I think breakfast has become a much more 'glamorous' meal, almost set to replace the attraction of evening meals. So many places offer breakfasts now, and dining-in breakfasts too. We're developing such a lazy lifestyle (generally speaking - I'm not to stereotype!), and brunch is definitely becoming more popular. Breakfast shouldn't cost that much, but I can see why they think they could get away with it.
Yes I can see what you mean! Because it's the thought of "well it's this or nothing so I may aswell just spend the money for this instead of going out searching for a cheaper deal" or the "I'm too busy so just this once" that the hotels are playing on. Cause it sounds ridiculous £40 for a breakfast but then when you think of yourself in that position, just another thing added to the tab for convenience I can't say that I wouldn't pay it. That's kinda scary..
