Thank you for the fantastic nostalgia! Particularly the sound - the clanking-squealing-squeaking of these trains is etched into my childhood memory ... although in my case it was from waay further west - Philadelphia - where my grand parents lived!

Wonderful ,lived in Grangetown Sunderland till 1967 ,evocative memories off all the rail system ,the sounds and smell come rolling back with a sadness of all that we have lost .

      Hello Jeffrey,
Thank you for your kind comments.
I have recently posted a video containing steam workings from Sunderland South Dock shed which may also be of interest to you.
      Peter.

Ironically regularly cycle many of the old line routes across Co Durham and it’s fascinating to see how they were as working railway lines. Great way to see a beautiful county 😁

I am afraid that this system and all of the collieries in County Durham have gone but some of the track beds have been repurposed as roads, footpaths and cycle routes.

The new bridge over the new A19 dual-carriageway remained unused until quite recently; until the new road into Seaham Harbour was built along the existing alignment.

Cool. That's what they do in coal mining.
