The problem is most times you don't know. People get really good at masking it. Sometimes it's the people who think CAN'T be depressed. They are too full of life, too funny, too "happy". But you only see that side, you don't see the lows, the deep dark lows that they don't even let themselves really feel or acknowledge. Those are the private moments, those are the feelings they don't /can't show ANYONE. Most of the time it's too late to do anything. If you are lucky you might see a low and maybe you can help. Or there might be a small hint / clue of a darkness...but it's so small and so quick you don't even see it...until after. Don't hate yourself for missing it or not helping that person, hate the society /culture that makes it hard for some people to express what they are feeling.

Sometimes, in the lucky cases, medication can help with that. If all avenues have been exhausted, therapy, medication, etc...then it's an individuals choice to do what they want.
Dogs actually have that sense of emotional distress towards humans, Charlie easily would’ve done anything to keep him if it wasn’t for the juicy steak and locked door
This is why we need to take care of those who suffer from addiction or non violent mental illness like depression these are people like in this characters case who needed help for the longest time and right when he was getting better he should have been watched cuz one little thing could set someone well lets just say “off” wether taking it out on themselves or others we need to do better to help
I remember on the very week I had just gotten my first paying job, I randomly decided to go see this film opening weekend and I had not even known this was a 4th remake, so I had no idea that he was about to kill himself until I saw a girl sitting next to me silently sobbing as he was carrying his belt and walking into the garage. Man was I not prepared
I literally he was just going to have an episode of where he'll turn to drugs or alcohol again and that he was already pretty wasted. When I saw him put his hat down, man I already started crying.
He feeds his dog not as a last favor but as a distraction so he doesn’t follow him while he gets high (which would take time) and then completes suicide, because he knows his dog would follow him wherever. This is the definition of having a plan in the back of your head of how you might do it.

Bradley Cooper absolutely nailed this scene! I have no idea how he was able to connect to the amount of shame a drug addict feels at that moment when they're going to end their life. I myself am a survivor of attempted suicide by hanging. If it wasn't for the quick-thinking brother of mine notifying the sheriff's department I would not be alive today. I am a drug addict in recovery and understand firsthand the amount of shame an addict or alcoholic feels at their lowest point. Please if you know a person that's suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction get some help for them. Don't judge them we need people who will love them through their darkest moments

What's going on here? The scene where Elli ends the concert and you can see the picture of the dog lying in front of the garage. Take a look at the second window from the left. There you can see Jackson's body dangling from the ceiling. But you can't see his neck, his feet or anything. You can only see everything down from the neck. So his shoulders his stomach etc. And there you can see him dangling around. Of course he killed himself. Of course he killed himself with the belt. It is of course not shown and that is the great thing about this scene. My goodness

No, while he was clinically depressed and he was getting better slowly, Alli's manager had talked to him about how he was a bad influence on her. Since this was at a time when he was slowly getting better (most people are vulnerable at this stage) and after having a conversation with Alli, he finally decided that she is better off without him.

Very well put. It’s a frustrating movie because it’s telling it how it is. There’s no hope. It’s a glimpse into the black hell that depression gets you in when the people around you let you rot from the inside out. For me, a depression sufferer, this movie could fuck itself.
The movie was ok, but it felt rushed and I didn't feel connected to Cooper or Gaga's character. When he killed himself, it sucked but it wasn't very impactful.
I thought it was well executed. I think both Jackson and Ally felt like they could be real musical artists, and Jackson’s struggle with alcoholism and depression really did feel realistic and reminded me of numerous actual artists who ‘embarassed’ themselves publically and were humiliated rather than sympathized with (Britney Spears being one. Everybody mocked her but she was being manipulated by her parents).
I really felt the connection between them two.... But after Ally signing to that one label, that's when Ally start bit of changing in a bad way..... It's not because their connection's bad, it's all are because that is the plot actually is, and I really appreciate that.. even though it's all are because of that one jerk manager of Ally.... Their chemistry is really deep. I'm fell in love once I saw them together in the scene.. It's all broken because of that one label.... I hope that they can be together and married.... And living that love life together without that jerk manager.... Ally & Jack, i wish you better ..... I love you ❤️

@@thefirstbourne149I mean the producer wasn’t wrong. Jackson had a problem with drugs and alcohol and he was only going to keep getting worse, as you can see through the movie. He went to rehab yes, but that was too far into the addiction. The producer literally just said that when Allys career really takes off and she becomes bigger that he doesn’t want the alcohol and drugs around her because it would just be the same cycle.
This is an accurate representation of suicide. Right down to the scene where his shoes tilt while walking. I know cos I was in the exact situation.

No, while he was clinically depressed and he was getting better slowly, Alli's manager had talked to him about how he was a bad influence on her. Since this was at a time when he was slowly getting better (most people are vulnerable at this stage) and after having a conversation with Alli, he finally decided that she is better off without him.

Why did he kill himself
Jack was a generous, kind, broken man desperate for help and completely alone. His bitch wife could care less about helping him if it meant missing a concert. And don’t even get me started with that pompous prick of a producer. He didn’t need to be a good man, he already was, he just needed someone to be there for him. And when he gave all he had to everyone, none of them returned the favor. He was there for everyone, but no one was ever there for him (except his brother until he too just let his brother (who clearly needs constant supervision) be completely alone and let his addiction get in his head and lose who he truly was. Jack had no ego and believed he was nothing but a problem that needed to die. Fuck this movie it just shows how little people care about broken humans. Very sad. Tragic character
Very well put. It’s a frustrating movie because it’s telling it how it is. There’s no hope. It’s a glimpse into the black hell that depression gets you in when the people around you let you rot from the inside out. For me, a depression sufferer, this movie could fuck itself.

The movie was ok, but it felt rushed and I didn't feel connected to Cooper or Gaga's character. When he killed himself, it sucked but it wasn't very impactful.
I thought it was well executed. I think both Jackson and Ally felt like they could be real musical artists, and Jackson’s struggle with alcoholism and depression really did feel realistic and reminded me of numerous actual artists who ‘embarassed’ themselves publically and were humiliated rather than sympathized with (Britney Spears being one. Everybody mocked her but she was being manipulated by her parents).
I really felt the connection between them two.... But after Ally signing to that one label, that's when Ally start bit of changing in a bad way..... It's not because their connection's bad, it's all are because that is the plot actually is, and I really appreciate that.. even though it's all are because of that one jerk manager of Ally....
Their chemistry is really deep. I'm fell in love once I saw them together in the scene..
It's all broken because of that one label.... I hope that they can be together and married.... And living that love life together without that jerk manager....
