    Your BuJo system saved my life. As a person that is easily distracted and has always tons of open loops in the head, for me the best thing about bullet journaling is to declutter my mind very effectively. I finally managed to get out of the continuous stress from a chaotic mountain of tasks which gives a huge feeling of relief and peace. I am finally able to organise my life in a very personal and meditative way.

    Thank you. I love Journaling for all the reasons you mentioned and also because it is a memory keeper. I journal how I felt holding my premie grand daughter for the first time- all connected to tubes and wires. When I read again, all those feelings come back and I am so thankful. Especially now, at 3 years old- laughing and talking and running.
    Keep up your good work. It is so meaningful for me.

    Journaling gave me the courage to leave my toxic fiánce and 90% of my belongings behind. I discovered bullet journaling for productivity in early 2017 and as Ryder mentioned it has developed more into a mindfulness tool over the years. My normal days start with a journal and mostly end with a journal ( 5-6 bullet point reflection)...
    One thing I´ve discovered recently: journaling in a different language often lead to surprising insights too. I do that with a different pen in my Bujo and it helps a lot when I am stuck with my thinking in my native language.

      so many things to acknowledge here. First, congratulations on making the very difficult choice to leave a very toxic situation and leading your life down a different path, wow. The gift of being multilingual is so hard to explain. the richness of experience with that dual understanding must be really insightful in your journal!

    What I love is the experience of having a few calm moments to think about myself every day in combination with the writing by hand. I also take a few seconds afterwards to look at my handwriting...somehow like I look at a piece of art...! ❤

      The thought of thinking of my "handwriting" as art made me smile and appreciate it at the same time because my handwriting can be a challenge to decipher if I don't keep my brain reined in.

    Your videos are SO inspiring and I want to share them every time I listen! So glad you are expanding this video because I was going to ask how to journal. As it’s obvious it’s writing but writing about what….how do you start?

    Journalling has saved my life in some way. Sure, it’s all just writing on pages of a notebook, but I get to experience the feeling of letting go of some of the things that have been holding me back mentally. It’s sure is life changing in so many ways.

    I always detested journaling because I could not understand the point. The various therapists assigned it like homework... a dreaded task to complete.
    I believe you are the first I have come across to make journaling come across as actually enjoyable if healing could be so.
    I actually might try again to write /journal.

    Also journaling has saved me in so many ways 😂😂 writing down moments in anger, arguments, or any past moment. It reminded me when I forgot something I thought was important thrn and had to reflect back on some things to recondition myself and choices. I don't look back on any negative anger bas moment that I wrote down badly. I try not to left my "not so good experiences" hinder me. Sometimes I laugh and think boy I was a little much glad I calmed down since . Or I'll see something I forgot and it reminds me to change a decision for what I might be going thru at the current timeframe.
    Also when in my worst of my sickness I had cognitive memory lapses, personality changes, and so forth.. I actually wrote things down a lot then. When I got better and I happen to stumble across a notebook with writings in it. I had forgotten go figure I wrote stuff down. It helped. Me remember some symptoms I was going thru I forgot to tell my doctor and my first dosage of medication. Becuase in my Drs notes they weren't put in it was only word of mouth said to me

    I find as I have gotten older and been through some things in my life 😂 as we all have. I have a better way of word on paper then trying to get my brain to mouth combo to work. Why it seems the disconnection has grown in the last 5 years as well. I know why there's so many factors obviously.

    Actually, attention is NOT a commodity, its a currency. A commodity is something you can stockpile, something you can buy and own. Attention is something that can ONLY be spent; Even buying someone else's is really just paying them to spend it on you; after they give you their attention, its not yours anymore unless they keep selling you more.

    Hi Ryder, thank you and your team for that wonderful video. It is so true. Bullet Journal saved my life and I enjoy my offline morning and evening routine to feel, that I am still existing. It makes me so sad, that there are so many people still stick to the idea, that a bullet journal is a colored calendar. The community weekly log is still preach by big creators as if it the truth. Could you please make a second video on the benefits of the written reflection? That would be so great. Have wonderful time. I am looking forward to the next video. Madlen

      there are a couple videos on reflection on the channel that might be helpful - if there's anything specific of course let us know.
      regarding that gap in what is popularized and the original method, it can feel frustrating especially when this is something we care a lot about. That's why we release content in hopes to invite more people to the method - and hopefully people will find their way to us

      @@bulletjournal Thank you very much for your fast answer. I watch all your videos every week and also repeat them every now and then. As I am a bullet journal content creator I see this as the best and most reliable source for my thoughts on the method. Maybe you can talk about, what made the change for you to come to the written reflection in a form of a new weekly log, which I named "Weekly Log 2.0". That would be very great. I also try to explain the method in my content and not the presentation. I think the greatest problem is, that a very useful bullet journal spread like a daily log or a minimalistic collection doesn't earn what the "great designed weekly spreads" earn. If creators with 50000 or more followers show their beautifully designed weekly spreads, it must be the truth. But it isn't. In the weekly log, which was the most valuable insight into the BuJo method, people prevent themselves from growing by limiting their space. How could I know that I only think five thoughts a day which fit into these tiny little boxes? That makes no sense. This was so game-changing in my bullet journal experience and I can only say thank you for that 2-minute extract from BuJo U.

    From another book I record my five senses at the end of the day, thankful for .... any challenges and unpack the challenges. I will be changing the way I record things after reading your book, as I am using my last A5 dot book, and converting to a A4 line book. I drive an urban bus in a smallish city--my shifts vary day to day. I have being recording my stress reading over 2 years so I can see that doing shift 3 results in a high stress reading. Often while driving I hear something interesting so I write it down on a piece of paper--later recording it in my BuJo as notes from the week.
    We are in the process of changing our lifestyle. I record things that are relevant to the new lifestyle. That way when we make the complete change it is less stress as we know how to do X.

    I journal because I have so many conflicting thoughts in my mind, so I need to sort through them, decide which ones are actually valid and which ones need to be discarded.

    in portuguese we have two verbs for the "to be".
    I am happy, for example, can be: eu SOU feliz or eu ESTOU feliz. SOU means the same as "I am". like... my life is happy all the time because I'm happy.
    ESTOU is related to the moment of the feeling, a status, for example: I am happy because a got promoted.

    I love looking back at the good moments in life cause I would always think that I'll remember them but as time goes on I'll get busy with work and totally forget about those enjoyable moments I experienced. Having the journal there to remind me of what I felt on x day is always fun to look at

    As a sahm, bullet journaling is a fantastic tool to make my work visible to me. I struggle when I get asked what I spend my time on. My days are busy but doing what exactly is hard to articulate. I end up feeling of little value and inadequate. By writing my activities (thoughts, events,etc.) down in one place, it makes my sometimes intangible work, tangible, and helps me to rebuild my self esteem bit by bit.

      this is a really wonderful example and I haven't heard it phrased in this way before. SAHMs do so much work that's been overlooked by most people, thank you for sharing this framing (and, your work in your home is invaluable.)

    We are no our emotions. Thoughts are just like cars on the highway and we are just observing them. It’s easy to say this but journaling helps us be less reactive. What do we really wanna focus on ?

    That last bit about turning thoughts into action is what CBT is all about. Journaling is one part of CBT therapy. I'm not surprised to hear that others find your videos so useful. :) Congrats Ryder!

    I don't really journal to be honest, but my BuJo has been serving me incredibly well as a planner. I don‘t think I‘d have survived a single month of uni without it!

    Other than the reasons you've given, I love journaling for the ability to organize all the disorganized ideas in my head, and brainstorm creativity into action. I'm a creative, and lots of my journaling provides emotional introspection to be able to add my own personal experience of emotion to my own creative work. I think without journaling, I'd likely copy a generic feeling of how an emotion, experience, or problem is usually experienced, but with journaling, I can understand my own personal experience on it, and how it differs from other situations, or how I feel I "should" experience a situation as others do. Getting artistic inspiration from looking back at my journal entries offers a more authentic or genuine touch to my expressions.

    BuJo has helped me track health issues - both mine and my cat's. My health care providers and the vet often comment how helpful it is that I have clear records of how things have been going. I also love getting all the open loops my brain comes up with out of my head and onto paper so I can set them down and don't have to worry I'll forget.

    Right now I am using my BuJo for tracking my Spring Cleaning 2023.
    I just finished to read your book this month and it helped me to gain perspective in deciding what to preserve and what to get rid of in my home 🤍.

      I also record the extra cleaning jobs eg fridge, stove, windows at the start or end of the month I do one of these. So i have written stove 3 (March), windows 2 (February)

    I just started journaling, but sometimes when I'm holding the pen, I just can't think of anything to write. That's my struggle. Sometimes, I want to write at the end of the day but i thought it was just an ordinary work day, my mind goes empty. Any tips :'(

      The ordinary is just as important to note. There are a few ways you can think to write. Maybe prompts like 2 things that happened today (this can be anything, not just "exciting" things). Or how do I feel about the way today/this week went? Would I change anything? Is there anything I want to try? And expand from there?

      There are a lot of retired folks in the BuJo community so their notes and tasks might look different - but this is a great idea for future :)

    I have been practicing Bujo as taught by Ryder for about one month and it has been very insightful in terms of what it is that I am working on and towards. It took some time to be able to learn how the functions work together but I am slowly getting the hang of it which is really encouraging. I like how once you understand some of the few key principles and how it ties together you can begin to experiment with different things. I do have to be careful though to not lose the point of the bujo which for me was about organizing my thoughts and not getting carried away with creating more work. I hope to continue this practice for the whole of 2024, to anyone who reads this, have an amazing and happy new year!

    I have searched for years to find a method of keeping my thoughts in a safe place. I struggle with anxiety, and written reflection shows me patterns in my thoughts, minimising the damage that they can do. Bullet Journalling was the answer to my prayers, it has become my safe space which only I can view. I use reflection to explore thoughts in depth and analyse why I feel like this or why someone made me feel like that. It helps me to move on and try not to be affected in the same way time and time again.

    Bullet Journaling has helped me to release anxiety and stress. Being a provider and caregiver for mother after 2 strokes has been hard. I have seen your short videos on the basics, but I want to understand where can I write my experiences every day. What is the page called? my day?
