Do Not Buy a Segway GT1!!!

  • Brand new Segway GT1 I went 11 miles in race mode most of the way and ended my trip with only 10% battery charge left. That means there is no way I would have gone more than 12 or 13 miles to 0 and you do not want to run any battery to zero.
This is shameful, total rip off of what I paid for this.
I emailed customer service over a week ago and no response.
If someone had made a video like this for me I would not have bought it.
Do yourself a favor and buy something else. Segway GT1 is trash and I doubt it even does 25% of it’s advertised range given that I live in Florida with no hills.
Am I mad? Yes. This scooter feels like a scam. No customer service, ridiculous.

    Segway Claimed Range
    20 kmh is 12.4 mph = 70 kilometers is 43.4 mile
    40 kmh is 24.8 mph = 50 kilometers is 31 mile
    60 kmh is 37.2 mph = 28.6 kilometers is 17.8 mile

Glad to know Thanks for your Video. 11 miles ain't even half. Just a Quarter of the expected range. I would expect at the very least 30. All that money for a few miles of riding time. No chance I want it. Worth maybe 500 to me and I would still have to think about it.

I hope segway makes it right for you. I just got my segway P 65 which is a grade below what you but I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet. It’s beautiful, all charged but bad weather here in New York so I can’t ride it yet. I also have the ninebot max and I was completely happy with it. I put over 2500 miles on it with very little maintenance. It still works fine but I have a flat in the rear tire… It’ll be my spare. Me too, I have a G30P and I like that but they have a design flaw on that too that causes the wires to pinch and put an error 14 message. Luckily that’s a fairly simple fix but it’s ridiculous that I’d have to take the scooter display apart to fix something that is a major design flaw Segway could easily fix themselves. I’m definitely not buying another Segway again

Yes, just get a G30, it's way more proven and just works. These new ones can't even maintain the top speed for more than about 10% of the battery then they start trailing off to slower speed. The Segway GT 2 has more battery power, maybe this model has arrived with a defective battery or you weigh a lot or the place where you live has a lot of hills, is that true? Well, be honest, my friend, because Segway is a good brand, it's not a bad brand, it's even better than many other brands, speaking of quality, but the battery depends on several factors. Perhaps you haven't looked carefully before buying this model? you could have chosen the Segway GT 2 which is a bit more expensive but has a bit more battery! Dualtron never fails but it is more abrupt, you have many more options, some have to put a steering damper but for Segway this is not necessary! I hope you talk to them and Segway helps you with a quick solution. A hug and stay safe 🛴💞😍👏🏽

So the advertised range of 70km which is 44 miles, can only be attained going 20 kmh which is 12.4 mph
Segway GT1 in Eco Mode is 30 kmh, which is 18.6 miles per hour literally 50% faster than the speed required to get the advertised range.

That battery is starting to show signs of wearing down, but still runs great. Segway has a return policy, return it. It's a hassle, but should resolve your issue with the unit. Now that they lowered prices either get a P100S or a GT2.
When I bought the GT1 the going rate was $3000 which is a rip off for what it is, and it doesn’t get the advertised range.
With the GT2 you’ll comfortably get around 30 miles range out of it, maybe less
There’s other good brands out there but I think if you can snag a GT2 for under $2500 that’s a pretty decent value.
I personally don’t have experience with other scooters so I can’t advise on anything else. Sorry.

I did a lot of research on this scooter, Electruc Scooter Guide and others claimed this scooter can go around 22-23 miles at top speed. Which is around half the max range.
      If I got the 22-23 miles I wouldn’t care.
Also this thing has a massive drop in power after about 3-4 miles of riding. The torque gets cut probably in half based off the total power output and the max speed goes down to about 30 mph.
This scoot is designed to go 37 mph and they claim a range of over 40 miles. There’s no reason I should only be getting a quarter of that in Florida where it’s flat and I weigh about 160. Well within the weight they test the range at.
For comparison the $130 C8 I bought for my 4 yr old claims it can go close to 11 miles lol.
