Bloody great! We have a similar bike meet here in New Zealand called The Cold Kiwi. It’s in the beginning for September but only get a little snow now and then although it’s pretty cold by the mountain and has been running for 44 years which in NZ’s longest running bike gathering.
Thanks for the comment. Yes it's a really nice event, nobody is showing off, getting excessively drunk or being a nuisance, which I like. There are other rallies for that. And the sidecar riders have great fun tail sliding up and down the mountain roads. Makes me want one!!
Narrow Laning - I might be wrong but I think they can have a driven sidecar wheel on the continent but not with UK supplied rigs. Perhaps a sidecar enthusiast can enlighten me. Great vid, fantastic commitment to push on through.
Not 'average skills' from where I'm sitting, looks like you know exactly what you are doing to me, including the sub zero camping. You should tell your 'story' looks like your bike did very little until 2014 (ish) (unless you were out of the country!) Nice video! Watched your previous stuff....I think I'd book a room in 'The Hut'!! ...
Hi Paul, very observant, these years I have a young family so not much biking going on, been riding all my life so a couple of years more and priorities will be different. Also bust a gearbox so it stood around for a while waiting for repair. Had this bike for 20 years, so it is my bike for life. Learned loads from the Austians, this is such a nice event and they are the real experts on this terrain. Thanks for taking the time make an interesting comment 😀
Sorry, I wasn't trying to be nosey, I saw the BM was an 'F reg' I was intrigued by your custom made dash, and just wondered how many miles she had done seeing as you were doing rallies like this one. Completely understand how 'life' can get in the way of your riding. My Honda is 35 years old and only has 22K genuine miles on the clock, in 2016 she only had 15K ....yep, she's mine for 'keeps' too! Watching video's on here I decided I'd like to ride in the Pico's. I'd driven cars abroad when I was younger, but never toured on the bike, so, on a whim in 2018 with a 'low deposit' offer on the ferry, I booked it. I went again last year, and I'm booked for this July. My first 'taste' of BMW's was back in 1980 on the pillion of my bosses R90s (about 500 miles! Then 3 of us went to a dealership Open Day in Dorset. It was December and about -5'C overnight, but it was sunny next morning! We had our 'pick' of the bikes till about 2pm....as I'd not ridden anything bigger than a 100cc Yamaha 2 stroke till this point I took out the R65 ....had about 10 minutes on that and swopped it for a R100RT. The 'barn door' fairing caught me out a couple of times carrying too much corner speed... but a day to remember for sure.... sorry...I've gone on.... You'll not bump into me at one of your rallies...I can't stand the cold! I didn't even know they did tyre chains for bikes....I thought it was 'studs' ...like the Ice Speedway bikes....
