Trolleybuses provided a wonderfully quiet , smooth and elegant form of transport. I was reunited with this form of transport on a recent trip to Budapest.
I'm from Tilehurst, Reading. Moved out when I was 9. I remember riding on on a Reading Corporation trollybus around 67 when I was 6. Recall it breaking down and waiting a long time for the bus to restart in Oxford Road. My hometown still has a special place in my heart. Video brings back so many good memories. Thanks.
I remember the fuss around the last trolley bus along the Oxford road in about 1968. There are still trolley bus poles in Kent wood hill bearing street lights.
How in the World have we gone BACKWARDS? An electric clean / environmental Trolley bus operating almost 60 years ago in a town centre. We need to take a long hard look at our so called Modern selves (actually backwards thinking).

My home town. I took the #17 from TiIehurst to Reading with my Dad on weekends.
Exactly the same here - except it was with my mum and it was a Leyland Olympian, then Titan, then a Scania.
