    that is super fun! loved the quick overview video, yet it still had enough detail so we could try to recreate it. would love to see a future update on how you've used it in the field, tips and tricks. also made me try to imagine one with an arduino or something, so you could program a shot sequence into it...

    Great idea! I've been thinking about something like this but never got around to doing it. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Excellent work, Luke! Honestly, I've had that idea fermenting between my ears for years now, but have never made it happen. First thought, both my initial motivation and note to share, is that this will be completely legal to use in any national park, where drones are NOT permitted for many respectable reasons. Next step is to explore software as well as cable type to best eliminate the distracting line in the footage. I recommend fishing lines, but not aware of best software. Lastly, make it waterproof to route that zipline through a pretty waterfall! Bravo, dude!

    What we need now is a remote control and stops at the ends.

    I still wonder why your cideos are so unfmderrated with limited views 🤔 maybe an event or an appearence you need to jump on the level you deserve.

    Perfect, maybe it would be better to put some bearings on the orange pulleys.

    Have you thought about using a receiver and motor controller for an RC car? Then you can fully control the movement of the cable cam remotely...

    MAN! I want one, I will be hiking the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail, and this would be awesome to film some of the river crossing and climbs.
    Would you be will to build/sell me one ?

    • @LukeEdwin
      @LukeEdwin  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's so cool! this would be perfect for that. I'm currently working on outsourcing the 3D printing so that I can make the parts available for sale. you'll still have to buy the electrical component and assemble it yourself, but assembly is super easy. Not sure when I'll have it ready, but stay tuned. all post about it on my TH-cam community tab if I get it going

    What cord did you use? I did one of these with R/C servos a few years back and finding cord that didnt stretch, was available in long lengths and wasn't ruinously expensive was the hard part.

    Nice.. as long as you don't look at the corners of the image.
    Will it hold something more substantial?

    • @LukeEdwin
      @LukeEdwin  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes it will, I've used it with both the Insta360 X4 and even my canon R8. FYI I'm using it with the slow 16RPM motor that is linked in the description. I'm not sure what the faster motor will be capable of, but I have one in the mail that I'll be trying out soon.

  • @jaybo2099

    How long do you think that battery will last if you leave the motor running continuously? I'll probably build this rig, but I can see other uses for that little motor and battery setup.

    • @LukeEdwin
      @LukeEdwin  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven’t timed it, but if I was to take a guess, I would say it can run for maybe between an hour and two hours

    That thing you 3d printed is not a zip line. Its a trolley. And the entire set up inclluding the "line" is called a Cable Cam.
    Excellent project, fun results!
