Outfit balance is something that older Southern women have been instilling in us since we were kids! This is something that I have always remembered and is helpful for chic but modest outfits.
When I finally moved into my first apartment with my friend/roommate I had a small walk-in closet. I got a bookshelf from Walmart that fit just right against the wall in the closet and I stacked my folded clothes neatly on the shelves as opposed to buying a dresser and putting my clothes in drawers. I love the idea of walking into my closet and seeing everything right in front of me. Like how you walk into a clothing store and see everything there in front of you. I’ve never had a dresser and I don’t wish to. This made getting dressed so simple for me. 💕
“Okay, I’m done yelling at you.”😂😂😂 Not at all!! I loved everything that was said! So timely! I don’t yet have an open closet like your gorgeous one, but I bought a $20 rack off of Amazon and I lay out pieces on that. Plan ahead of time! I put my looks for the week out, the week before and that’s been a game changer! I did a HUGE purge that left me with only 9-12 pieces and of that half were dresses so I was limited with outfit options. Now that I’m rebuilding, I was really overwhelmed with building a wardrobe, thinking I had to buy x amount of pants, x amount of tops, x amount of skirts, and don’t even get me started on accessories. But you said something in a recent video that spoke to me, that you don’t rush looking for pieces. Those riding boots that you have been looking for, for years and finally found and you looooved them. That’s my approach now. Am I avidly looking for certain piece? Yes, but I’m not forcing it. I feel my best in a mid-thigh skirt and a long sleeve top and dresses that fit that shape. That’s what I’m focusing on now. As I get more comfortable and confident wearing clothes again (I wore scrubs EVERYWHERE for the past 5-6 years), I know that I’ll start branching out to more diverse articles of clothing. Thank you for the video Jenee! And getting the convo started! I LOVE your content!
The end of summer was my last time. I think it’s due time again and instead of putting my closet as outfits put things together in order like you said! Thanks
You do know I learned the purging and organizing from you?! It makes a BIG difference. Then once I decluttered, then organized.....it makes putting my outfits together easier and I can see all of my things, thank you so much!!
Welcome to the navy world. My absolute favorite color. Speaking of colors, back in 2010 I started color coordinating my closet and it was the best thing ever!!!! Great vid
Great content as usual. I can't thank you enough for helping me step out with confidence. My husband is noticing a difference in the way I elevate each look, I'm not just filling my cart because I see great deals. I know I've strayed away from the sole purpose of your content, I felt the need to express my gratitude. Much love and admiration 🖤
This was so good, especially the last two. I would add wash/dry clean or take better care of your clothes. Some of us don’t read the care label on the clothes and so we mess them up.
Great reminders in this video. Have you ever done a video on how to dress for specific vibes/looks? As you mentioned it in this video, I thought about how helpful an in-depth video from you on this topic would be. Love all your videos, especially the styling ones. Keep it up! 🥰
ICIMI but my garment rack/valet outside of my closet has been a game changer! I set out all my looks for the week with the accessories, foot & outerwear and/or bags...my sunnies are on an accent table nearby as well. This also inspires me to elevate even the simplest look with all the crap I bought (and keep buying) during lockdown LOL
Great video! I just discovered my winter aesthetic- knit dresses mostly midi sweater dresses. I find them easy to wear and they’re comfortable. And they give me the chic but yet laid-back elegance I’m looking for. I think what you said about looking for an aesthetic is so important. The past few years my aesthetic has been all over the place. Recently I just did a closet overhaul and realize the stuff that I actually like to wear versus the stuff that I think I want to wear. During the fall and winter are all mostly my knit dresses with Chelsea boots and blazers. I think that they are comfortable, chic , and require no ironing or tailoring. The fit my body perfectly Which sums up my aesthetic: comfortable and no fuss chic .
thanks so much for sharing, I remain proud of you more and more and the quality of your content and the support you give your viewers on style fashion ETC. Peace and Blessings and I appreciate you. Have a great fall. My tip would be even working from home I plan all my outfits for each day, it makes it easier and I love fashion so it makes me feel boss on those days working from home gets boring. Thanks
I cant tell you how much I appreciate these type of fashion/style vids...it helps to understand how to put together outfits based in theory and intention to have a more stylish/chic look when dressing in general!! Thank you so much!!🥰😍
Loved the info on balance and proportion. I have color-coordinated my closet by the colors of the rainbow ROY G. BIV for the last 20 years. Folks thought I was a little AR - and maybe I am. But it works! Oh! And I group like items together. So I agree. It works!
Oh my goodness, this by far has been the most informative and valuable video I've seen you present since becoming a subscriber a few months ago. From the importance of proportions, purging your closet, finding your aesthetic, and tailoring, I think tailoring is the most significant. Tailoring can be the difference between you wearing the outfit and the outfit wearing you. During my career, I always had my clothes altered when appropriate. It made me feel better and of course I looked better. I recognize tailoring can be expensive but I always looked at it as an investment in myself. I was in pharmaceutical sales for 30 years and first impressions were important when meeting physicians and hospital staff. In addition, I agree color coordinating can make a tremendous difference when getting ready for work by minimizing time. Although I have retired, I thoroughly enjoy your videos because they are educational, fashion forward and entertaining. You really do provide a service to any woman who wants to look her best and have it together no matter her budget. Keep up the great work and the videos coming 👍💕👏.
Purchase staple items!! I had a hard time purging but moving was my motivation and it felt good. I donated clothes shoes and house items. I know my style so I buy items that will work with other pieces in my wardrobe.
I eagerly await your videos....you are always on point and I am here for it EVERYTIME 🙂Keep up the awesomeness (I believe I made up that word - LOL, LOL). TFS
I know you were talking to me and I'm happy to report that I purged 4 trash bags of clothing/shoes and have moved out most of my summer pieces...our weather is finicky, so kept some out. Thanks for the motivation, J!🤗
This is a terrific video with lots of awesome and doable tips!!! I especially agree with the tailoring and closet organization advice. Since I've incorporated a closet system it's so much easier to get dressed.....makes a difference when you can actually see what you have! Have a beautiful weekend!
Coincidentally I devoted last week and weekend to laundry decluttering and organizing my closet; making sure everything was put away in its designated place that I could just pull from. It really does drive you crazy when your clothing and accessories are not placed away decently and in order!
Fantastic tips Jenee!! I particularly like the last tip of organizing and de cluttering!!! It’s like having a closet with a ton of pieces and not really an outfit,.. in other words I have nothing to wear!!
I am so glad I purged, when you did your closet switch for the season and I have never done that but it truly made a difference. Thank you for then and great video today! ❤
I love the Leger sweater. I used to find sweaters like that at Daffy’s. I haven’t thrifted much being a size 14 but you have me intrigued. I plan on trying the app soon.
Hi Jenee . Hope all is well . If time permits can you give ideas on what to pack for winter travel(airport), using ideas in your current winter collection?
This was so good. Because of you I did this when I first started watching you. I got on Pinterest and found my style and then went thru my clothes got rid of everything g that was not me . My closet in my room is small , but I put all my jeans and button down shirts and blouses and skirts in there have an extra closet and did a DIY closet and have my dresses all of my cardigans and shoes in there and it has made it so much easier for me to dress. Also finding out my style has made my confidence so strong because now I know what I like and what is comfortable for me. So thank you keep doing what you are doing it truly works.
OKAY OKAYYYYYYY, I see you looking at me! LMBO!! I am currently on closet 6! I've taken all my kids closets (3/one is a walk-in closet)...both hall closets (2)...and my closet (walk-in). Even after I purge, sell, and donate my clothes...I still have no room! I want a bigger closet so bad! We are looking to move soon..so I will focus on my master closet then lol. My favorite piece is the Herve Leger sweater! I'm on a hunt for it! I thrifted a cardigan similar to the Ronny Kobo the other day for $10! It's red and black! Very heavy and giving Chanel vibes like you said! I can't wait to style it!
Thank you for introducing me to Fashionphile last year during the pandemic. My vintage luxury collection is coming along very nicely. Amazing tips and video!!!
As per usual, I freakin loved this video! I also appreciate your transparency and unapologetic dopeness! Thanks for showing us all that this can be done, keep pushing and motivating us all! Lastly, Im obsessed with the black top, the perfect amount of coverage and sassiness!
“I know. I’m looking at you.” How did you know?!? 😆 purging has been on my to do list but always ends up getting pushed down to the bottom of the list. This is my sign to get it done
I don’t know how to purge and organize. It takes me for ever to find something in my closet and when I’m fed up I put on anything looking a mess or come Back to a huge mess
Loving these videos! Your tips are like top hits! Thrift quality items to pay less-looove Thred Up…get items tailored, dress to balance your body type, purge purge purge- the part of my closet that is organized are my T-shirts and jeans 😂-I really do need to purge-can’t wait for the next video.
Okay... I have the wrong hobby. I need to get into tailoring instead of upcycling clothes. Geeze. Notes taken!!! Smiles. Awesome Tips! They all make perfect sense!!!
Loved, loved, loved all your tips. Definitely makes life easier to do these things. I'm a visual person too, I have Lupus ,Fibromyalgia and I have memory issues and my brain doesn't fire on all it's cylinders at times, lol. I need to be able to see everything and know where it's at, to me that's half the battle. I also put outfits together in my space according to the weather and how I might feel that day,i.e. if I'm swelled or stiff and can't move well or I run hot or colder than normal. ♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏
Oh I so agree! If the top is revealing then the bottom conservative and mini skirt with a top that is conservative! It makes it even sexier because I have seen women go out where everything is revealing and they look cheap! You always have the coolest looks! 🌠
Lord you are looking directly at me 😂 I need to put my dresser together and go through things I don’t wear. My closet is a disaster and I don’t even keep a lot of things! Lol I usually do it every 6 months
This was soooo good! Absolutely loved the advice on proportions and balance. We have a similar build although I’m 6ft tall. Thanks so much for sharing XoXo 😘
I tend to check what the weather will be like the next day. Then that night I pick the outfit from earrings down to the shoes and I am not allowed to change my mind. Otherwise, it takes too much time and traffic is crazy.😂
Great Video as Always!!🥰 I definitely live by your tips except the last Yep you was yelling at me!!😩🤣🤣 I do purge but I need to organize better!!🤣🤣 Prayers please!!🤣🤣🤣 One of my tips I get my outfit out at night for work so I won’t be scrambling in the morning!!😃
Outfit balance is something that older Southern women have been instilling in us since we were kids! This is something that I have always remembered and is helpful for chic but modest outfits.
My tip is only buy what makes you feel good and that you will enjoying wearing..don't buy anything you don't love
That Herve’ sweater is everything

LOVED the styling of the Herve sweater ♥️🙌🏽

Invest in a wardrobe rack! It helps as well.
Great tips! My favorite is to buy upscale secondhand, have items tailored, choose a vibe, and purge/organize. 😊

Loved, loved, loved all your tips. Definitely makes life easier to do these things. Closet recommendation was on key.
I've been avoiding sorting through my closet - you were talking to me.
Oh I so agree! If the top is revealing then the bottom conservative and mini skirt with a top that is conservative! It makes it even sexier because I have seen women go out where everything is revealing and they look cheap!
You always have the coolest looks! 🌠
Love you energy and style. Can you let me know how to get wrinkles out of faux leather?
Lord you are looking directly at me 😂 I need to put my dresser together and go through things I don’t wear. My closet is a disaster and I don’t even keep a lot of things! Lol I usually do it every 6 months
I love it. Thank you. I do organize my closet and color coordinated
That sweater!!!! Omg!! It is amazing!
Great ideas! Thanks. Love your channel!
Thanks for this video. I too have a place where I take my expensive clothes(on sale) be altered.
You are so welcome!
This was soooo good! Absolutely loved the advice on proportions and balance. We have a similar build although I’m 6ft tall. Thanks so much for sharing XoXo 😘
Thank you for this video time to declutter my closet.
I tend to check what the weather will be like the next day. Then that night I pick the outfit from earrings down to the shoes and I am not allowed to change my mind. Otherwise, it takes too much time and traffic is crazy.😂
I’m OCD, I organize and purge my closet monthly. I fell better when my closet is well organized.
I came to watch as soon as I was done with homeschooling my children 🍾🍾🍾
Great Video as Always!!🥰 I definitely live by your tips except the last Yep you was yelling at me!!😩🤣🤣 I do purge but I need to organize better!!🤣🤣 Prayers please!!🤣🤣🤣 One of my tips I get my outfit out at night for work so I won’t be scrambling in the morning!!😃

YAY!!! So glad you found me
