Hearing Aimen say “buried” all fucked up and Canadian and not getting flamed for 5 minutes makes me feel a sense of loss
makes me sick
Ever heard a Canadian say "Route"?
My ex who was American said it like that too. Drove me nuts 😂
@Noah-lj2sg for me, as an American (and a fellow Noah), the context in which im using the word tends to change how I pronounce it. If I'm ever using a phrase like "en route," I tend to pronounce it like the word root; versus just talking about a climbing route or most other situations, I tend to pronounce it as rɑʊt
@@TauntsForDayskreizi cool to spot IPA in the wild, love to see it
A THREE HOUR podcast with Aimen Gamin?? That's what the fuck I'm talkin about baby
We love to see it and I myself have milked several tasks out of this episode lol
His body just doesn’t quit
Hitch slowly gathering all the yard guys like the infinity stones. Now we just need slime and ludwig
There’s no way slime ever agrees to go on the pod
@@meatballjesus6131If slime is on this pod, it's either a body snatcher or a winter solder situation.
@@meatballjesus6131 welp
aiden is so well spoken i could listen to him talk for hours
oh boy do i have a podcast for you
i couldnt.
@@TheHandyMan101no need for the youtube psychologist lmao
real
I can’t believe this was 3 hours! The storytelling was so seamless and interesting! I was sad to see it end. So nice to learn even more about the life of Aiden. Yes, I am that “little bit older” Mom who loves the Yard guys and now I follow The Around the Bar Podcast. Keep up the great work. Janet
omg thats so cool. its awesome to see your comments over the years :)
seeing him and nick on here has gotten me starting to watch the yard lol
@@Jrizz you won’t be disappointed, all 4 guys bring their own uniqueness to the group. Some of the older episodes are super funny! I try to never miss!
seeing Aimen from this side is weird
i love how whatever podcast aiden is on, he breaks how long it is LMAO
All the doc talk really got me emotional.
It was also because of the doc that I started my own journey in esports, and last year I ran the second biggest Smash Bros Ultimate tournament in LATAM.
Amazing episode.
That’s so sick!
Oh man! First Nick and now Aiden. My mom loves the Yard and she’s going to be super excited to watch this.
Just finished watching! Love my Yard guys. And now I’ve become a fan of Around the Bar! First Nick (great interview too) and now Aiden! Such a GREAT storyteller and all around great guy. Good job Aiden! Love, Janet
Same with my mom. I wish she could speak english tho.
Aiden is such a kind, smart and just all around great person. Thanks for doing a three hour episode because I think he warrants it. What a great mind!
Aiden breaking down over the company tournament is what affirmed to me that they are genuine friends
got chills more than once in this episode - loved how so much of this episode went into the purely human drive that fuels competition, community, and personal achievement. edit: hitch stop being embarrassed about being 35.
Melee players are the skateboarders of esports
So real
Melee is street ultimate is vert
fuck it fits so well @@d0onut
Melee players are the badminton players of esports, cuz you get no social cred normally, but you are a god damn machine
i love to listen to aiden speak and while i love the yard and the whole needling aimen bit, i really appreciate getting to listen to my goat uninterrupted for hours
Can confirm about getting introduced to melee because of the yard and Ludwig. The LACS introduced me to competitive melee and it looked so deep and fun to play, combined with the fact everybody seems so close. I googled and found my local scene in Denmark with a friend and now we attend locals weekly in my city. Attended Valhalla IV and met a lot of cool dudes, thx Aiden and the rest of the yard.
Also love hearing about T.O-ing legit might want to start T.O-ing or at least helping create events.
This just might be the best episode of ATB yet. Aiden is such an amazing dude and as person who is in both cod and Melee, this episode is three hours of great content
This might be my favorite episode to date, wasn't familiar with aiden til now, beautiful convo
same. that's another plus to this pod. get to be introduced to so many amazing new people I wasn't familiar with until these
36:55 aiden and yingo acid episode would be fucking hilarious
Aiden stays being the most personable and endearing man in esports
Absolutely amazing. Aiden got me in my feels when talking about the smash houses. Back in 2017ish I would have anywhere from 2-6 people come over almost every night to smoke and drink and, most importantly, play Melee. Some of the best years of my life, and even though most of those friends have moved on, I haven’t. Melee will always be apart of my life now.
Ah, Aiden John Iain McCaig, what a guy
i've heard he has very small balls. like very tiny balls. some of the smallest i've ever seen tbh.
That opening story is so heartwarming honestly
god i FUCKING love aiden lmao that whole rant about the hugs kamaster set and not owing anyone anything lmaooo go OFF king oh my god
Aiden is so right about the Yards success.
I showed up to the podcast for Ludwig and stayed for the dynamic.
and I only learned about Ludwig from his interview with Ironmouse on her show
Im still watching so idk if Aiden mentions it, but you can learn about the Pakistani Tekken story through Core-A Gaming's video called the miracle of Pakistani tekken, and its just a beautiful story and I super duper recommend it and the whole core-a gaming channel to anyone who is interested in competitive gaming, even if you don't care about fighting games because there's so much stuff about competitive mentality that is super interesting to learn about.
Best of both worlds moment here: the offseason was the first melee tournament I attended and I went because I heard about it on the yard :)
Great job with keeping the flow of the interview hitch super cool stuff.
Love the set for this! Seeing the guy make the drinks makes it so much better.
Love this episode. I’m watching it in school rn lmao. Pls do more, i love when I get to see the tweet pop up on my timeline.
Looked up the grand finals of The Gang tournament: Captain Smuckers went off. That was insane
this is one of my favorite podcast episodes ever, Aiden getting the chance to talk about his history with Melee is always a treat
Aiden is the best. Glad you got to have him on the podcast.
Also: The pokemon red and blue event you talked about would be super cool!
First the after third guys get Nick and now this? I get like two and a half yards this week, this rocks
this is my favorite interview podcast right now. i really appreciate how hitch like, actually treats it as a conversation instead of a soundbyte youtube shorts farm
I absolutely love this format, I gotta get in on the patreon
I love hearing Aiden and Nick talk about getting into esports and production because that is such an ideal career path for me in my mind but feels so out of reach, especially not being in a place like socal where maybe that opportunity is more approachable
Aiden wasn't in socal
brother I'm not even from the US it seems even more impossible here.
@Noah-lj2sg when he was in bts? maybe he engaged his interest and learned elsewhere but I'm definitely not aware of a lot of opportunities where I'm at.
great pod hitch, feels weird hearing old cod scene stories brings me back. the killa thing was gold and way to true he did that way to much
3 hour pod wow thank you :) adore this show
love to see a fellow northwestern washington kid make it. super motivational
Love the visual effort put into the podcast!
i can’t believe how much i enjoyed the 3 hours of this ep. i admire aimen so much. he just sounds like such a good person.
"to this day i'm right, I know i'm right"
he's so real ty for reminding me to like the video aimen my fuckin goat
The yardboys rag on aimen a lot, but he is genuinely a super compelling conversationalist. Very cool man
What a fantastic show. Excellent work Mr Aiden and cod man
31:50 melee is like gymnastics
I hope one day I could sit down and have a conversation with Aiden
Shoutout Seattle scene! Rad to hear about the Tuk-house and some of the history - never really did a ton of smash, but met a lot of my homies through the scene
always having been a fan of optic content and then a fan of the yard since its beginning - this and Nick's episode are like jimmy timmy power hours for me
Great ep
Really good episode
🔥🔥🔥AIMEN CALVIN THE FUCKING COD/MELEE/LOL/VAL KING OF GAMING🔥🔥🔥
forgot about mkwii :/
Hitch do a around a bar with teepee that would be fire ❤
Aimen is the goat of appearing on other people's podcasts
I mean that might be overstating it but he's great at it
I love listening to Aimen talk
amazing episode. So sick to see aiden and you just chat and hang out
so funny seeing the brick of a chapter that is the smash doc
The timing of this ep with Genesis is so perfect
Adien is Melees sweetheart
It's so sad aiden didn't live long enough to see the release of this episode; he wouldve love it 🕊🕊🕊🕊
the thought of the yard D&D causes me great joy
goated episode
The whole smash house thing is so real, when I was in college my roommate was a smash guy and over time after we didn’t live together his place became the smash house. I suck at smash but had some great times drinking and getting the boys together
TST being my fave stream and yard my fave podcast this and the Nick ep get me hyped
Loved it, Aimen is a wonderful guest :D
Also, the pokemon event is a sick idea
Hey hitch, I love your voice and it reminds me of Chris Van Vleit so much!
Currently living in a melee house lol
I started watching the Yard because I had been watching Ludwig for so long I already knew all four of them, now I’m seeing them all doing their own things with a growing audience and it’s really cool. Love seeing Aiden drink too adkjskakalajsla
Slime would be fire on the pod, love the long ep 🙌
34:35 people can and do this. We had several varsity football players who marched the halftime show with the rest of the band. Crazy commitment though
He’s getting so big for us
1:43:59 same reaction LMAO
best podcast intros
3 hours? its gonna be a good day
aiden with the snapback and glasses does just immediately looks like a CoD player its so true
What a great episode. What is the smash documentary that they talk about though?
Holy shit 3 hours this was amazing
The whole chunk of the pod where Aimen is getting heated at redditors from years ago is fantastic, 5 stars
The Off Season 3 being teased has me hyped! We're gonna quadruple the Guitar Hero attendance this year 🙏
Subspace Emissary references make my life go on
we love aimen gamin
I've played melee at most like 40 hours, of that maybe 2 hours have been "serious". However, I'm a competitive person, through sports and video games, and the parallels are all there. Learning tactics and seeing advancement and improvement in an individual is as interesting in melee as it is in any other competition. It's all gripping and entertaining
Our goat real shi
Melee is the water polo of esports. You look at it and you dont want to do it but you appreciate the level of play.
Aiden is a great storyteller
2:25:45
the Arslan Ash stuff is mostly correct haha, but it was actually that he showed up to Evo *Japan* and won with nobody knowing who he was. that photo, the one of him praying, is from when he won the main Evo, the one in Vegas, which was the same year as the Evo Japan surprise victory, but by that point Arslan was the favorite already. so like, he was an unknown when he won Evo Japan in like January or February or whatever, but then he also won the main Evo in July or August that year, and that's what that praying photo is from. still, this was all in the course of half a year, so the essence of the way you told it is still true
3 HOURS OF AIMEN YES
aiden is no longer the lead event organizer for ludwig's events!? he's so good at it tho.
anyone else wanna bet that aiden’s gonna help TO the mario kart part of that event
aimen gaminnnnn
Aimen is Gamin Fr fr
You’re gonna tell me his actual name isn’t Aiden Calvin 😭
I love Aiden
Aimen came alive in the back half.
Aiden gives me hope the yard will last for 100 years
damn aiden rocks a GTI? That's pretty sick
can someone explain the paintball jersey??
Melee players are like that one movie about double Dutch
Yo, I’m a bit late but I will 100% watch a Samox ep
that sucks that aimen is gone RIP
yard viewers try to not haunt everyone else with dead bits challenge
@@MirtualI'm not regurgitating a dead bit, I'm shilling QT's merch store that is online to this day
