Seriously - the line "Too many angels are dying now" really hits hard - especially with all the stuff that has been going on in the industry in the last few years! The number of artists who have been releasing music about hate and toxic online bullying really drives home how dire the problem really is!
i thought it was about people who we thought were angels finally showing their true colours... no offence but i think ur looking too deep into it? not that ur wrong or anything just, not everything is about them and their deaths no hate intended
And I agree with what you've said, I felt that way too. The lyrics "Where is the love," got me thinking about the artist's being bullied. I haven't looked up the rest of the lyrics, but I remember "Too many angels dying now" and "Where is the love."
Is it just me or were y'all able to figure out the theory automatically when Yoohyeon shot herself? For me, this scene obviously portrays people hurting themselves because of hate.
My little annoyance, is evil Yoo shoots the arrow upwards, and then it shoots angel Yoo from the side, and doesn't show an arrow per se, so I didn't :(
@@onceuponagoat2316 That could be perceived as another aspect of this meaning: it's unclear to the person being struck what is actually striking them - Equally the person firing the arrow is firing blindly into the sky, so they don't entirely know what they're firing at. Even though these two people are one in the same, They both can't see that they are the ones causing themselves pain.
I'm dumb and thought the angel was Sua...so I was a bit confused but it's clearly about pain being inflicted in some way. Now that it's clear to me that it's Yoohyeon it definitely makes more sense.
Wow!!!! I loved your explanation and interpretation ❤️❤️❤️ Dreamcatcher is truly a great group and this message is SO powerful and wise, we all should learn from the girls and keep their lyrics close to our hearts and put them in the practice everyday. BookishTheories thank you so much for covering such a great group ❤️❤️❤️ You're amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Now, the lyrics "Where is the love" makes sense now. So I had that feeling when I watched the music video. That it is about words; evil words people or bullies say to others to harm them. That words with malice can hurt. The things I've been talking about with BTS as well :) It must be so difficult for them. I feel like it's a call for help from the bullies and hurtful words. The thing is Pandora was created to be used as a weapon. Pandora was, according to the myth, the first woman on Earth. She was created by Gods; each one of them gave her a gift, thus, her name in Greek means “the one who bears all gifts”. Her gifts were beautifully evil, according to Hesiod. Hephaestus created her from clay, shaping her perfectly, Aphrodite gave her femininity and Athena taught her crafts. Hermes was ordered by Zeus to teach her to be deceitful, stubborn, and curious. After Prometheus stole the fire from Olympus and brought it back to earth in a fennel stack, the angered Zeus decided to give humans something which would balance this new acquisition, “an evil thing for men as the price of fire.” It was a punishment for stealing the fire. Pandora was given a box or a jar, called “pithos” in Greek. Gods told her that the box contained special gifts from them but she was not allowed to open the box ever. One day, out of curiosity and not out of malice; Pandora lifted the lid off the jar, releasing all evils and diseases into the world. Shocked by what happened, she quickly tried to put the lid back, managing to only trap Hope inside it. That is why Hope is the last thing that dies in man: even though deceitful from time to time, it is the only consolation humans have for all the troubles Pandora let loose on the world. That explains the world in dystopia, void of love where the darkness unleased takes over. But all that's left is hope. I understood the contrast between light and darkness, the first moment I watched the music video. Thank you for explaining the lyrics in depth. Yes, nothing will change if you take a step back. And do "Words Matter." “Words cut deeper than knives. A knife can be pulled out, words are embedded into our souls.” (~ William Chapman- He's an author.)
Thank you for doing this so quickly. Now I can refer people to your video instead of trying to explain one reactor at a time. Most didn't notice that angel Yoohyeon was hit by the arrow fired by cyberpunk Yoohyeon. The message is timely especially for South Koreans who are very susceptible to internet shaming. Too many Kpop angels have died.
I honestly wrote this before I watched your analysis. It's been a while since got back into Dreamcatcher and I watched the mv. I wanted to say this before. (Maybe I have said this already). You know Dreamcatcher's concept of that violet crystal reminded me of the movie "Dark Crystal." That movie is about restoring the balance between two sides; the good and the bad. Restoring a shard of the dark crystal. It's like balancing a soul; the dark and the light. The "R.o.S.E Blue" mv reminded me of that, there's a violet crystal in the middle of a room. And the girls seem like they are fighting each other.
Thank you! A number of things in the video were so confusing to me. (It doesn't help that work has been hectic this week and the video doesn't have subs yet.) I thought the girl with the mask was "Masked Unnie" from Scream. I also didn't understand why Yoohyeon shot herself. I was actually quite lost watching the video. I'm glad I didn't have to wait too long for your analysis of this video. Thanks again! It all makes sense now. :D
Very good analysis of a song with an important message, thank you! There even is a little keyboard sound right in the beginning of the video (it's not in the song, just in the video).
Thank you so much for making these videos! Also Dreamcatcher is getting better and better and I just love to see them fighting for what they believe in through their music.
I know this comment is really late. It's just things I thought about while watching the mv. I love the music video, it was different from the ones they usually have. When I first saw the music video, the part with the bow and arrow reminded me of Eros or Cupid as he was later named. I know the word "Boca" means "mouth" in Spanish. It also means "pit" like an opening/trench/a hole in the ground. Now that I think about it, maybe like a grave since graves are spaces that are dug up in the ground. The mouth part also reminded me of the shell that Aphrodite was born in, from the "Birth of Venus" painting. Also the lyrics "I'm a geek. The big paradox..." stood out to me for some reason. I should really read the rest of the lyrics lol 😅 Their album cover design for "Dystopia Lose Myself" reminds me of water. The element of water. I think the song sounded sorrowful, I just felt the pain. A lot of Dreamcatcher's songs are like that, I know they've been through a lot of struggles. I hope they get more recognization for their music, I haven't seen rock in k-pop before; well besides BTS experimenting with music or Day 6 with an actual band and instruments. Dreamcatcher nice because I listened to a lot of rock music growing up. I didn't think Dreamcatcher suited the cutesy stuff from k-pop.
I'm so late!! But bcuz Boca and Scream was clear to understand, BUT when you mentioned Siyeons hand movement!!😲 goosebumps!! Waah you are so smart👍 Amazing work!! I Always enjoy your Dreamcatcher mv theory and you Always Surprise me~❤
I always got the feeling of Scream (Hear no Evil) Boca (Speak no Evil) and Odd Eye (See no Evil). Where Scream starts the negative language and the constant struggle of trying not to scream back at all those who are screaming at you, basically covering your ears as you run away rather than facing the problem in front of you. Boca where finally falling to the negative language you scream back at your attackers and are now part of the problem of spreading the negative language and despite not wanting to be like them you can't help but attack if only to protect yourself. Odd Eye you suddenly realize you are the problem and that you've been spreading negative language just like the others around you, with your eyes closed for so long, "sleep" to your misdeeds they finally open and you see the evil you and many others have spread with your words and actions.
Thank you soo much your videos are always soo helpful and detailed!!! can you also please do a breakdown of dreamcatcher universe or the nightmare series they did before.
Great video! I hope you make more! Kpop songs are really really meaningful! Please continue to spread their beautiful message!!! Thank you! Fighting! 😍😍😍
your theories are absolutely addicting! it makes so much sense! been watching it lately. u inspire me so much! just wondering, if you took literature class or something else, or is it just a matter of deep analyzation?
This storyline is so relevant and would make a great short. We all know about the antibullying campaigns going on. Sometimes it take a more than a celeb saying don't do it. Like smoking. I don't think things got interesting to kids until the ads became creative. Interesting. More in tune with the kids. 50 and 60 year old actors really didn't work. This line is so freaking awesome it could possibly do good. Of course some bully's are wired like that. However some are created by their environment and may think twice if they had a message that was meaningful and stuck in their head.

Seriously, when I heard “Too many angels dying now”, all the news about idols ending their life flashed in my mind and I cried. 😭
I didn't wanna look too deep into it, but after watching this video, it has to be about that. Strong words from strong queens.
This remind me of Sulli and Go Hara TT
