I can't believe how well the directors and DPs managed to keep reinventing their visual style throughout the show. It's a masterclass in dynamic camera movement and lighting.
So true! I can only imagine the amount of preparation it took with the storyboards as well as the blocking when they were actually filming. Clearly it all paid off, because Euphoria is probably the most stunning show on television right now.
The funny thing is that I used to always shoot stuff with a similar style in a film class I took but my prof always said it was to much movement and and took away from the story. I used to think bitch this is film class not theatre but then this comes out and I feel validated.
I have a similar professor in college right now. He is obsessed with gatekeeping his version of what cinema is and refuses to modernize his beliefs. I mean come on, you said it best this is FILM not theatre. The best filmmakers are the ones who use the visuals to further amplify the storytelling, not just get you from point A to B as easy as possible. I’m so glad the younger generation are pushing boundaries in ways that older filmmakers are afraid to.
I hate teachers who are like that, I think they need to understand that there isnt only one way to do things. Its shitty to suppress people's creative ability and make a standard to what you think is art especially in the form of film.
@J B Okay but multiple times the camera work is done to replicate the character's mental states and over all vibe of the show. Not Every shot has to be meaningful either. I don't understand the implication that Euphoria is style over substance, there is still a lot of story to unpack it just looks cool on top of it.
ok but euphoria is THAT SHOW. it has a point on literally everything, soundtrack, cynematography, script and storyline and the performances OMFG everyone had at least a scene that leave's you on shock, even the ones like Jacob Elordi who everyone has a bad image on him because of the kissing booth but he has one of the best performances in the whole show, the fight scene with his dad left me crying for at least 5 minutes, just hit me so hard it is so raw, so in conclusion y'all better stop watching tv garbage and stan euphoria but most importantly stream all for us.
Come to think of it, it’s so rare for a show with this massive of a cast to allow space for every single main actor a scene in which they showcase every ounce of their potential.
The actor that played Nate had to go like... go to the hospital after that scene. He wasn't punching his head lightly. That is the level of commitment he had to the role... He just let all of the character's rage come out. Yeah, that's one of the most shocking scenes in the whole show. Disturbing and emotional in equal measure. Also, you're right, this series has it all from a technical standpoint, and excels at everything, but the things about the acting is that most of the actors that play teenagers are mostly newcomers (maybe had a few works before the series). And that just blows my mind. They're all incredible.
Some people say that Euphoria isn’t good because it is unrealistic to what teenagers go through. I disagree, I think it showcases a heightened sense of reality while still being able to stay grounded, and the cinematography conveys that perfectly! Amazing video as always!
Adam Taucher I also think that it depends on whatever experience you went through in high school bc I definitely didn’t do anything like what they did in hs, but I think it’s realistic where some people have definitely experienced what certain characters have been through before
Jenna Akemi Agreed. I can say for certain that I experienced a fair bit of what these characters went through, sure, not to this full extent but I know what it’s like. I also think it says a lot that I can identify people I knew in high school with these characters. I knew a Rue, I knew a Jules, I knew a Nate and Cassie.
To me it feels like it’s not trying to portray the average teenager, but trying to show the dark underbelly of the generation; what many teenagers go through yet feel alone in.
Euphoria is on HBO because of the quality of the show, & the budget it needed to be as perfect as it was. I feel as though Netflix does have successful shows & only some of them are actually GOOD QUALITY content, some half ass teen BS that kids will eat up. Whereas HBO mostly has great quality content, even the content that’s targeting a younger audience. & euphoria is just *chef’s kiss*
a n i y a h _ but the quality of the show wouldn’t be as good as if it just stayed on hbo, and I mean hbo is now being known a lot because of euphoria so more people are getting it, there production has actually increased significantly because of euphoria
the soundtrack is unbelievable. one of the best soundtracks EVER made in film and movie. the bed scene with Rue and Jules and it flips through their memories of one another and i just- FANTASTIC!!! the transition from young Nate to current Nate, i just, i NEVER have loved any form of media this much! Absolute genius. casting SUPERBURB! Zendaya, Jules, Maddie, Kat, Cassidy, Nate, Mckay! AHHHHHHH! can’t wait for season 2!
I also love that music in euphoria has a bigger role than in other shows, music is one of the easiest mediums to underline and to add emotion. On top of that if it’s such a good soundtrack like euphoria's, you will listen to it in free time and always associate it with the show.
You act like this show is the first and only show that captures raw emotions and situations , you really need to watch shameless and Ozark and breaking bad, and up your TV game 💀💀
@@iknowexactlywhoyouare8701 first of all i have watched those shows? Nice making some random ass assumptions. I think euphoria fits my taste better. Anyways
HBO really took their time with euphoria, as what they do with all their shows. The production, cinematography, colors, casting was everything in this show. Simply amazing
im so in love w this show and the aesthetics. loving the soundtrack, the makeup was amazing, the clothes that were actually on trend, and looooved the coloring and the camera movements, i feel like this is how we trynna live the moment, how we always try to find the aesthetics in the places and the time we are, i mean the whole shows TRANSMIT FEELINGS and that is soooo powerful
Exactly. The show is relentlessly modern, but also timeless in that it portrays subject matter and issues that young people have been going through for a long time now and will continue to go through.
@@adam-ll1yf that´s what i think too! i mean they´re a lot of shows with the same purpose but i believe that its not just recording and putting good music in the background, is so much more than that, making a show with not only realistic young issues but with also good lighting and a great perspective. i was thinking of skins, it´s also such a good show, but in my opinion, euphoria make me a lot more enthusiastic because of the perspective of different cinematographic elements they put in. its just different, but they both are great!!
Yesterday i Saw euphoria for the first time. And when i saw the scene Where rue walks on the walls. I knew it would be great, because I think it’s not about depicting a standard high schoolers trials and tribulations, but it is about truthfully showing the emotions all the characters feel. So I think the show is based in emotions. Because the music, the makeup, the lighting, everything builds on that. And. I really love rues makeup. Because it’s very subtle in a way but it shows exactly how she feels on the inside. And I think that’s beautiful
The show really got me hard the first time I watched it. Now I've watched it four or more times coz it's amazing how it was filmed, the acting, how real it looks, the colours and the make up.
Euphoria talks about the deeper things that go on in teenager's life, unlike On My Block and any other teenager show Euphoria has covered more reality then any other. Every episode made me want to cry and I can't tell you how many people I know relate to these characters as much as I do myself. Such a well written show.
This is the best show out there. Fight me. Astonishing cinematography, great writing. Amazing characters. Great story. Perfect feel and never boring. Amazing.
Euphoria is that thing that you want to keep all to yourself because you're afraid other people could never truly appreciate it but at the same time, you want other people to see because it's so good. Or maybe that's just me.
This series has better cinematography than most films of 2019. Everybody should watch it. Also i hope you will do Mandy or BTBR someday. Panos Cosmatos is one of the best visual filmmakers.
unlike riverdale this show actually shows how teenagers act in real life, the cast, camera movements, the songs LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW IS AMAZING
I’m so shocked that a lot of teenagers are actually going through that nowadays. That’s scary. I thought it wasn’t realist at all before I read all the comments and reviews about the serie.
I feel like this is such an accurate representation of my generation. I think that’s why I feel so deeply about the show, especially with the scenes of rue and her mom arguing, a lot of things in this show made me cry and I feel like I relate to all the characters in a way
even though the show set off in a completely different and distorted direction in the second season , I will always stand by the fact that the first season of Euphoria is one of the most stupendously well written and well produced slices of TV. The characters, the intertwined story lines, the absolute whiplash of a subversion with Rue's unreliable narration and character arc, the visually gratifying and meticulous cinematography, and the excellent music choice everything came together to make Euphoria truly stand out.
The cinematography in this show is by far the best thing about it. The colors, lighting, framing, motion, practicality, and emotion is nothing but spectacular.
imo regardless of what shows you watch and are into euphoria is perfection. the cinematography is immaculate, the mise en scene, the acting, the simplicity yet complex angles gives me life, the colour scheme throughout season 1 was gorgeous alongside the music it just made the scene come to life and made you feel something and even if you don’t care about that the complexity and depth and development of the characters is so amazing like the snippet of the characters at the beginning of each episode just gives you context but the way they are throughout each episode just shows you who they are and it’s just amazing. euphoria is perfection
Yes it really does I know a lot of people say the writing in unrealistic but this is exactly how my highschool life is right now tbh and it may have been unrealistic then but after euphoria came out everyone started acting this way 😂
This is the most artistic series ever. The quality is similar to a hip hop video and it's impressive. Every frame, every cut, every moment and acting is complete awe. It's just obsessed.
my favorite scene is from the carnival episode, when rue was looking for her sister. when the firework was going off, in the background while rue was looking for gia, i loved how the camera followed rues head so that firework would be dirrectly behind her. i like to think that they did that on purpose, indicating that at that moment she was scared and worried and the firework represented her emotions going off inside of her, but in the show it was shown like she was shooting fireworks thats my favorite scene bc i relate to that what i think was going on. im always worried and scared of what might happen to my brother and sister if they're late or when i cant find them, i feel like i would explode
This show is just a masterpiece. They have the best aesthetic and soundtrack I've ever seen or heard in a show. The cast is also just incredible. The show is very raw and realistic. This video is also amazing I love the clips you put together.
The story and the acting is amazing enough. But I just can’t imagine how brilliant the art direction. This entire show, every second of it, it’s visually pleasing. It’s cinematic, it’s more than just a tv series or a movie. It’s literally piece of art.
Everything about the cinematography, the editing, and the overall directing is just so perfect. It almost embodies the way Gen Z looks at themselves in the age of social media, where everything on the surface just has this flare to it.
I'm living in Sweden and it's very dark around here right now. When I see the opener of the video, it reminds me of the beauty of spring / early summer nights....
we’re gonna need another one of these. season 2 came with so many more beautiful scenes but with such a different feeling. season 1 felt like a beautifully euphoric daze. season 2 feels like a hauntingly flickering memory
One of the reasons why this show is literally the best is because of the art style and how the camera moves along with the characters and comes out of random places, also the songs... ARE BOMB
Even the camera angles would've been enough for me to check out the show but the music, color theme and the cinematography look so damn good OMG😭 Gotta watch it soon.
This show is a masterpiece. The cinematography, the music, the acting it's all perfect and the storyline is very relatable to many people its a show about teenagers that is actually realistic and I feel that one of the many reasons it is so amazing
I am avoiding this series cuz i thought "oh i don't wanna watch problematic series" and then when i got bored i decided to watch euphoria, best decision I've made in my entire life
just finished watching euphoria a bit late though but still this is the realest teen drama ever...ik i will be in "euphoria hangover" for next few weeks now..cant stop obsessing!
I remember when this came out how I was going through exactly what Maddie was, betrayal of a friend and I remember feeling how rue felt with addiction. This show really spoke to my 17 year old self and it’ll always have a place in my heart, this was really a euphoric experience for me

One of my personal favorite shots was the giant one-take through the carnival. Unbelievable, that one.
The story and the acting is amazing enough. But I just can’t imagine how brilliant the art direction. This entire show, every second of it, it’s visually pleasing. It’s cinematic, it’s more than just a tv series or a movie. It’s literally piece of art.
This vid deserves to be 10 mins long it’s so beautiful
Euphoria is such a beautiful shot show.
Everything about the cinematography, the editing, and the overall directing is just so perfect. It almost embodies the way Gen Z looks at themselves in the age of social media, where everything on the surface just has this flare to it.
This is by far my favorite show EVER. Like the script, cinematography, art, edition and THE SOUNDTRACK! Honestly a real masterpiece
There's sth about this first song! Simply incredible
My heart starting beating faster the moment the music started. I knew this was gonna be absolutely breathtaking.
I'm living in Sweden and it's very dark around here right now. When I see the opener of the video, it reminds me of the beauty of spring / early summer nights....
The camera work in this show is breathtaking
One on the most beautiful series I ever seen
the vibes in this show are ✨beautiful ✨
I think that this show is true ART !! not only the cinematographic is good but the music is lit !!!
Netflix can never manage to make a quality show like this.
we’re gonna need another one of these. season 2 came with so many more beautiful scenes but with such a different feeling. season 1 felt like a beautifully euphoric daze. season 2 feels like a hauntingly flickering memory
I recommended this a little bit ago. This show is so beautifully shot and colored.
im literally obsessed w this show cant wait for the second season
The colors, the visuals, the soundtrack, the makeup, the beautiful/talented cast, the aesthetics... this show really takes me places, it’s magical.
The bicycle shot with Jules at the front is one of my favorite shots in this show
One of the reasons why this show is literally the best is because of the art style and how the camera moves along with the characters and comes out of random places, also the songs... ARE BOMB
for some reason this shot (4:05) was the one that blew me away the most.
The director of the photography deserve all the oscars in the world
I love this show with all my heart, pure art
My favorite show of 2019 ❤
i cant stop watching. this is absolutely beautiful.
I love this show so much. The aesthetics, movement of the camera, cast, soundtrack, etc is amazing
This is the best serie I've ever seen
You just made me watch the series all over again
legendary.
Labrinth is a musical genius
I am avoiding this series cuz i thought "oh i don't wanna watch problematic series" and then when i got bored i decided to watch euphoria, best decision I've made in my entire life
now I wanna watch it for the billionth time
just finished watching euphoria a bit late though but still this is the realest teen drama ever...ik i will be in "euphoria hangover" for next few weeks now..cant stop obsessing!
The cinematography reminds me of those big budget music videos.
The shots and music made these amazing. ♥️
These shots are just beautiful asf
This show is ART
I remember when this came out how I was going through exactly what Maddie was, betrayal of a friend and I remember feeling how rue felt with addiction. This show really spoke to my 17 year old self and it’ll always have a place in my heart, this was really a euphoric experience for me
