@@poza55555 Saarc - no meetings since last 2 years i think. India pak at loggerheads. BBIN - infra projects - objections raised by Bangladesh ,Bhutan parliaments. Envt clearance , opposition not in favour there. They see India as all dominating rather than a equal partner. RCEP - India didn’t join as amany of its objections in the agreement were not discussed and deliberated that would have served our interest. E.g With regards to import policies and free trade , China would b able to dump and can adversely affect our domestic industries. SCO - provides a platform for India China Pakistan and All time ally of India - Russia to have constructive dialogue. More relevant due to involvement of Central Asian countries and India sees that as it gateway to the Middle East and for some strategic imports.

This is where SCO platform helps - cultivate C Asian countries while initiatives like INSTC materializes. Additionally, Russia's soft belly is now firmly under chinese influence and Russia-india have shared interests in countering chinese heagenomy over energy amd natural resources of C Asia. Next,BRI proposes to completely turn this region into chinese extended market. SCO feeds into closer defence ties, Developmental aid and ensure our connectivity projects and other interests are not irreversibly damaged.

Hi Amit, as always thanks for the excellent video and your calm and soothing voice. On the benefits of SCO, I would like to notes these points. While it is true that this is a China centric organization, it has helped India to discuss the over-arching regional issues like terrorism, military and economic cooperation (not to mention showcase the pettiness of Pakistan - Junagadh Really????). Additionally, SCO provided the platform for discussions between External Affairs Ministers and Defense Ministers of India and China during the height of the tensions in Eastern Ladakh during which Mr. Jaishankar and Mr. Wang Yi came together to agree on the "5 point agreement" to break the ice and start the dialog. (These discussions happened on the sidelines of the SCO) Although this is not a direct benefit, I think it is important to keep a close eye on your enemies and the SCO provides a great opportunity for India to do just that. China claims to use this forum as an opportunity to promote "peace and understanding" while pursuing expansionist policies and creating border issues with all its neighbors including the Central Asian countries like Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (all are part of the SCO). While India has shown great restraint to avoid raising bilateral issues on this multi-lateral forum, this provides opportunities to expose the Chinese hypocrisy in a diplomatic manner while improving ties in the region esp. with the energy rich Central Asian countries from which India wants to buy natural gas.
Its better to be at the high table than staying out. India can look into the policies of the key rivals and formulate counter plans. Who knows, in future India may find some utility of sco.
India's best bet is to pick away at Tibet. Tibetans are pro-Indian, communist China has zero legitimacy (they gave up sovereignty over Tibet in 1911) and the people hate Chinese rule. Taking Tibet will be the key to putting the Chinese people back into their place

After the Galwan Valley clash, an article in 'The Hindu' called upon India to resign from SCO and RIC. So is that a good call to take or just for being a part of something we are being a member of SCO? Can we not see this in context of RCEP where India left it (for defined reasons)? Can we cut off our ties with SCO completely?
If we leave SCO... we will give free hand to Pakistan and China to peddle their bogus narratives on such big platform...just because we have serious issues with some member countries doesn't mean that we leave it... we should use it for the best of our economic and strategic use.... But Israel and USA did leave UNHRC...isn't it so... it is politically biased... didn't took any measures for ensuring dignity to uygher muslim in China and none action whatsoever related to China's autocracy to suppress protests in Hong Kong....now coming to SCO...the central asian countries are also a part of it... we don't have much regional groupings with all such countries except for ashgabat agreement... but these countries are important for us from trade and energy point of view...on the sidelines of SCO we can build more confidence, trust and a sense of mutual benefit in trade that too by taking Russia alongside... See...
