And now the one time that I was prey, I fled in utter terror. And look what came of that... I'll die in this well alone. Ah, life is filled with uncertainty. I could have given the weasel another day of life with my sacrifice. But now... My death will help no one. I am useless... Dear Lord I beg of you, look into my heart and hear my prayer... In my next life, don't let me waste myself. Let me use my body for the true happiness of everyone in the world. ' "And then the scorpion burst into flames, a brilliant crimson glow. And by the light of his burning body, he lit up the night forever." In a way it reminded me of my favourite childhood tale of how Raven Stole the Light from the old Chief keeping it secret. The Raven was just curious, and wanted to know why the Chief was keeping such a treasure. There are many variations of this tale, but by the end of it, the Raven takes it from the Chief, flies high into the sky, even as the light burns away at him, blackening his feathers and beak, his whole body all over, causing him great pain, he tosses the orbs into the sky, blessing us the sun, the moon, and the stars that trickled from his beak as he held upon them... By his curiosity and mystery-seeking nature, he unveiled a great treasure and blessing onto the world, with some sacrifice onto himself, permanently transforming him and his appearance. Well..
