Toronto SLOW TTC Subway Ride | Glencairn to St Patrick Station

- Join me on an eventful TTC subway ride from the Glencairn Station to St. Patrick Station. While the TTC works well when it does, there are several slow zones implemented on Line 1 that made this journey to Downtown Toronto much longer than it needed to be.

They are doing lots of track work/maintenance on various segments of the line. Unfortunatley it’s been going on for months so we’ve been dealing with longer and slower than normal travel times.
There's a lot of track work going on which isn't really communicated too well.

It is too slow for me in that area to attempt to go anywhere near the downtown area so I dont bother if I am not going to the Skydome, Ripleys or the Zoo which is not in the downtown area but the park is reachable via the 86 bus which stops near Guildwood Go Station and in the summer months the 85, I do have to go through that area (in your video) of the Yonge University Spadina line to get to Union Station

@@johnli25, five o' clock is not off peak, but is rush hour; this is the farthest end of the Yonge-University line (aka Line 1) and there's not many people here at this station, for whatever reason.
It's not really a popular time to be riding the subway for this direction.
I was hoping to see a Toronto subway video from you while you were here last month and I’m watching it now. Glencairn is my local subway station, I’m a 3 minute walk from the station. Unfortunately, these speed zones have plagued Line 1 on and off for months and it’s been frustrating using it to get to downtown and back. There are so many issues with the tracks which is why trains have to slow down to a snail’s pace to avoid derailment. I still like our subway system but not the state it’s in right now.

It's like the NYC Subway when there's service changes. They have to create slow zones to protect the workers working on the tracks. It's really not a good look on the TTC to not make announcements like the MTA does when the train is stopped.

If I'm not mistaken I do think between Eglinton West and St.Clair stations is the longest route
Toronto subway is way better, cleaner, more reliable (other than the speed zones) and safer than NYC subway. NYC subway is the complete opposite.
Huh? Other than being a tad bit cleaner, the TTC is none of those things in relation to the NYC subway system (with its 24-hour service) You must be thinking of the beautiful Montreal metro. Toronto’s subway is totally underwhelming for a city of that size.
@@AaTt-n5e No I’m not. Montreal metro absolutley sucks, hated using it when I lived there. Toronto’s is far more superior, yes it may be small but there are a few lines under construction to serve connectivity.

@@AaTt-n5eThe Montreal metro has very ugly and outdated stations that have homeless people living in them, trains with no AC, very dark and creepy and it’s not reliable. Also anybody working on the metro do not like English speakers and when there’s a delay it’s very chaotic and it falls apart. The Toronto subway is far better with colourful stations, proper maintenance/cleaning, less crime than before, very accessible friendly and is expanding rapid transit coverage a lot more than Montreal. Only problem is also their delays but it’s not as bad as STM.
