    Thank you for this wonderful tip. Aligning layers on my cards had always been a struggle for me, as well. I took your tip one step further and instead of using the grid paper that comes with MISTI, I used EZ Quilting 882670027 Quilter's Template Plastic Assortment. The set comes with four transparent 8-1/2-inch by 11-inch gridded plastic sheets and two transparent plastic 8-1/2-inch by 11-inch plain sheets. The grid is in 1/16 increments. You can cut them to the size of your MISTI (no need to cut them if you use Memory MISTI). Since they are transparent it can be a little bit of an eye sore seeing the MISTI's gridlines, as well, so I simply placed one sheet of white printer paper directly on the MISTI grid and then one sheet of the EZ Quilting grid on top of it.

    Excellent. The MISTI is great. It, and the WRMK envelope punch board are two of the greatest tools for crafters. Every day smart crafters like you find--and share--new uses to make crafting more fun. Thank you.

    I have poor vision (which is slowly growing worse - macular degeneration) and I've struggled with this for years. You're brilliant, Linda. This is a fantastic solution. Both were, and I can't wait to try it. Thank you so very, very, very much.

    For those who don't have a silhouette, how do you make the rectangle 1/8th? Thank you.

    • @Sandiegeek
      @Sandiegeek 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use Spellbinders Matting 5x7 Basics A S6-001 and Spellbinders Matting 5x7 Basics B S6-002.
      Take the biggest rectangle die from set A, and cut the rectangle. Then take rectangle shape you got and the biggest rectangle die from set B. Matt the set B die perfectly on top of the rectangle shape and run it through your die cutting machine. The result is the 1/8 rectangle frame. Regretfully you will have to do this in 2 steps, as you cannot nest the 2 dies and run them through the machine together as the sides of the die from set B runs a little bit over the cutting lines of the die from set A and you will ruin your dies. Hope this helps.

    • @vitazgal9933
      @vitazgal9933 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got it....info is perfect ! Two steps is fine. I appreciate the item #s being listed-that makes it super clear & easy to find. :)
      ~cheers~

    • @Sandiegeek
      @Sandiegeek 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don’t have those two sets of dies and you only want to purchase them just to create this frame it will be rather expensive. Instead you could cut a rectangle at the desired size, then measure in (from the side of the rectangle) 1/8” and draw a line parallel with the side of your the rectangle shape. Repeat this on the remaining three sides. Then use a craft knife or blade to cut on the drawn lines up to the point where the lines intersect in each corner and you will be left with 1/8 frame.

    • @vitazgal9933
      @vitazgal9933 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know I was just thinking it would be too expensive to rush out and buy...I do have set A...:) & think I can just add the 1/8...I didn't realize I had this set until you mentioned in reply to my first comment above. This sounds easy enough...thanks for all the time & detail/suggestions...very kind of you!

    • @Sandiegeek
      @Sandiegeek 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don't feel like measuring after cutting your rectangle, just use 1/8 double sided tape on all four sides of the rectangle and then use the craft knife to cut around double sided tape. You can leave it like this or, if you want to remove the double sided tape, remove the paper strip that covers the glue and with the craft knife lift the tape on one corners and then use your finger to roll it off in the direction of the strip. As you roll it, the tape glues on itself. Do this until the end of the strip. Repeat this action on all four strips. I did this plenty of times with double sided tape when I applied it on the wrong side of the paper :-) It comes off really neat this way.
      By the way, I found the Set B on ebay, search for item number 371651298490. It's only $12.99 + $2.99 shipping.

    To make this work, it seems that the smaller piece must be a specific size in relationship to the larger piece. sound like too much math for me!
