Sometimes you change your lineup for a series to exploit a Mismatch.
Think back to the different lineups the Lakers used throughout that Bubble championship. Howard and Rondo were very important in them winning that championship but you have to realize Howard barely played in the finals but killed in the Denver series versus Jokic.

Even though I didn’t put Kobe among my top 10 favorites which had more to do for being a Laker than his game, I do miss that man every day. He was only a couple years older than me. He’s like my peer. He was a brother or classmate I never met or knew. I was a freshman when he was a senior. I’m older than Vanessa by 17 months. And I live in the OC like he did.
Kobe listened to Nirvana and so did I. We saw the same and enjoyed the same things growing up. He loved Star Wars, so did I. It’s always tough talking about him because I don’t like picturing his final moments. I’ve seen photos of Tupac’s autopsy. I’ve seen shots of JFK’s head blown off in that JFK movie in 1991. I’m very squeamish when I see stuff like that.
Every time I see a helicopter above me, I think of Kobe. They have a much higher fatality rate than private planes. Have you seen the video on TH-cam with a Brazilian bride dying from a helicopter crash? This was years before Kobe’s death. I’ve seen the video the moment right before Left Eye (from TLC) flipped her SUV before she died. I think of Aaliyah when she died in a plane crash when I think of Kobe. I think of Princess Diana and Paul Walker and how they died.
Kobe’s death reminds me of other people’s deaths and it always makes me sad thinking about them all. I think of the daughters who lost both their parents and sisters that day. It’s not just Kobe and Gigi who died that day. It sucks. It’s like you’re reliving the nightmare for the rest of your life when you think about it.
When Kobe died, I remember thinking why was he flying over Calabasas? Then I thought maybe it’s for Gigi since the Mamba Academy was around that area. A minute later, they announce on the radio that Gigi also died. My heart sank. Kobe died simply taking his daughter to her game. I effing hate thinking about it. I remember from 12 PM to 3 PM, it felt like 9 hours had passed. Time moved in slow motion that day for me. So depressing. Life is precious. Nothing is guaranteed. RIP Kobe and to the other 8 victims.
