- This clip is from the movie 'The Wind and the Lion' (1975), a movie inspired by the Perdicaris incident (1904). Although president Roosevelt dispatched seven warships and several Marine companies to Tangier to convince the Sultan to accede to Raisuni's demands, the Us Marines never raided the Pasha's castle like portrayed in the movie.
The Wind and The Lion, MGM 1974, starring Sean Connery, Candace Bergen, and Brian Keith as Teddy Roosevelt. One of my personal all time favorites. Loosely based on actual events.
I'm an AMERICAN and I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE.
They even brought their own music 🤣
If it were Germans they would be singing…
When we didn't give a shit and kicked ass.
You know this is fiction, right?
@@charlesbaer9971 From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli.............
@@joerivas9847 this movie is about neither of those places

You are not very bright are you
@ bless your heart.
Honestly, I thought the marines were on routine exercises...or drills. But to go all the way from the port drumming till they arrived at Pasha's castle in Tangier baffled me.🤣
Such a badass scene!
Tha Marines always look good for any occasion
Always loved this movie on tv
Given it was a contingent of Marines and Sailors from the Atlantic fleet, there would have been a band of Navy and Marine musicians accompanying the landing force. Loosely based on historic events, it makes for dramatic cinema.
They Steamrolled those Poor Bastards.
Happy 249th birthday, US Marines, Semper Fidelis!
they left out some good parts. like the Germans taking an interest
Notice the Colt machine gun on the cart.
I guess they ditched the Gatling gun in favor of the Colt. Looks a lot less unwieldy than the massive Gatling.
Leave it to the Marines to bring a band to a battle lol
The Pasha's nonchalance at the whole thing.
Gunboat diplomacy. Rough, but it worked.
