I've been listening to the performance of this song filmed at Bluegrass Underground for about a year and thought it couldn't be topped, but I was wrong -- this performance reveals a more mature, confident and swinging group -- the interplay between the three is truly cool, and Sarah's singing has also grown remarkably. Outstanding!
We already know how awesome this trio is...I'd like to comment on the fantastic job the audio engineer did! Kudos to you. Microphones are well matched to the instruments, the audio levels are dialed in and the sound stage is perfectly balanced. Love the microphone used for Sarah, it really delivers on the depth and the true warmth of her vocals.
Few people here actually have something to say. Thanks, I don't have the experience to say it as well as you, but this is a great piece of production. My ears say the reverb in the recording is more native to the instruments than a post production or level thing. Very immediate and present feel.
I’m glad she changed the note on “you say your okay” from the original, going down to the chord tone instead of holding the note through. I do love the original with harp, but this is a wonderful version.
It's like a dream watching and hearing Sarah, Nat and Alex play together... like a dream floating through a musical carpet ride through stretches of "Musical Heaven" 🛸 🌎 Could there ever be a chance that Sarah, Nat, Alex, Jeff (Picker), and Anthony (Decosta) could put together a 60 minute (or longer!!!) jam session??? WOW oh WOW!!!)🎶🎅🎶 WHAT A WISH!!!
Love this. The 3 of you play so well together, everything just fits perfectly musically...I give it a big "Right On" You all are amazing musicians. :-)
I’ve seen her before very talented I’m she spread her wings 👩🏼🦳the mandolin playing is great as usual 🌺☕️ the other two gentlemen are very talented musicians just great
Very well put. I completely agree. What happened to Hargreaves (violin) and Smith (cello). From what I hear they were together for 5 years. I was there when they toured together with the Milk Carton Kids for one of the best concerts I have ever seen or heard.
She has been playing with Aoife O'Donovan and Sara Watkins in the group I'm With Her, making great music but I must agree this collaboration was/is special and shouldn't be abandoned, if you are reading Sarah.
Seconding what Colorado Paul said about I'm With Her. I also saw an interview where she said the trio's separation was totally amicable and they were just ready to try different things. Not sure about Nathaniel, but Alex and Sarah appear together sometimes as guests on Live From Here. Sarah's new band for the Undercurrent tour was Jeff Picker and Anthony DaCosta, who are also both awesome
You might have to go a while back, because it's off of the album _The Milk-Eyed Mender_ - which came out back in 2004. Joanna may have mentioned it in interviews somewhere.
Hey Joana's lyrics are notoriously deep and cryptic and she never explains them. You might be able to find some good analysis of the song somewhere online though. The way I see it is that the narrator has a sort of superiority complex and the song is an exploration of a relationship between two people wherein one constantly has to be in control of the other. So even when they love someone, they'll constantly think of them as a lesser being. It sometimes also makes me think of cults where the leaders play with the minds of their followers constantly drowning them in feelings of guilt and inferiority. "Pray that what you lack does not distract". The best thing about Joanna's songs is you can revisit them years later and still find new things.
@@aka4146 Oh no. It's by an incredible artist Joanna Newsom. I'd highly recommend her music. She's honestly in a completely different league to any lyricist or musician on the scene.
The amazing singer songwriter bluegrass sound of Sarah Jarosz with their new song hit - "Book of Right-On". Quality studio sound, vintage instruments, original song arrangements & lyrics makes their music wonderfully... and highly pleasing to the ear. :) Check out SARAH JAROSZ a 22- year-old, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who hails from just outside Austin, Texas at acltv.com/artist/sarah-jarosz/
Aw man, what's with the 5 minute ad that can't be skipped? I understand wanting to make a bit off people streaming your music but 5 minutes? that's almost longer than the song!
Why do you pronounce every word so precisely? This isn"t a dissertation, nor are we grading your diction. Skid the words a bit at the ends, drop vowels here and there. Make the delivery a bit more mysterious. Youre welcome
It’s amazing that this is a two-chord song!
This girl talented. She just blows me away.

Just beautiful. I just watched her on Austin City Limits, along with the Milk Carton Kids. Both were outstanding !

Overwhelming talent and imagination.
Why do they no longer play together? What a loss! The three of them made such beautiful music together.
Totally agree!! The three of them together had such a synergy. It was almost as though they formed one musician.
Very well put. I completely agree. What happened to Hargreaves (violin) and Smith (cello). From what I hear they were together for 5 years. I was there when they toured together with the Milk Carton Kids for one of the best concerts I have ever seen or heard.
