  • We all know that the Toyota Innova Crysta is a successful MPV, without doubt. The tricky bit is that its steep price tag doesn’t seem to put off the majority either. So what is it about the Innova Crysta that has so many longing for one? Vikrant Singh answers that question in this video.

      Please do review 0f Tata Hexa in 2019

    • @vishmapari
      @vishmapari 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tata Hexa supersede Innova Crysta in almost every department from autobox to ride comfort to VFM but still Hexa loses out only due to brand name that Innova have become over the years. I am owner of Toyota Innova since decade and now it started to feel like Toyota is milking its loyal customers with Fortuner and Innova ..I sincererly feels that Hexa and Endeavour should succeed in their respective segments

    When I went to the dealer in Bangalore to enquire the crysta, it was an experience by itself, they know they will achieve the targets with this car, so they don’t even bother negotiating, you either buy it to their rate or get lost, it was almost like going to a Hyundai dealership and trying to buy a hatchback, and 30 lakhs price tag with add-ons is just not justified, so went for the new endeavor, it was the best decision ever.

    Got my 1st Innova back in 2012 for 12.5 lakhs...sold it last Yr after clocking 176k kms in the odometer for 7.5 lakhs. Hardly spent anything on maintenance other than consumables like brake pads/shoes, tyres & lubricants. Got clutch disc/pressure plate set replaced 2wice. Now planning for crysta variant. Satisfied beyond expectation.

    One very micro thing I have observed in all of vikrant's review (apart from his suave english) is that all the headings are very positive, like "everyone wants one", "relevant comfortable and feature pack", "venue makes so much sense", none of his headings carry negative sentiment ... I dont know whether it is deliberated or just coinsidence ...

    I test drove the automatic 2.8L extensively. There are a few serious issues that I wish you had paid attention to
    1. When you brake hard you can feel vibrations in the steering. I personally feel, this is unacceptable.
    2. The engine is super powerful but the body of the Crysta is too light for it. Wheels spin each time you accelerate and there is the proverbial kick in the pants feeling each and every time one accelerates even moderately hard. This may sound like manna from heaven for the enthusiasts but it causes serious nausea in normal passengers.
    3. For a 109 PS Yaaris, Toyota has endowed it with rear disc brakes. They have saved a lot of money by avoiding rear discs on the 2.8L 174 PS Crysta! Not Done :(
    4. When I test drove a 3 year old Crysta which had driven around 50k kms, there was clearly a fall in performance compared to a relatively new car which I test drove at the showroom. I always look at this issue with a lot of keenness. Cars which are built well, should not see a fall in performance over time. Specially not a Toyota.

      Your absolutely right about the 4th point! I test drove my friend's first generation Crysta zx variant recently (Had also driven it when new) and also noticed the SIGNIFICANT drop in power. It's like you press the accelerator but nothing happens. My friend tried to approach the service centre but they had no solution to it and simply said it happens with age ( it shouldn't). Mind you i drive the VX variant and I'm not having any such problem with the manual.

    • @trianggaindralukmana2184
      @trianggaindralukmana2184 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thats normal with turbo, cars with turbo suffer relative drop performance as aging vs naturally aspirated engine. try to check the turbo maybe the shaft start play and needed new seal and bearings

    • @muhammadhanifkurnaen6689

      It's diesel unit? Yes maybe fuel pressure drop because some trouble on fuel pump unit. EGR is blocked, turbo bearing is out and injector spray is bad. It common happened on here but after fixed, diesel unit are easy to tune. 150hp with just software changes

    great review n a great video! As a crysta owner, all spot on pros n cons! although i bought the manual top end version instead..just fr the love of manual drive...dat inconvinience of a harsh gear box is worth the joy of manual drive over a boring toy car feel of an automatic...both 2.4 n 2.8 dont dissapoint on the performance tho!

    In indonesia it compete with wuling (india got MG) baojun 730 or cortez. But innova still far a head.
    Because it's "el clasico" of automotive market in indonesia, and india has similar thought too.
    7 seater, ladder frame, rear wheel drive, durable, strong branding/image, and luxurious. The things that innova not reached until today is comfort, as monocoque car offer better comfort but cost at durability and maintenance difficulty (innova use same platform as fortuner-hilux so it's easy to repair)

    Sorry, the automatic gearbox doesn’t have an option of manually changing gears, when you push to S, it locks the gear to the gear number displayed, which is more usable for down-hill stability so that the heavy vehicle doesn’t reach top gear making it riskier. This is gear lock which you have an option to play around from 2 to 6 and not change or shift gears. This has been almost a myth by even existing owners.

      I can say innova like 4runner wich based on tacoma. Although innova only rwd and not design for hard offroad, it use same formula. Sharing platform. Innova use same platform found on fortuner and hilux (see IMV platform on google) and innova use ladder frame chassy. The body design it's slightly derrived from highlander so you may expect this derrived from highlander. But highlander is transversal powerplant so is natively fwd and got awd on higher trim. Innova is longitudinal powerplant and natively rwd.

    I own a vx cheap interior.... No android play very clumsy cruise controls.. ground clearance .. it must be considered with the step.. cornering head lamp for such high price.. I prefer the previous generation to be frank - I would say please update the dash and insulate the noise.... It's pretty noisy. Needs roof rails and proper one not as an ornament

    I don't think Toyota gets to sell 30L variants a lot...may be a few buys it. It is under 20Lakh worth car only. It meant for Taxi only. I am not sure even in Taxi in which year they get break even. Even at 30L price you quoted, it does not yet get Sun roof. With so many short comings, Toyota still manages to get sales no...that's whosesale fooling around. Also, another point to drive home is if any brand has strong word of mouth going in their favor that can take on the world !!!

    I like to hear about vehicles available in other countries, even those that will never be sold in the U.S. but this.....?
    I say this, without being at all acquainted with its competitors: I think it is ugly. To me, it looks like a minivan/MPV trying to pass itself off as some kind of SUV. And the interior looks like it was up specced from a taxicab by adding leather seating surfaces(?) and bits of polished metal and wood.
    WITHOUT seeing what the competition looks like, I would say that the only compelling reason to buy an Inova is for the Toyota reputation of value.

      There's no doubt about over priced Toyota cars. Even Fortuner at 30 lakhs INR is way too pricey. Innova Crysta should be in the range of 10 to 15 Lakhs.
