    First time I met someone wearing this pattern I couldn't help but laugh. Five minutes later he disappeared right before my eyes, ten meters away, behind a couple of leafs. Since then it has become my favourite camouflage pattern. It is *incredibly* effective in the forest, and also works great against old-gen NVGs

    I really can't express how much I love this camouflage. Im in Florida, and its incredibly difficult to find a good camouflage that works here. Its a tropical environment; wide open fields and then thick green vegetation. KLMK's bright green works great here (tropical growth is shades lighter than normal greenery), and the white gives the effect of sunlight shining off of leaves and through branches.
    Furthermore, what alot of people dont take into effect is that shadows make alot of camouflages look alot darker, especially if the camouflage is already dark. See, when you take dark green and a medium brown and put them in the shadows, it makes it even darker, often creating dark silhouettes. However, when you take a lighter camouflage like KLMK into the shadows, it blends in alot better. While it may not be great against browns and such, you also have to remember that most times during warfare you're not just standing still and hiding; you're moving around or looking for cover. Sure, this wouldnt work if you were hoping to stand frozen against a tree and hope nobody notices you; but when you're moving quickly through the foliage, making sure to duck behind tropic growth for partial concealment, this camouflage works great.

      @@MrDarkastar Hi, I have used vegatato here and while it is acceptable in some areas I would not recommend it. I use multicam tropic, I believe Spain produces a woodland with green and gray that I believe would be the most effective camouflage here but I dont have any samples of it so I use MC Tropic. Hope this helps

    That green fits the foliage very well, and the white spots trick the eye into thinking it's normal sunlight coming through the treetops. Looks simple enough that someone might even be able to make it themselves.

    Works really well. And it is a simple pattern. The light spots break up the outline pretty well. It definently the opposite of what we were taught in the marines. It looks like it should not work. But it does.

    • @tangle70
      @tangle70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      TheTyrial86 I was also surprised that it worked that well.

    • @BigChiefWiggles
      @BigChiefWiggles 9 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      TheTyrial86 The propaganda about the ineptitude of Russian military manufacturers is just that, most of the stuff they released was tested very thoroughly and it works, this pattern was relatively quick and easy to manufacture in its time and while its outdated by now it was very effective back then. Especially in Russian forests where birch trees are common and the white spots are somewhat "natural" to the eye.

    • @TheTyrial86
      @TheTyrial86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BigChiefWiggles V Well some of their technology was outdated even then. Some of their aircraft and tanks were aswell.
      But I do agree not everything they make is junk.

    • @BigChiefWiggles
      @BigChiefWiggles 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      TheTyrial86 This is usually when I ask for an example of Russian or Soviet junk weapons (at the time of manufacture), obviously comparing a 1960s tech piece to a modern one isnt the point, we are talking an example or two of "this piece of equipment came out and was mass produced and was junk because ...". I have yet to receive an answer.

    • @TheTyrial86
      @TheTyrial86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BigChiefWiggles V No I meant the T 82 tank vs the Abrams. And their current military aircraft vs our aircraft at the time. Of the 1970's through the 1990's. The only time they had an upper hand was at the beginning of the cold war. Also their APC's were death traps at any period. Also the RPG 7 is a death trap aswell. Ounce the warhead is inserted into the launcher it is armed. So all those movies you see with a guy that has an RPG but is running around with it loaded is not contrary to real life.

    "Heavily wooded" is a relative term. I live right near the Hoh rainforest, so this looks lightly wooded to me, but for the American SW it's pretty darned shady. That little creek looks like a great spot to hang a hammock and spend a lazy summer afternoon.
    As soon as I saw that KLMK pattern I knew it was a winner for woodland. The very light cream patches are great for mimicking the kind of sun dappled underbrush that we see in forrests, and the green isn't too washed out. In my environment you almost can't get bright enough green camo to match the flora; OD just looks brown by comparison.
    CadPat is good up here, but that KLMK is excellent too. Thanks for showing us this.

    Funny thing about KLMK: Originally, it wasn't designed primarily to camouflage the figure as much as it was intended to counter the Starlight and other first-generation night vision goggles and scopes. The first-gen, unrefined scopes had very high contrast between dark and light, with generally the main features visible being the face and hands. By adding the blotches, KLMK baffled the scope user by adding more blotches of light and making it harder to clearly identify the figure. One would think that would make it redundant now that second and third generation night-vision is around, but Russian troops still wear both it and the later berezka, generally recce elements of the VDV and GRU. This video does a great job of demonstrating just why it's still in use, besides looking amazing.
    As Russian camouflages go, you should take a look at the reversible, mottled green and mottled brown Chimera suits. Currently, they're just commercial, meaning they haven't been adopted by the Russian military. However, it is in testing and has apparently seen limited use with irregulars and special forces (who to a great extent augment their kits with commercially bought items, unlike the more standardized militaries of the West).

    Thanks for fine video! Do you have in plans to make video with the Russian camouflage "digital"?

      tor020661 I would love too but the Russian patterns are difficult for me to get my hands on at a good price. I've got my eyes open for them though.

    Brent I think you should try also the digital flora camo of Russia that was used by the VDV in Crimea's annexation anyway its also effective on a vegetative or woodland environment thanks for the great video of yours Oorah!!!

    In a lot of these scenarios you can tell theres something odd about a particular shape in the middle of the forest but you cant tell its a person. I can see someone (including myself) looking at this odd object, not realizing what it is and completely ignoring it

    was that the light green and white cotton or the dark green and and tan burlap....one piece or two piece suit...but a good video..what was the year of manufacture i would guess late 80s or early 90s by the strait pocket on the blouse and i have seen so many varients of this...

    Great vid. Amazing how effective a seemingly basic two-toned pattern can be. The only time I could imagine it having a major performance fail would be in windy conditions on a bright day as the sun highlighted foliage would be bouncing all over the place and really catching the eye whilst the light patches of the camo would be clearly static. Other than that - what a great camo. Cheers Brent.

    I still have a Spetsnaz/desant coverall from the 1980s. It has a sewn on hood and elastic wrists and ankles. The rear waist is open and held together by two metal buttons. The cammo is reversible with a night desert type inner. We got a whole sackful of them from a SovArmy officer in the Baltic District. Anyone know about the design history of these coveralls?

    Between this "white bereska" and the "partizan ss Leto" is difficult to know wich one works better. Or wich is more suitable for different terrains.
