Nice video. That diesel powered Amtrak couldn't have been the Vermonter, because the Vermonter has 5 cars and this train had 8, so it had to be a regional. I think the reason for the P42 was that the electric locomotive was experiencing problems and it was swapped for a diesel at New Haven
It's definitely not the Vermonter, the Vermonter uses the New Haven-Springfield line then heads north on the Connecticut River Line up to Vermont. Canton Junction is south of Boston, a ways off the Vermonter's normal route.
