Bit of fun with a group of us at Fort Victoria. It's been a while since I have fished a comp, so we gathered a few new and old friends to have a fish with fivers in and winner takes all. It proved to be quite hard fishing, but I managed to find quite a few dogs. Big well done to Will for winnig the pot

Thanks Steve, I actually lost some footage too, which is probably just as well, as the vids are definitely a bit long, trouble with yacking quite a bit. Yeah Will did well on a tough session. All dogs really, but fingers crossed I can pull something different tonight🎣👍👍
Thanks for posting, Dylan. Looked a lovely evening, shame there weren’t more fish caught, but not a blank and good to be fishing with friends. Enjoying my time away, but also looking forward to returning home to the Island and fishing again.

Thanks Kev mate, yeah a few of the guys moved because of the snags. Yet Nik fished it the week before and was completely snag free. Doesn't make sense. I took all the wrong leads with me too, but luckily only lost a couple of rigs, and that was due to getting pulled into snags by crossed lines. All good fun though🎣👍👍
Well done dylan on finding some fish i had a stinker that night but was still nice to get out.
Thanks is mate, yeah it was defo hard going, I was going to start on the beach further up where you moved to, but changed my mind in the end. Still lost a couple mainly from getting caught up with neighbors lines. I reckon we left a fair bit of lead out there 🤣🎣👍👍

Nice one mate, Pollack is great, I've had a couple from there in the past, just to the left as you get down. Quite close in mine was aswell. I was bass fishing🤣🎣👍👍

Thanks buddy, it's a lovely place to fish for sure, it's an easy access venue, but the fishing can be frustrating at times. I went somewhere else last night and managed a 13lb hound. My best to date, so was well chuffed😁🎣👍👍

No mate, there are two there, and at low the closer in one is a pain in the backside, that's why I crank it as hard as I can, it looks and sounds stupid, but that's how you get up over it. There's so much old tackle hooked up in it as well, it can be difficult at times👍🎣🎣

Thanks mate, yeah I thought we might have been on, but then I always think that, I. Two minds where to try tomorrow. It's a high down, low at 9:30ish, so I'm thinking maybe gurnard cliffs for a hound, or just stay local for a bass, what do you reckon 👍👍
@@FrugalOutdoors are there actually hounds being caught mate? There not big tides at the moment so probably I would target the bass if it were me, but it’s fishing , anything can happen dude

If you cast to far there, apart from the ledge isnn't there a petrified forest there? IRC fishing virtually the spot on holiday good few years ago and lost a lot of gear. Smoothies to 10lb and Thorbacks to 9lb and 3-4lb Bass at the Admiraly pier in Dover atm. You might guess whereabouts I am.
There maybe one out there, but it would have to be pretty deep, I know further up the coast there are areas where there is. Also the back of the island you get loads petrified wood with fools gold all through it, but they are higher up the cliff in the clay. It's just a horrible snag pit🤣🤣👍🎣🎣

Fingers crossed for you mate, yeah it was a bit slow for us for sure, I think those northerly winds didn't help. Southerly now though, hoping to get out tomorrow, we'll see how we get on🎣👍👍

Hey mate, if you're bringing crab over, I'm sure you'll get into some fish. Our club doesn't have a comp on while you are here, but there may well be another one on. If you check out isle of wight sea fishing on Facebook there may well be one on. I'm not on Facebook, but there are quite often friendly comps on with some of the tackle shops👍🎣🎣
Lots of fun there over very many many…. years Dylan. My father had a 3.2 sole just up the beach towards Fort Vic. Probably one of my favourite places on the island, certainly the best sunset….Another lovely video mate…👌❤️🎣
Ah yeah mate, it used to be notoriously good for some just a little up on the beach towards fort Albert, but unfortunately not so much these days, although I'm sure there must be a few around you there still. Glad you enjoyed mate👍🎣🎣

I was knackered reeling in there mate, when that tide is running, and you have the tiniest amount of weed on, it can be a nightmare, that and having to reel like mad to get over the ledge, yeah I was pooped🤣🤣. I'm a builder mate, plasterer by trade, but cover all aspects. You'd think if have a bit of stamina wouldn't you🤣🎣👍👍

Hey buddy, I use the Gemini neoprene tubing, I find the neoprene grips better to the line, and is far tougher than the silicone and pvc. Having said that, I do use the silicone tubing to stand my hook snoods off a bit to prevent tangles. Hope that helps mate👍🎣🎣

Dylan why a dongle rig mate ?
Just giving it a go really, seeing so much about a better hook up, less deep hooked fish as well, so slightly better for fish welfare. Also being as it's a circle hooks and only one of them, it's slightly better at the snaggy marks, I'm using a circle on most of my pennel rigs as well now👍🎣🎣
