I live in Florida USA. I was walking down the street and a gentleman had a classic Mustang outside and I stopped to talk ab out. His car. He said he had a 2000 XK8 convertible for sale. I l I looked and fell in Love. It had been in his garage for eight years, no work on the engine or the body both were awful. I am in the process of bringing it up to what it looks like and was it was in 2000. It looks a lot like your car John. And I love your Channel
Hello John, I concur wholeheartedly with you comments regarding the positive reception the XK8 gets. Cool, understated, powerful, feline, refined, classy, and drop-dead gorgeous are just a few of the comments I've had. My dear, recently departed dad absolutely loved the noise it makes. Just 1 story to share: I was once with my brother-in-law at a garage where both his top-of-the-range, super hi-tech, shiny, newish, huge engined Audi & my XK8 were receiving some specialist attention, and when we arrived to collect our respective cars, the garage owner, complete with huge grin, was gushing about my XK8. "We have the privilege of working on some extremely nice cars here", he said, "But your copper back Jag has generated more interest than anything else we've had in here for some time." Praise indeed, although my brother-in-law was a tad miffed that his mega bucks super Audi had taken a back seat to what is, lets face it, a pretty old-tech car by today's standards! As we were leaving the garage, the owner shook my hand and said, "If you ever want to sell it, let me know." He'll be waiting a long time......
It is just so much more than just a classic, its vids like this that make us really realise and appreciate all the amazing things these cars give us.😊👍
Greetings from Switzerland. I learned a lot from you. Your videos make the winter break more bearable. In German we say: Anticipation is the greatest joy.
Pietro nearly hit the nail on the head when he said that 'Anticipation is the greatest joy'. I immediately thought that he was 100% correct........... then I realised that no, anticipation is not the greatest joy. Watching your videos is. Thank you John, once again.
Thanks, John! You always talk with such great enthusiasm and people like me - who don't know 1% of what you do - feel really appreciated & wanted. I just love your videos and cool, relaxed approach!
The whole spitfire relationship,,,,,,,,,put heckles up my spine and a tear to my eye. my grandad flew spitfire during ww2 , back in the 1980s he was always nagging me for a go on my radio controlled car . I now own a jaguar xkr. I get the distinct feeling he is very pleased for me, and every other free soul, especially those who have bought a Jaaaaaaggggg!!!!! . GREAT CHANNEL , thank you so much.
I have owned a 2005 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, black on black on black for almost a year now. I will probably never sell it. I love having someone point out all the good things about it that I should know and don't and should always remember.
A great summary, with some wonderful references. I love your passion, and sense you got a bit emotional toward the end...talking about the community. This is great, and a massive part of why I am a new owner and want to be part of this brilliant community. Thank you !
This video got me all emotional, John. It made me realise how much I like my XK8. You hit a few of my personal sweet spots. Also, I feel honoured to be a fellow member of JEC. Long live the XK8 , as it continues on its journey towards classic status. Shame those damn footwells rust so badly.........!
Hi John, I have viewed a few of your videos , enjoying them very much and looking forward to Part 3 . I must admit you are turning me on to the XK8. I am now 62, never owned a Jaguar, always allowing myself to be put off by remarks of unreliability, cost a fortune to run Etc. I have recently been looking at getting an S Type post 2004 model but have to say I truly love the look of your XK8. Cheers 2U John, wishing you good health and many more years of happy road trips in your Jaguar XK8
Was wondering if you had been a Jaguar employee at some point, was pleased to hear your connection. As for your Jaguar history lesson: Yes! Please! Would love something about the XJ too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Hi John. Thanks so much for your brilliant channel and contribution to all things XK8. Your contribution is beyond value to fellow fans of these fantastic motor cars. Really looking forward to the final instalment of this series and hope you’re managing to keep safe and well.
Im very well if a little frustrated not to be out open top cruising at the moment Gerard. The final instalment should be out tomorrow internet allowing🤞
Good vlog John. An idea for when we can all go out again, is.maybe organise a meet somewhere central in the UK for all your subs that can get there. Be great to meet you and fellow Jag nuts.
Yes! That’s where I heard it from! I mentioned the spitfire’s wing thing in a video I made but couldn’t remember where I heard it, thanks John for another great video 😎👍
Another great video John, keep up the good work 👍 I always enjoy seeing another clip of you driving along the English Riviera. My wife and I met there nearly 40 year ago and during the summer of 2018, we went back and cruised along the front in our XK top down, sheer bliss 😎😎 Wish I could be there now 😜
Thanks for all you do to help keep these cars on the road! My 1997 XK8 Base Coupe is still going with 267,000 miles. Wondering what is the highest mileage seen on an XK8. Thanks for all you do.
Very well reasoned and put together list. Those little compact ratchets are great. I bought a screwdriver one by a company called BAS that you can change the heads and works like a tiny ratchet
Hi there John, I'm Kevin, a Silver with black leather XK8 owner living in Cape Town, South Africa. I agree with your selection of the top 10 so far and can't wait for the rest... I'm really enjoying your videos. When you mentioned the convertible top as one of the top 10 reasons, and seeing your boot with the cover lying in it, reminded me of something I was wondering about a while ago. Surely Jaguar, having put so much thought into creating this beauty, would allocate a safe place for the soft-top cover to be stored safely, and not have it lying around in the boot getting in the way for owners placing items like golf clubs on it or alternatively having to remove it and replace it on top of the golf clubs. Is it possible that the reason for the two level floor in the boot is meant to be for storage of the soft-top tourney cover? ...or is that not a good place to store it for some reason. Regards, Kevin
Interesting thought Kevin Im not aware that they ever intended that to be the case but Interested to investigate further. It is in a tonneau bag. (I take it your is too? I have thought about attatching it to the vertical panel at the back of the boot myself. I will take another look at this. Good thinking Kevin.

Absolutely spot on about the community (a bit of British slang). One of the best online forums for the Xk8 is Jaguarforums.com. www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ There are also a few on Facebook.
