  • Two teens are facing felony charges after a viral video showing boaters dumping trash in the ocean off Boca Raton sparked outrage, officials said Friday.
The viral video, which was posted on the Instagram account Wavy Boats, shows 10 people onboard the boat traveling out of Boca Inlet on Sunday. Two people are seen emptying large garbage cans full of trash and bottles into the ocean before heading back to the Boca Bash, an unsanctioned boating party, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials.

So, you can be less responsible because flying up in the air is much more complex than driving a boat? But I would say complexity isn't the issue it's being responsible because driving a boat is like driving a car, ....you shouldn't speed, you have to yield for right of way, wreckless driving applies to boat and auto, and you do need a license to drive a boat in Florida. As to your helicopter comparison, I'd say driving a boat is more like operating a helicopter because you need to have navigation skills, read a compass, weather is critical, survival skills, etc. How's that?

Both teens and their parents should be held accountable! Their parent statements prove that these parents have never taught their children not to litter or trash or oceans. To all parents, that’s your job. I raise both my boys on boats. We not only taught them to throw away the trash in a trashcan once we got back to land, but we also would pick up other peoples trash on oceans and lakes. My sons are there 30s and they’re both into the boating industry. and they still pick up peoples trash. Come on parents raise your kids, right! Teach them how to be responsible and put their trash and trash cans. Pretty simple thing to teach your children!

The blatant disregard for all other life in that area really upsets me. That’s an entire ecosystem you’re damaging, not to mention the poor people just trying to enjoy the beach while have your trash washing up from all directions? Absolutely not. They need consequences that will stick. Humans can’t suck this much. We need to do better at teaching the smaller ones

This is ridiculous, &the entire BS sentiment that’s been going around too often lately of “reee kids did something wrong, it’s obviously the parents fault!” needs to stop. Has everyone seriously forgot the dumb things they did growing or at least people they know of from school that did dumb stuff, but had good parents? I know I was a dumb kid that had good parents but still did things behind their backs. Did I ever do this exactly? Nope, didn’t have a boat. Certainly did plenty of stupid things with many of other people though in high school. That’s part of growing up, making stupid mistakes, dealing with the outcome, &learning from them. Does every kid who does something wrong have good parents? Obviously not, but to go&say it’s the parents fault every damn time something is in the media is ridiculous.
If our parents are to blame for everything we’ve ever done, then I got a feelings that this world is filled with horrible people, &those of us who go on to have kids will also be the same kind of horrible. My son’s 2, so I think I’m mostly safe at the moment besides when he gets cranky from refusing his nap, but boy, in several years or so I’ll be Charles Manson from this sort of sentiment.

They are still kids when they are drinking and partying lol. That’s what 16 year olds do. Just because they aren’t poor and they get to go out on expensive adventures doesn’t mean anything to how responsible they have to be compared to a poor individual. We all did stupid things as a 16 year old. Our parents called us kids at 16. You guys need to cool your jets, don’t you have local kids to yell at for being on your lawn?
