Awesome video, hopefully that is more in depth video for this reel. Very interested in getting one. Hope that there will be more gear review in future. It's really helpful and useful for anglers
Nice review. What's strange is that the Shimano Stradic SW reel on Shimano's website is NOT listed under saltwater spinning reels but is listed in their spinning reels. I have a Spheros SW 6000, and it's sealed with Shimano's X-Shield. I do a lot of surf fishing in Southern California. I do go in and out of the water and at times will get hit with a wave and dunk my Spheros reel. My Spheros is still going strong after three years of surf fishing. I don't baby my reel and it's a tool for me but I do give it basic maintenance and pack critical areas with grease. I was very interested in this reel but I don't think it will last a year surf fishing with me without having X-Shield protection.
I feel it really depends on your personal fishing preference and picking the reel that fits your style of fishing. If you’re particular about comfort, picking the light weight vanford might be the better option. If you’re not as particular for comfort and would like a sturdier reel for rough usage, I would recommend the vanford. The type of fishing you plan to do will affect the decision as well, I personally feel the vanford is more suited for luring and micro/light jigging while the stradic is for heavier usage like normal jigging
Hi! Sorry for the late reply! In my opinion, XG is for a very niche form of fishing that requires speed cranking. Using it for bottom fishing might not be appropriate and might wear the XG gear out faster. So because this reel will be used for various purposes, I decided to go with HG!
@@jasonbourne6531 hey man just picked up the newest Stradic 5000 FL and already have the SW the FL came with the power knob and not plastic base I think they might have updated it since you have seen it ? I have used both now and don’t find a massive difference at all both work absolutely awesome
@@jasonbourne6531 you can definitely feel it’s an aluminium base on the newest FL but I think the SW is made more for Offshore fishing and the FL is made for inshore but honestly like I said there isn’t much difference at all both work great for offshore/inshore
Under 5000....stradic sw and fl were the same reel with a different paint and knob handle.....if you want to get sw...buy the sw 5000 + , they have a new feature which fl doesn't have (like infinity drive and x shield).... below that...don't buy it...take fl instead....they're exactly the same reel with a different paint and knob handle.....and a different price ofcourse...
Hey there, no they are not the same reel. Stradic SW is built for more heavy and gritty usage. The gears that are used are not micro-module gears compared to the FL (can be found on the website). To add on, the FL is smaller than the Sw because of Shimano’s compact tech. The FL C4000 is the size of a 3000 reel. Meanwhile, for the stradic SW, the 4000 size is around the same size as the Stradic FL 5000xg but it comes in more different variants like PG, HG. As you said, the stradic SW also has infinity drive and xshield and the FL doesn’t. So although both reels are called stradic, they are two different reels. They might share similar components but are distinctly built for different usage.
You can consider switching to lighter line, using a longer rod or using a heavier lure/sinker. When it comes to spinning setups most of the distance is normally dictated by these factors instead of your reel. I am not defending the stradic sw in any way too haha but if you were to compare a surfcasting reel like an aerocast to the stradic the surfcasting reel will definitely do better because of the size of the spool!

Thank you Rick!
For the bigger sizes like 5k and 6k would you say stradic sw or saragosa sw
2024 Stradic SW-B is coming out soon.
Will you be getting one and do a review?
Would like to know the differences
I have a question, the wire closes automatically or manually.
What rod is this bro

The only reel I would upgrade the spheros from would be the Twin Power SW, other then that the spheros is ipx8 rated. It’s a jack of all trades
The Stradic SW has x-shield
How often do you maintain/service?
Looks like a sweet rod as well. What kind of rod is that?
What test line do you put on it ?
would you recommend the newer vanford 4000xg compared to the stradic? thank you!

@@facepalmfishing alright thank you!
are the 4000, 5000 and 6000 all the same size?
What can you tell us about this reel now the you use it, because I’m trying to get the 5k XG ?
Hi
How this reel is working after long time. How heavy bait you can cast model 5000 PG ?
The reel still works fine for me :) I don’t own the 5000pg model so I can’t really comment
Works decently??? I have the 4000xg i use it all the time at the pier and bass fishing i just runse it and its never failed
Iam confused... in Australia they just offer the size from 5k to10k?
I am also in a same dilemma - can't find a Stradic SW 4000 in Australia.
Nice vid!
Thank you Cody!
Hi brother why you not chose 4000xg?

Will definitely be buying this new reel!
Thanks for watching :)
Awesome video!
Thanks Yong!

I'm bought Stella fj recently 😂
Good job!
Nice review...
Couldnt see any difference between the Stradic FL and the Stradic SW other than the power knob
Different by alot bro. FL use ci4 aka plastic body. SW use aluminum body. The body n spool size also different.
