  • I have been waiting a month for this day and I couldn’t be happier with the final results. This is the 72”x27” ultra flex 3d background from AquaDecor the install was actually pretty darn easy all things considered.

    I just don't think to put the heater in the back of the 3D back ground panel is efficient. The back of the panel will keep the warm water and will set the heater off too fast, isn't that common sense? Unless the filter actually pulls the water and give back to the system and it doesn't overheat. Is that what happens? I mean, it's an amazing way to hide the heater, but inefficient way to actually heat the tank, depending on where the sensor to control the heater is. Have you tested the real temperature and how it is working for you? You have a very nice system there with that background! Thanks for sharing.

      It’s actually far more effective to have the heater back there and the intakes directly beside the heater. So the intake pulls in hot water and distributes it to the front of the background and the holes in the background are constantly pulling water from the front as well. It works very well and the temp on the front is within a 1/10 of a degree of the water behind the background.

      @@BigCichlidsWy So you spend hundreds for the background and then punch holes in it? If the holes are large enough to allow for temp equalization, I would think that small fish would tend to get behind the background piece and stay there. Perhaps you can shed more light about this aspect of the setup.

    • @BigCichlidsWy
      @BigCichlidsWy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kevingurall5555 the holes are not meant for temperature regulation it was meant to allow much more flow of intake water from the front display portion of the tank to the rear of the tank behind the background because I wanted the water to be pulled in from right where the fluval intakes are.

    why do you have to make holes in the background ? wont water just seep thru the sides of the background .

    • @BigCichlidsWy
      @BigCichlidsWy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it will but the pressure at the sides will be high and the intakes could use as much flow as possible. Plus I prefer to have the holes cut in it right where the intakes are at behind the background. But I suppose you could get away with no holes

      @@BigCichlidsWyI have been trying to get my own and seeing the videos as far as I know it's worth whatever I have to pay , and I have no problem cutting some flow holes for my canisters. Maybe I just might add some black mesh on the backside with some gel glue!!!

    Congrats Matt. About how much do that size run for your size tank? I think your fish will brighten up and look better as well with the contrast. I just got a 210 for my guys and that's the one thing I'll miss is my backround

      Thanks, yeah I think they’ll also look better with this new background. As far as pricing goes I had 0 discounts so I paid full price and it was about $700 USD. That’s for 72”x27” in the ultra flex which is their most premium model (most expensive) lol

    Do you have any pictures of the holes that you drilled for your filter?

    • @BigCichlidsWy
      @BigCichlidsWy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I initially drilled holes. Which turned out to be no where near enough flow. So I used a razor and cut larger holes (slits) in naturally formed crevices and that has helped a lot.

      @@BigCichlidsWy anyway you can help or explain a little more? Mine is being shipped this week and nervous about cutting up something new and definitely wanna hide my intakes behind if possible.

    • @BigCichlidsWy
      @BigCichlidsWy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@keithgraczyk-uu8kn yeah absolutely! So in the crevices of the rocks like where you would imagine holes you cut would be most hidden is where you should make the holes. And if the holes you cut are large enough for your fish to go through I definitely recommend using the plastic mesh they send you and use a 100% silicone one without the mildew and mold resistance is the kind you want. And silicone the mesh in where you make your holes. Make the holes near the intakes behind it. You’ll want plenty of holes too for flow. The good thing is they put a sponge on the sides of the backgrounds and that will allow a ton of flow to go behind the background as well.

    • @AQUARIUMFREAK123
      @AQUARIUMFREAK123 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      is the reason that you had to drill the holes is because the sides of the background are so water tight fitted to the glass sides That it needs those holes for the water to flow into the background pump intake ?@@BigCichlidsWy
