Their music was deep. No other band will ever make this kind and standard of music that is sophisticated and cultured. Tony Subam was rhe perfect front man. RIP... 💗 Thank you for gifting us with your music.

A generation that was buried with time and tears. PNG lost a sound and forgot to tap into its own unique heritage, and that generation will be lost forever. My heart for.music rests with this kind. Love you Sanguma music, God's given sounds, yet forgotten.....

True... Our current crop of talent should go back and incorporate our music into the Western contemporary music to bring the special taste in order to export our music world wide.we can't beat the West in their own style we have to come up with our own

New generation of musicians got indulged with modern music style and I suppose pride took control of all and they have all forgotten about the traditional style they supposed to deliver png music and yes its sad det it will never be typed into again I suppose...

A true privilege to watch them as children in the 80s. Their music still runs deep today and surpasses anything young current PNG musicians have on the air. Music is part of our Culture and this legendary group wholly embraced a holistic embodiment of Every PNG culture through their songs. ❤❤❤❤. Bikpla respect stap long Sanguma Band

Awesome group and players. Fun guys I worked with them in the early 1980's when they played Hawaii. Mixed their sound and was their roadie. Hi Tony!

David, do you know if there's footage of Sanguma's live concert at EXPO 1988 on the river stage in Brisbane? I was there and enjoyed watching the gig - awesome sound.

had the pleasure playing with Sanguma's in their reunion get together in Pom...my uncle Raymond Hakena(saguma drummer) was one of my biggest influences together with Martin Hamei (April Sun bassist)...who made pick up the guitar...Saguma band is out of this world...they've set the standard for PNG music, no band surpasses these great musicians in terms of jazz fusion contemporary arrangements...it was a privilege having had met some of them and sharing stage with some these great musicians...they leave behind a legacy...

❤ Sanguma Band. I was humbled to have been taught music at the age of 10years old, by the late Mr Buruka Tau and Uncle Tony Subam. I played the Clarinet and later the Saxophone. Our school band had the privilege of playing Yalikoe at the Sir John Guise stadium when the Olympic touch came to PNG. I am forever thankful for the Sanguma Band, not only for producing great music but also for putting our culture out on the world stage

Big Ups to Anton Subam ( TONY) from Yabob Madang. He is looking down from Heaven and rolling his own special herbal concoctions. Yu Rest In Peace, my primary school class mate from Madang. 😎🏝☮️🐋🌴

*SANGUMA* Was privileged to have jammed with (late) Paul WIGGY Yabo who was Sanguma's Pianist & Keyboardist (actually singing and playing piano on this concert video) as session musicians for Pacific Gold Studios in POM and Goroka/Hagen Shows in 1996. Paul Yabo was my Music coach at Kerevat National High back in 1991, whilst (late) Tony SORU Subam and Thomas Komboi were my instrument teachers and creative music mentor at FCA-UPNG back in 1992 - 1993 respectively. The charisma and passion imparted was out of this world. It stayed with me as knowledge and guide to express and exhibit QUALITY as how it was supposed to be.....Tenk u tumas SANGUMA BAND for the inspiration! I salute thee! ✊

This music needs to come back. PNG is lost with all this radio bullshit.
Sanguma and the PNG Contemporary Fusion genre is world standard, PNG's own - nothing can ever come close to this level of musical genius in this country.
