I don't have many heroes, but Assange and Snowden have been my heroes for a long time now. When they brought Assange out of the embassy in handcuffs, my friends were poking fun of his appearance and laughing, I had broken down and began crying, and said "So this is how they treat heroes these days?!" And I asked my friends wth was wrong with them. That's the first time I've cried in a long time, I was physically sick.

There’s a campaign by Belmarsh prison where Julian Assange is detained, to show support by honking. Every time I drove past I honk. I hope Julian can hear it. Sending my support to him and his family ❤

Honking? HONKING?? I don't think anyone could come up with a more useless and empty gesture.

@@faye_bulous Honestly, I'll bet it becomes tiresome after a while considering that car-horns are purposefully designed to be jarring and strident. The truth is, the horn thing is probably more for the public, desperate to feel important in the face of a situation that is so far outside their ability to actually do anything about it. It would probably be more useful to throw rocks at the windows, maybe Julian would be able to squeeze through the hole and get away.

I've already emailed my congresspeople and senators,, several times,, how many people do you figure it would take in the United States to release Julian by referendum? Unfortunately, we don't control the legal system... No matter how crude or criminal it is or gets to be, average people are locked out of it... All we can do is elect which people we want to lie to us, since the politicians are in no position to question their corporate Masters... They can try, and the same thing happen to them has happened to either JFK or Dennis Kucinich, who had his congressional district just erased out from under him...

All of you are amazing human beings fighting for justice and against the US government, which believes that they are superior and are abusing their position and power, and are hypocrats following double standards. Nobody should feel superior, and above the law, including the American government !!!!! It is terrible and appalling how people have to fight sooooooooooooo incredibly hard for justice in this world, while some human beings who are in powerful positions believe that they are superior and can punish those innocent. I love and admire everyone's bravery and beautiful speeches here. All of you are amazing, wonderful people who are standing up against injustice. Thank you for doing this. > DF Since your comment conveys the distaste you clearly feel for the United States government, it should please you to know that China has stated numerous times that they intend to replace America as the world's Superpower. Now that Biden's in the White House, considering the close financial and business ties that the Biden family has with China, that country has a good chance of attaining their stated goal. If you are an American citizen living in America, just wait until China is at the helm - they give new meaning to your notion of 'abuse of power' - you ain't seen abuse until you're under China's rule. Think I'm kidding? Is your answer "no" or "no"? Personally, I am grateful to have been born in America and to be living here. Why do you think folks worldwide continue to cross our southern border to live here? The people in this panel are not "fighting" for justice - they're speaking for it - if they actually want to stand up for Julian Assange, they need to use their influence to do something about it, not just talk about it.

Thanks for that recognition of one of the UK's most consistently moral figures. Assange should also receive £5 million or thereabouts for wrongful imprisonment. I'll tell you what - until the men and women in this panel turn their words into action to actually do something to get Julian Assange released from prison, that's when deep respect is warranted. In the world I come from, being a truth-teller is a 'given' - the problems arose for Assange because telling the truth was an inconvenient threat to the power that The Powers That Be hold. Imagine having the guts to speak out like he did, and still does, knowing that it could end your life, either physically or by lifelong imprisonment, and yet you love the truth and freedom, and therefore people & their rights so much, that you do it anyway. He gave up his freedom for all of ours.
He is not a criminal, those that seek to shut him up & cover up their lies and murder are the criminals.
They want him dead or permanently imprisoned but the murderers he exposed walk free to re-commit their crimes again and again.

      > Cinda Riley Wishing "a good life" to Julian Assange borders on offensive - my goodness, Cinda; the man passes his days living in prison for years now - and it's likely he will continue to reside there. That can hardly be considered a place that fosters a 'good life' - what were you thinking to say such a thing? As well, until the people on this panel turn their words into action to actually get Julian released from prison, what do you think they do for him? Talk is cheap. Action makes things happen.

I have seen a sad evolution of our investigative journalism throughout my lifetime. I’m sure Assange and Snowden cases were forefront along with advertising dollars in ruining our press. Thank you for your ongoing efforts. ❤

How long do we sit here and allow this to happen. What will it take for us to come TOGETHER & TAKE ACTION. We need to do something, before it's too late. It might be too late..............

Its already too late for some who could have made a stand. A question to consider is how long have we been deceived? The key as you say is Come Together and Take Action. We've got people afraid to stand up to clear error. Well...its not unreasonable to reflect on those who have attempted to overcome this darkness. Question what should be done and how. Individuals and small groups shine a light...but because we don't have a cohesive plan it all gets buried all too easily. We feel we're free- not like the poor people in Russia or China. Their governments lie to them. Information is filtered and stories told to manipulate these poor people. Aren't we glad that we have freedom of speech? Justice when falsely accused? People who represent us appointed by fair and free elections? Its costing people dearly to give us a glimpse of the false reality. With all hope, we shall not let this pass. People flip their lids and its the personal pronouns that need a reworking. ? The media directs and explains. Here we stand pouring the energy of change into a pocket. Allowing those who do not represent our interests to bully those who do.

@@laurakillian4758 I'm with you. I hear what you're saying, but can't fully express, because you'll be silenced. I'm shadow banned here on YT, so I have to censor myself too. I'm extemely grateful for this gathering, but as I listened to the opening statement from Democracy Now, I noticed the subtle partisan shilling; I think we're familiar with the politically correct buzz words. We know we're sliding dangerously into tyranny, yet here they are, championing journalistic integrity while avoiding or omitting any reference to the deep corruption they prop up by supporting those who victimizeed Julian Assange in the first place, the powerful politicians who exploit, manipulate, cheat, lie, who are never held to account for their atrocious abuse of justice & power, who commit theft & genocide with impunity & self-righteous arrogance, because they're "above the law", superior, chosen. They will crush anyone who dares to reveal their intentions- and they're destroying our country, shredding our freedom & voiding our documents. In Washington, right now & as they have done for many years, selling Americans down the river for profit & their own selfish gain. They don't want Julian Assange to breathe another word or breath, and they'll probably get their way. They always do. Some of those people talking now are either unaware, ignorant or complicit. We're gonna need a divine intervention, or in the meantime, a well organized militia. Godspeed.

That footage as with the crimes at Gitmo and on and on were horrifying at the time it was released and has haunted me ever since it was revealed. I still have mad admiration and respect for Chelsea Manning for risking her life to get it to someone who would be brave enough to release it. That makes both of them heroes. I understand a lot of people prefer to look away from the truth when it is wicked and ugly like this, but that’s when we have to look and speak up and speak out. My brain can’t even begin to fathom how many war crimes have been committed by the US alone over the 66 years I’ve been on this planet, which has never known a days peace.
