As usual Alex is almost always got beat to the first punch on most exchanges. He used the same aproach against Pryor twice but those times he paid the price and lost to a powerful puncher.
arguello got exposed in this fight. chacon was beating him handlily til the cut. no wonder pryor was ab le to easily outbox and dominate arguello before knocking him out.
Argüello took his time with his opponents. Also versus Pryor he was 31 and in his worst weight class versus a fighter in his prime and weight class. Argüello fought valiantly against Pryor, and he got Tko in the 14th round, hardly easy at all for Pryor. And here vs Chacon the judges had him behind by one point. Argüello almost had him outta there in that last round before they stopped it due to the cut, so who’s to say he wasn’t going to finish it in the eighth?
This is the real Argüello, 130 pounder not the 140 that faced Pryor. He was faster here, still took his time to analyze his opponents I will admit, but he wasn’t nearly as slow and weaker then at 140, where he still would’ve beat the other 140 champion if he hadn’t fought Pryor. I’d like to have saw Pryor fight a true 140 pounder like kostya tszyu, with the amount of right hands that Alexis landed on Pryor which he took pretty unfazed (mystery bottle). Tszyu definitely could’ve landed enough to ko him
And that’s the thing with Alexis, you could be winning on the scorecards versus him, but sooner or later he’ll start to find his target and put his opponents in a world of hurt. He was a all time great champion, and rightfully so named the greatest 130 pounder ever

I've said it before, besides being a great boxer, Arguello is still the nicest person I ever met.
Class.

As usual Alex is almost always got beat to the first punch on most exchanges. He used the same aproach against Pryor twice but those times he paid the price and lost to a powerful puncher.
He lost to a cheat! NOT a better fighter.
Constantine -that’s silly-no bottle controversy in second fight, and Argüello quit on the floor-no contest-Pryor won easy
hr markley Last round of the first fight took his soul.
Of course they hace Pryor that strange drink ok coca. Argüello among the 10 BEST ever

Chacon was a lovable, poorly trained
Fighter
arguello got exposed in this fight. chacon was beating him handlily til the cut. no wonder pryor was ab le to easily outbox and dominate arguello before knocking him out.
He was a
all time great champion, and rightfully so named the greatest 130 pounder ever
