Is the power bar sending 120v or 240v to your rigs? If the power bar is splitting the leads and sending 120v, there won't be a change in efficiency. Appliances that run on 240v in North America would be more efficient than appliances that run on 120v. If your power supplies are taking in 240v, it theoretically should be more efficient. The efficiency that most people talk about though is for resistive loads, like baseboard heaters.
the updated meter nice I still got the old version.
SPACE GOATS U ROCK BRO. Glad he took my advice on his channel and big red u really helped him get up there. GOOD JOB BOTH OF YOU, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
whats the name of the breaker needed to connect this
That display is awesome. The only two things I would change would be put a plug on the soj cable to put in a outlet... And put a on off switch on the meters light to keep from burning it out. Good show bro, looking forward to seeing 3000 series replace that!!
Would love the ability to purchase the meter kits. C’mon Man !!!
Same lol
@@ExplicitProphet Me too !
There doesn't seem to be any video cards available, anywhere? Is that what everyone else is seeing. Tried to buy some more 5600 XT's and 5700 XT's, and there is nothing anywhere from any seller.
I have all part for my mining for 8 GPU setup of RTX 3090 and 3080. Las thing I needed is PSU and can't figure out which I needed as 1200 watt or 100?
@Red Panda Mining how did you get the adapter that the power meter gauge go inside there where it's up on the wall that you can monitor the power/wattage/etc?
Ok I think I legit wanna make myself one of those power meters. Super awesome!
How do you handle surge protection?
hello, I've just looked at the unit you are using monitor watts. it only hooks to 1 leg. that being said, if you set up a 240 volt set up its using 2 hots or legs to make the 240 volt. the CT or THING that reads your watts and puts it on the screen, only reads one leg which in short means this...... if you set up a 240 volt system and break it down to, two equal 30 amp 120 volt legs for normal receptacles its only ready that 1 leg. not the other. So if you have a unbalanced load it will show only what on that hot or leg. ie. having a 6 card rig on 1 plug and a 3 card rig on another. If you keep it strictly 240 volt it will be correct.
I have the exact same digital monitoring meter. You can get it for real cheap on Amazon. The PF meter on the bottom right is nice too, because it tells you the efficiency of your equipment. So mine tends to stay at 0.99 because I use Platinum power supplies, but when you start your system you'll see that number fluctuation based on the wattage drawn.
how much in usd are you making per day? assuming everything is already roi'd
I watched your videos. I would like to start mining now, it would be for the first time, I would need advice. what do you recommend I start with? I don't have such a big budge, like you
What type of PDU do you use here ?
Are you going to do a video on the 30A circuit breaker install and what breaker that is? I'm looking to doing the same thing to unleash bigger power. What you're doing will solve my mining rig situation.
Where can i buy the case for the meter/ plug
Red Panda Mining
In New Zealand 240V is the standard. 480V three phase is industry/commercial level
@redpandamining - so explain - are you runnig the PSU at @ 240v or 120v??
if 240v did it cause any damage to psu? I am not sure they are made for 240v... Probably 220v European standard.
check the manufacturer box, you will se that they support multi voltage !
Does Space Goats build these in 20 Amp?!??! I need one and will purchase one for sure!!! 🤞🏻
I think the wiring concept should be the same, whether 20A or 30A.
@@TeaspoonMiner Yea it is Its just a different outlet
Where can i get the casing that you used?
36K subs, congratz RP, coz yo YT channa iz growin` fasta than da bitcone pryz ;-)
Lmao
Thanks man
The small difference in power from 120V to 240V could be an efficiency improvement on the power supply, but it also could be different calibration on the meters. If you use different meters to do the test you introduce an unknown error factor to the test. I understand that the kill-a-watt only works on 120V and the spacegoats meter only works on 240V but there are other ways to measure with the same instrument/meter on both scenarios to get a definitive answer... Great video as always RPM
Very nice man!! I'm from Brazil and im' creating my mining garage too!! Here we almoust dont' have this kinda things, nobody here works with mining. Thanks and congrats!!
Can you please make a video for people like me who need to figure out everything from the hardware to the wallet. I trust that you have great advice. Thanks
Looking at the Navi cards in this video makes me so missed them! Navi, please come back!!
@Chancoin u sold too soon 🤣
...Its time for you to start wearing a NASA jumpsuit!!!!
my minig rig have both 3x RX 580 4gb and 3x RX 470 on HIVEOS and iam using lolMiner with --keepfree 5 parameter in miner configuration why iam getting only 9 to 15 hash per cards ?
note: all my cards on stock bios and i tried --keepfree parameter from 5 to 0 but still same
appriciate any help plz
Okay, I gotta say. Love the screw driver turn on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 thats something I have never seen before lol
lol noob!
@@dex2531 that I am! Still learning lol! The setup im working on i actually put a power button attached to the wire racking lol
I need to get my rigs back up and running. I could use the heat they produce in the winter
Why don't you put some solar power to reduce the consumption?
Where can we get those Power monitors for the 240 that you installed? AKA I want a space goats meter!
Would love to buy some of those monitors from space goats!
panda, any in depth lesson on how to setup mining software
How hot gets u garage nice video thanks
Haha second! I'm always thrilled to see new Red Panda Mining videos :D
I built a 3rd miner and need to get my hands onto 5 RTX 3080 and 1 3080 TI but no one has them for MSRP.
Ya check the actual usage against your bill. See if any hidden fees. In my area you get hit with “green initiatives” if you go over a certain kWh of usage. On top of the power tiers where cost per kWh goes up. Time of day too.
so funny to see you excited about 240v !! in UK thats what we have everywhere
hey bro,ur videos r really help full,i am looking forard to setting up my own gpu rig soon, with 5 - 5700 XT. can u please tell me how long can i use them for mining like 2 yeard 5 yesrs?? when will the profitablility go away,electric-0. 16 usd/KWh
@Red Panda Mining will do
nice info btw and i will be getting into mining very soon, thank you
This meter is sick ...awsome..
I would buy that 30amp meter if he was selling them. I watched his video on how he makes them. But it would be nice to just buy it made since he 3D printed that plate I think
Damn that is a nice meter
Does your laptop have a 300Hz display!?
Haha yes... waste of money
sickk power meter :)
How about the file so we can print our own??
Only 10 month different and now u have a massive gpu farm! That is crazy
Hi, ‘Cleverer than me’ people. Given the prices and ability of new gen GPUs are silly, I’m looking at buying a heap of Radeon VII or RX5700XT - or possibly even RX480 / RX580s.
Is there are clear ‘go to’ here? Radeon VII always seem to have an awesome hashrate, but with them being so much older I worry about performance per watt. The 5700XT seems to be a bit more ‘future proofed’ while not much more expensive - meanwhile do ‘enough’ dirt-cheap RX480/580 (differences?) ever add up to better value? Again, I doubt performance per watt in cards this old.
Lastly I’m in the land of pricey electricity - Australia. But 3000w of solar from China only costs $1000ish. So I could use this daytime and off peak overnight.
Nvidia cards measure their power via shunt resistors on the PCI-E slot and each of the 6/8 pin power plugs, so nvidia actually measures total card power draw. AMD (at least for Vega and older not sure about Navi) only measures power across the GPU die itself, so doesn't count the memory, fans etc which is why you can't trust software numbers for AMD
I made my own meter like that, just had to watch the video from SpaceGoats where he shows the internal wiring. Just used a premade case instead of the 3D printed one. FA !!!!
Hi @redpandamining you can also buy pdu extension for 10$ cad on ebay I have 3 its the best thing 16amps capacity and long wire
SPACEGOATS product is awesome.
3rd! Lol. Love the notifications!
SPACEGOATS PLEASE SELL THESE
As voltage increases, amperage will lower, but, watts won't change.
Different power supplys and anything uses electricity will be more or less effecient at different volts and amps. It always goes down to 12 volts into the card but some setups can get to 12v better. It's like how PSUs have ratings like gold or bronze depending on how effecient they are.
Straight up ohms law. If you use 240v, amperage usage cuts in half. Watts are watts. They will remain the same.
Im waitingnfor basement 30amp upgrade
Those are very inaccurate. You're within margin of error (1% plus or minus) so there's very little change from 120v (for one rig). You might be able to see a difference with more rigs.
Isn't this like $5 savings / year?
No longer for sale. :(
You are not gaining anything by switching to 240V, it's not woooow mate
Im gaining a crap ton lol... density of power plugs, less power outlets at the wall, and efficiency.
@@RedPandaMining after 2 minutes you have no real results, so 24 hrs test and check what was the total power used in watts, then you will be able to say something close to reality
@@fullrespect69 go 5 minutes in.
blah i cant find gpus fer sale, 240v nice now u are big pp
Stupid question but why you guys in North America are using 120V while most countries all around the world are using 240V?
This popped up on my feed 17min ago and I thought, here we go.... more electrics...
ok, I'm 4th
Not sure if it is good using all your mining rigs on one electrical socket...
if the cables and plugs are good enough, than it is ok and safe
@@lokmanlee4708
I am talking about the socket itself- I think that sockets that are made for residential use shouldn't go above a certain number of watts
@@kfiramar9967 it’s all about the voltage, man. When you’re running 240v instead of 120v, you double the available safe wattage you can use on that circuit breaker and outlet. If you had a 15 Amp circuit, at 120v that would provide a total of 1800W (15A x 120v). At 80% safe rule; that’s 1,440W that you can safely pull through a 15A circuit.
Now say you have a 15A circuit but on 240v instead of 120v. You just doubled the wattage. So a 15A circuit on 240v would provide 3,600w of power... 2,880w at the 80% rule.
RedPanda had a 30A breaker AND 240v. So 30A x 240v = 7,200W of total power. And at the 80% safe load rule- 5,760 watts of usable safe power on that one outlet. So he’s fine. 😊
@@TeaspoonMiner
that was detailed :)
@@kfiramar9967 😁
Wish we all had the 400V system they have in europe. Actually we should have 400V all around world and skip these low efficiency alternatives. Would be cost effective for productivity to just have one system to manufacturing hardware and components.
