The fact that Taylor said that if she wasn’t a singer she’d want to be an English teacher makes so much sense because she’s such a great storyteller like honestly

“You have pointed out my flaws again as if i don’t already see them.” This lyric hits so hard. In college, this was the song I used to sing out loud while taking a shower. One of my professors didn’t like me for some reason. She humiliated me in front of my other professors and classmates during my thesis defense. She said I didn’t deserve a graduation certificate. lol if you're a resident doctor you're not quite big enough to take hits just yet, but hopefully you're surrounded by people who wouldn't be mean enough to do so in the first place.
2:04 The fact that Joey is grown up now and Taylor called her to be the lead actress in her new music video is so cute😭I saw the "I can see you" music video about an hour ago and it's so cool❤️
This song makes me root for Taylor like no other song can. She wrote this about a real person and event, and now look at her. She is living the dream! She made it to those big ol’ cities. She just broke a world record for most attended concert by a female artist on her first night of her Eras tour. It’s crazy how you can be so proud of someone you’ve never met, but I am.
I’m no hater. I love taylor since 9. But the TV of mean is kinda lost its feelings. I know. I totally understand that she doesn’t have the same feeling as when she record the stolen version. She showed them that she made it and those people are doing what? 🤣🤣 But as someone who still strugle with the situtation. The stolen version kinda give more vibe of cheering than the TS. Her voice is incredible but I’m gonna miss the feeling old mean gave also her pitching teenage voice she had 😢 Pls don’t hate me 😂 I gave the same reaction in Tiktok but their reaction was not what I thought gonna be, saying i’m a hater 😢
The traditional setting of this song makes this song outstanding...this is the kind of setting that gave Taylor enough energy from the land to be famous, wealthy and unique...very nice
this video makes me cry, especially at the end when the little girl who was the picked on for being different was the one in the audience. it reminds me of my younger self. to the girl who bullied me: i AM living in a “big ole city” now. you’re stuck in that small town with those small minded people. you can never hurt me again with your words, all you are is mean!!!!
Great message in this song... it's so true. When you're in a time and place when the social environment defines you as worthless, it's hard to see outside of that. But things do and will change for everybody, and someday those people won't matter at all to you. It really does change.
I'm so grateful this song exists in this cruel world. I'm so grateful I found taylor swift. Since the beginning I know it's impossible for me to ever stop loving her.
There's always a Taylor song for every problem in life ❤ ***** Update: listen i was a kid when i commented that. It was an innocent comment about how Taylor's old music made me feel better. Ofc she doesn't tackle every issue on the planet, she'd be writing for a very long time if that was the case! Im sorry to those of you who are going through unimaginable things right now, i hope someday soon you heal and get through it ❤
"You have pointed out my flaws again, as if i don't already see them" This line are for all those people who likes to remind us everyday with our insecurities as if we have no idea about it and make us question and compare ourself to others. Accepting oneself is hard when there are people who always try to point out the wrong in you.
Taylor's versatility on a whole different level. This ain't a love song. This is a song proving that you can stand up for yourself. Regardless if that's got something to do with your gender, race, and socioeconomic status. Stay you and be you. Don't be too affected by criticisms. And scrutiny.
I used to listen to this so often, dreaming and wishing that one day I'd be happy and I wouldn't even remember the names of the people who bullied me. Well, guess what. I don't remember their names anymore. I might not be wildly successful, but I'm building a happy life. To any kid out there listening to this to get through the day: it does change. You won't be bullied forever. You're gonna graduate and you're gonna move on, and in the end you'll get to a point where these people don't impact your life at all.
Sophie G. Well commented response,my dear Sophie...One may not tolerate bullying for long...Use your intellect and brains to counteract .. Works all the time. I'm a grown man now... Maybe because I was small as a boy ..Or shy....Those days are gone now...I'm grown...I study people and behavior. I use my brains before I use frustration and fists..I'm good now.😋

I've just become a fan. I'm 58 and this song makes me cry both happy and sad tears. She gets it. This girl is gutsy and lovely and I love that this song won a Grammy. Mean people, bullies and haters don't win in the end. People who believe in themselves and don't quit, they're the winners. GO TAY!!!! 🎉❤
I love how her whole singing career is just a person growing up and the fact that her music represents her true emotions makes me feel even more happy for her, from that teenage girl dealing with everyone's jealousy, than labeled as snake and than just finally free from all the negativity❤
No doubt about that for me personally The message about Mean is Don't let anyone decieve your traits it's not about being popular and things like that or what people in high school say that is false. It's about building your confidence, facing your fears and overall being successful in both your life and career. It's sad that not many people know that espically in my generation and this current generation. And as a Strict Christian who is a Worship Leader it's a lot to take in but when you get into that rhythm of knowing what to do. Then you will see yourself scoring with wings in the sky.
This was my favourite song when I was a teen. Everyone was belittling me for taking a computer science degree (people make fun or are afraid of things they don't know) saying it's a useless degree. I lived in a tight knit village. 4 years later I'm richer and more successful than any one of them. Thanks Taylor ♥
I was mentally and emotionally abused, during a depression I had my first year of high school. He humiliated me, and confronted me in front of everyone. He ruined and manipulated all of my friends. And he ruined my experience with love, however. I now have a wonderful boyfriend, and we plan on moving out with each other to a new city sometime soon!
This song is REALLY inspiring, there's only a couple of hours left until Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and this song is one of my favorites in it. I bet even Taylor herself feels proud of everything she's achieved throughout the years looking back at this song. Hope it inspires everyone to come after the things they want too. 220.218.719 views
She was singing about that she will live in a big city, that she will be more famous and that she will be the biggest superstar in the world! And everyone can make her down! She wouldn’t care about them! Now she lives in New York, is the richest woman in the world and the biggest superstar ever! She has lots of haters too but she doesn‘t care about them 💫 Everything you were singing about 7 years ago, happened to you ❤️ We are so proud of you, Taylor! We love you ❤️
I remember when this song came out I had been struggling with bullies. I acted like it didn't hurt, but I cried myself to sleep every night. I didn't tell anyone about it, not even my best friends. I felt so alone. They told me i was a loser, I was nothing. They made fun of how I looked, how I spoke (I used words that were to big for those idiots to understand), and my race/culture. This song made me feel so much better. I finally stood up to them and no one dares to mess with me or anyone I care about anymore.
Same here too ... I was bullied throughout middle school and high school people still mocked the way I spoke and looked This song was one of my fave and gosh it always got to me

Lol!!! True dat. Ohhh I love her. And also every time she sings this song on the part "how I can't sing" fans scream and she's like seriously? Wove her!!
Dedicated to all those who has suffered from bullying. Thankyou, Taylor for making this song. Some people don't know how serious bullying actually is and Taylor is one of them caring legit singers who actually understands, unlike most rappers you get these days.
Well, personally I think that rappers that you get these days, who teenagers actually look up to... Their not a good role model, and their just not exactly a legit caring singer. I mean like this is like no offence to rapper fans, but that's what I think. I don't think their encouraging teenagers or anybody to not bully.
I dont understand why people bully everybody is special their own way, And i dont care everybody is different, I dont care what other people say. I like everybody but not if they bully! :)
I was the victim of the bullying... once when I was a little kid, and it lasted until I turned 15. I remembered it was 2009 when I swore to myself, I will be on abroad for my bachelor degree and I will be admitted to the one of the best university in the world... and five years after... my dreams come true... now I heard about the one of them who bullied me when I was kid, he became nothing.... except an asshole who makes 3 girls are pregnant.... I believe Karma still does exist... now I still wished to God for lead me to a better me
The girl who used to be bullied became a big name, occupying all of the top 10 Billboard charts. And her bully have to listen to her songs everywhere they go. This song helped me when I was bullied at high school. LOVE TAYLOR❤🇯🇵

Lyrics for u :
You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me
You, have knocked me off my feet again,
Got me feeling like a nothing
You, with your voice like nails
On a chalk board, calling me out when I'm wounded
You, picking on the weaker man
You can take me down
With just one single blow
But you don't know what you don't know
Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?
You, with your switching sides
And your wildfire lies and your humiliation
You have pointed out my flaws again
As if I don't already see them
I walk with my head down,
Try to block you out 'cause I never impress you
I just want to feel okay again
I bet you got pushed around
Somebody made you cold but the cycle ends right now
'Cause you can't lead me down that road
And you don't know what you don't know
Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?
And I can see you years from now in a bar
Talking over a football game
With that same big loud opinion
But nobody's listening, washed up and ranting
About the same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing
But all you are is mean
All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic
And alone in life and mean, and mean, and mean, and mean
But someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Yeah someday I'll be big enough
So you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so (mean)

This song makes me root for Taylor like no other song can. She wrote this about a real person and event, and now look at her. She is living the dream! She made it to those big ol’ cities. She just broke a world record for most attended concert by a female artist on her first night of her Eras tour. It’s crazy how you can be so proud of someone you’ve never met, but I am.
Couldn’t explain it better
I’m no hater. I love taylor since 9.
But the TV of mean is kinda lost its feelings. I know. I totally understand that she doesn’t have the same feeling as when she record the stolen version. She showed them that she made it and those people are doing what? 🤣🤣 But as someone who still strugle with the situtation. The stolen version kinda give more vibe of cheering than the TS. Her voice is incredible but I’m gonna miss the feeling old mean gave also her pitching teenage voice she had 😢

"You have pointed out my flaws again, as if i don't already see them" This line are for all those people who likes to remind us everyday with our insecurities as if we have no idea about it and make us question and compare ourself to others. The message about Mean is
Don't let anyone decieve your traits it's not about being popular and things like that or what people in high school say that is false.

Dedicated to all those who has suffered from bullying. Thankyou, Taylor for making this song. Some people don't know how serious bullying actually is and Taylor is one of them caring legit singers who actually understands, unlike most rappers you get these days.
your totaly right
What does rapping have to do with this? lol
