Hello, I have question about lubrication. Just ordered my first sherline mill. On the website is only "Super-Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease" available. And I might have seen that you use also Grease in other videos. So the new way is to use special grease, instead of light oil? Thanks & best regards

Channel does not appear to be active any more, unfortunately. A great resource. (Don’t have clue, personally.)

I’ve bought the same grease as Sherline recommends, and you can buy it at your hardware store. It works pretty well and it’s a dry grease so it won’t be sticky to attract dust and debris. Oil will work as well, you just have to oil it every time.
As another side note, as he says here, keep oil away from the crosslide top and you can super glue a square piece of paper on the bottom of your tool holders. I used a paper nail envelope, cut the pieces, made a hole in the middle for the screw, a couple drops of super glue on the corners, and voila, it increases the bite while protecting the surface of the table!
This channel was awesome but, since the creator wanted to really pass on his knowledge and experience, it is nothing for the TH-cam public who expects yelling and screaming persona with empty content over great information as found here. It’s sad but true. Nobody is looking to learn stuff the right way but just to look cool. Remember in school when your most boring teachers were the ones teaching you the most? Unless you went to private school where teachers are entertainers with a talent to teach while at it.
Hope it helps you out any others who come here looking for real info!
      Miss this channel too 😢

Do you know what type of oil would be most suitable for lubricating the bearing surfaces on the lathe's bed? I use 3 in 1 oil right now because it's all I have but I'm wondering if there something better for this application.

+Tim Le Sherline recommends a light machine oil, such as mineral oil, and this works well for me. You can get it as sewing machine oil very cheap (look at fabric/craft stores), or go to something fancier like super lube (I will be testing this soon) which offers both a dry spray-on lubricant and a mineral oil based product.
