. This is somewhat flawed, however, as the weather in that region of the world stays warm enough for that to be both safe and necessary for the sheep that time of year. As for why December is celebrated as his birth month, it has to do with both Catholic tradition, old theological documents, and also the description of events in the bible. John the Baptist was born roughly six months before Jesus. And his father was a priest of a specific order, which served on a rotational shift at the temple. John being born during his fathers Temple rotation implies he was born in the summer. If Jesus was born six months later, he would indeed have been born either in or around December. That's about all I know regarding both arguments. I'm sure this all needed to be said in the comments of an SAO abridged reaction video. Edit: Also, it's true. St. Nicholas was the patron saint of Children, Prostitutes, and sailors. It makes a ton more sense when you learn his history.
In the original they weren't NPCs but I think SWE thought something along the lines of "no one is this stupid to fall for such an obvious trap.... unless..." and then they made them NPCs to make sense of their stupidity.
Also the teleport crystals weren’t working in this trap, so all of them except Kirito just died.
There's also the fact that they were more just decorations to add numbers rather than characters. So they are NPC's because they sure as hell didn't have personalities.

16:00 so the item was a revival item but it could only be used like a few minutes after death. So it was already too late.
so it's a good thing to have on you before hand then. Well. At least she got some XP?
iirc, it had a time limit of ten seconds

WE MUST SAVE MY FAMILY!
See? Some of them even have faaaa...Gary.
12:38 they were actual characters but they had such little relevance they may as well have been furniture

awesome. I've seen the vids come up in my Recommended, and I had planned on watching them, but it definitely helps to know when!
15:38 Gotta admit, seeing Lauren and Jack Dapper sharing brain cells got a laugh from me.

I've seen Galavant and loved it!
Also, the +_50 charisma from the hat comes back later as well.
Nice timing with this episode 😂

Thank you for the video upload best gift I got this year.
Note: Remember the guy from the tutorial, it will be referenced again later.
oh that hat in the abridged series make multiple comebacks.
2:30 no he was rose from his grave on Easter Sunday.
My favorite Galavant song is "ass in a can"
That is a good one. I have a fondness for 'Worst thing Ever' and 'Good Day to Die' and 'Today We Rise.' I find it so hard to choose!
Merry xmas louren and kit. Love yall
Love your reactions
Perfect timing!
I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW- I have in fact, seen all of Galavant.
Only the best Christmas stories start in April!

Galavant is one of the few musicals I enjoy. Badly underrated.
SO, so underrated.
I loved Galavant. It deserved better.
Great stuff. Only gets better
merry christmas!
merry christmas!
SWE like to hide jokes in the captions so I recommend only having them off to read any text they cover
