If you watch this video you are probably a very big fan of Scorsese because there are not many people who know about the existence of this film

This is one of my favorite Scorsese films. Too many people talk down about it, calling it sophomoric or saying it's a good first film, but shows that Scorsese was capable of making better films in the future. It may lack the violence and action and spectacle of some of his more well-known films, but it is a great film in its own right. One of Scorsese's key themes all throughout his work is internal conflict, something you see in films such as Taxi Driver and The Last Temptation of Christ, this struggle for a person to reconcile all the different parts of himself or to understand and unmask a part of himself that he doesn't want to be there. You see the root of all these characters in J.R., and Keitel's performance is stripped down and genuine, seeming like a real guy who believes one way, but lives another, never questioning the apparent discrepancy and blind to his own faults. He is a frustrating person, but a compelling one nonetheless, and the drama involving him and his girlfriend is driven by true conflict, an inability to connect with another person due to that internal obliviousness. Not to criticize any of his other films, but I wish Scorsese would make more straight dramas like this because this film (and many others) demonstrates his talent for telling simple stories about complex characters.

I think guys like Jack Nicholson, Robert de Niro, al pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Harvey's Keitel, Malcom McDowell, Jeff Bridges, Jon Voight, Gene Hackman these guys were ahead of their time they really change cinema at the peak of the golden era of Hollywood they were brillient method actors that really studied their asses off when comes their work and how there credibility that they put in their performances during that time. The 60s and mostly the 70s was the era great of blockbusters films

Bro, how could you forget the father of method acting, Marlon Brando? Nobody you listed is a "method actor". Christian Bale and Daniel Day Lewis are method actors, in the vein of Brando. Everyone you just listed are really good actors, the best Hollywood's seen to this day.

Not an incel. He's a catholic misogynist who thinks of women as things. He's basically the prototype of the man of the 50s and 60s, the kind of person Scorsese criticizes. He's a criminal but he isn't ashamed because of the background he grew up. In his culture a good woman is the kind of woman who arrives virgin at the wedding (that's why in the first half of the movie he refuses to make love to the girl) but for the man, the more he fucked the more he is great. That paradox still exists in many cultures, especially catholic or conservative ones. It's sad to think this movie is still relevant today.
