Haven’t listened to the whole episode yet, but… I definitely have struggles, I LOVE the season, and I’m the MOST EXTRA with decorating, clothing, gifts etc. But then I reach a limit where it’s all of a sudden too much, then everything seems too much but it can’t be turned off. Christmas Day with all those gifts and sensory overloads can be wild, linked with the RSD of worrying no one will like the 100+ gifts I purchased, makes for over drinking and exacerbation of all other adhd symptoms.
I hear you on that. The love for the season and the overdoing it. I LOVE doing holiday events. We go and have a great time! Then I am completely exhausted and don’t even want to finish the rest of the fun weekend events. Then I take all week to recover. Then I do it all again the next weekend. 🫣
Great episode! I’m definitely a “name it to tame it” kinda girl. We gift to a lot of different people, so my holiday season gifting secret tool is a spreadsheet on my phone that I’ve used for years with who I’m buying for, the budget, highlight it yellow when I’m done buying and highlight it green when it’s wrapped!
My wife and I do not live close to family, so we really focus on spending quality time with family during the holidays. However, this means gift giving has not been our priority for the past few years (when talking about our love language). I agree with what you said about the importance of opening up a dialogue with friends and family, so they understand how you're feeling, and nobody feels left out because they didn't receive a gift, a card, a holiday package, etc. Favorite Holiday Movies: It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart and White Christmas with the always hilarious Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. Also, this year despite my wife's objections I have tried to get my son to watch the Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Cain
The time blindness is real!! Favorite gift would be a cool pinball looking thing called Jezzball that I adored! And in addition to Christmas Vacation, I would add Home Alone 2!
Thank you Coach for these tips ❤️ what can we do without you?
