- I wasn't happy with my last video of the decorative twisted bars so I had another go and this time it came out much better! I also show a way of finishing off any bar end with a quick cheat! #GaryHuston #Blacksmithing #Farrier #ASMR #Horseshoeing #Fabrication #Ironwork #Hoofcare #welder #repairs #horse #farriery #engineering
Wow. That is quite an impressive piece there sir. You certainly know what you're doing around that anvil.
I loved it, this cable is amazing.
Congratulations on your wonderful art.
Best regards from Brazil.
We did this project last night. My friend liked it as well. Thanks for the info.
great video! great handle. thanks
that is beautiful.....i have welding rod......im going to try somthing similar....you are an awesome smith
I just got an order for a sword. This will definitely be the handle. Thank you so much!
Very nice thank you for sharing that nut video
nice handle
got to try it once
Very nice. You could also build up a ball on the end with brazing wire to add a little color.
Very nice, as always. Love the nut trick. Ill definately use that. Redemption :)
thats pretty awesome mate you got another subscriber
Welcome!
I love that you do voiceover after your video sequence. So many lazy TH-cam-ers out there just scream and don't care.
@marcus460 As I say in the video, this is 3/16" and the first was 5/32"
@evcrawfish not sure about the bolts, I guess 8.8 or 10 would do...
@MrJsowa go for it! Post the result for us all to see....
@garyhuston will do sir,im planning on using three of them(lower amount of twists), in a somewhat"triangle configuration".well see how she goes
This would be badass as a sword hilt.
nice
disculpa estimado como se logra ese efecto esta fabuloso muy bien
Просто бомба!
hey sir !! nice video
but can you tell me!! what is the name of the tool
with which are you twisting "!! in video
I don't think it really has a name, it's just two pieces of square overlapped and spaced out to fit the bar you are twisting and then welded together.
Gary was that braid still just 4 strands of round stock or did you use more strands? As you said it does seem chunkier. I know you used larger stock but was just wondering. Thank you.
Exactly the same just bigger stock.
As it says on the side, 153kg
Be cool as a knife handle, maybe that bar could be forged to a blade?. if you were to make and sell as a knife what would that cost be?

Sorry. Is it a braided twisted handle?
I still have no idea what you are asking..
The grades of bolts (like 6.4, 8.8 or 10.9) don't have anything to do with the carbon in the steel. For example an 10.9 bolt means this bolt breaks by 10 x 100 N/mm2, one newton is like 100g or 0,2 pound, so 1000 N/mm2 of material. At 90% (9x10) of this force (900N/mm2) the bolt will stretch and not come back to it's original length. An 8.8 bolt will break at 800 N/mm2 and stretch at 640 N/mm2. What you need for a knife is steel with a lot of carbon, and you can't know this. So give it a try?
amazing interested in making me a sissy bar for the bike???? cheers
Send me some drawings and ill take a look.
