Sheeesh, I’m still mind blown at all the prep that went into this film, but it makes sense after seeing the final piece! And Kylee pulling up 🔥🔥🔥 dynamic duo has arrived 😮💨
I want to thank you for taking the time to do this and in creating this master piece of a film... I sent you an email about re broadcasting this film in my country on Television. Thank you again!
looking at the process of making and then the movie is really something. the final result seems so natural (easy) but behind the scenes are a massive work. Great short film!
TH-cam video or full on documentary!? Great video as always man! Y'all definitely incapsulated the dating scene in LA lol. Loved seeing your production process and I appreciate the peak behind the curtain on what you struggled with and how you overcame it/worked within the constraints you had. Keep up the good work!
👋🏾 Hey Ryan, I’ve been a subscriber for years now and love your content; but I gotta say these new videos focusing on film along with the behind the scenes videos and breakdown…, is absolutely my favorite ❤️ series of videos you’ve made so far! It’s truly insightful for us aspiring filmmakers and really equips us with the knowledge and tools we need to be successful in our own filmmaking endeavors. I appreciate all the transparency and openness you shared in this video about the process, cost, and fundraising etc. It’s been so exciting to watch and motivates me to get out there and make my passion projects. And bro the short film is so dope! The look, feel, and characters of the film came together so great and actually seems like it was done by a well established production company. Much success to you and your future projects bro! I can’t wait to see what films you do next. 👏🏾
Amazing breakdown! As an aspiring film student, I love these kinds of videos. Thanks for motivating me and putting out such high quality content. Keep it up!
I heard you say you had problems with the contrast in the white apartment. Completely neg out the whole ceiling and every wall that isn't in frame. Black table cloth works amazing for this. Keep up the fantastic work as always
Ryan, I found you channel and was hoping to learn the BTS steps which your video covered thoroughly. Thank you for making this and explaining the steps.
I love pre-pro tbh AND Milanote. Definitely going to take inspiration from how Kylee set up the film’s board as I am currently in pre-pro for a short i’m directing in the spring 👀… good to see your process overall. also, it was a good reminder for me to not let storyboarding / shotlisting go to the wayside aha… I’m a cinematographer before I am anything else so tbh my mentality has been “i’m not even worried about that” since it’s what I typically do also I have an amazing camera / g&e behind me. but definitely won’t neglect that part even if i’m not that pressed about it 😅
Shooting close ups was not a mistake for me cos like you said, you had to utilize few locations and make them look like multiple spaces. Great work overall. Love the movie
Hey mate, on 4:55 you can spot the number for a frame! Thought it would be nice to mention it. Besides that, I found your channel a few days ago and think it's really nice and chill!
@@RyanKao It was really good, currently me and my group of crew-friends are working on our own indie short and this was helpful. done a lot of music videos but short films... never! I'd be really grateful if you could dive into the screenwriting a bit more, the software used, the thought process, the character creation and these things
Glad you enjoyed this one. Thank you!! As for Notion, it used to be a huge part of my workflow. I've really changed up my process the last year or so and haven't used it as much. Still an amazing program, I just like to switch it up as my process changes from time to time.
Hey Ryan, I had a question about the Camera Setup. Your short film really inspired me and I am shooting my first short film next month. For the camera you had mentioned in a different video it was shot in Slog3. 10 bit 422. So my confusion is were you using a custom lut on the Monitor & Ipad Monitor plus App to view the image in Rec 709? I have been trying to figure if you shot in a normal color profile or SLOG 3. I don't want to see the greyed out image from SLOG 3 so was wondering how you set it up for viewing for the director & first AC. I am shooting on the sony A74 btw. Thanks.
Hey!! So glad you liked this one. So to answer your questions-yes, I am using a LUT on both the AC monitor as well as iPad. The app I'm using on the ipad is Monitor+ in the app store to connect to the camera's wifi/bluetooth. Works great! To get a Rec709 image out of the HDMI on the A74, you need to enable Gamma Display Assist in the menu. That should do it! Let me know if you need any more help and I'm here
@@RyanKao hey thank you so much for replying, does the paid version of Monitor + comes with Rec709 luts to load until the iPad? I tried enabling the gamma display assist on my camera but it only works on the camera screen and not the Monitor for some reason. The monitor only receives the log output.
Also do you sell your Slog 3 - Rec 709 luts? I am using the ones from Sony I downloaded but for some reason they darken the image doesn’t look like the gamma assist display on the camera monitor.
damn wifey producer. that's so inspiring, when Sandra Oh marry to a surgeon doctor in Grey's Anatomy series. she become as surgeon too. hmm for me marry to a filmmaker hahahahahaha savage

Kylee debut is more hype than any MCU reveal.
YES

Appreciate this Benji! A lot of hard work... but overall I'd say it paid off in both of our eyes! Thanks man 🙏
Film riot talks about this software too studio binder is good too.
Amazing how much work you all put in this film. The part when you both say about feeding the crew is so true.
A lesson to be a learned! We all really appreciate it. Thanks for the watch!

Her having watched like 14 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, she appreciates this comment. Haha it's a fun dynamic for us both. Thanks for watching!!
@@RyanKao haha wow, I stopped watching Grey's after S13.
title is misleading, doesn't look like netflix quality at all
Yes it does lol
Are we watching the same thing because it definitely does look Netflix Quality. Actually much Better than a few things I’ve watched on there recently.
