- With the resident Cumbrae ferry MV Loch Shira suffering from some technical issues it was a surprise to many who was chosen to cover on her behalf, as the resident Skye ferry MV Loch Fyne was brought in. Operating during the summer on the Mallaig to Armadale service the Loch Fyne during this period has her ramps stowed in a way she cannot use slipways as the Mallaig service utilises linkspans at both sides of the crossing, therefore in the past few years once the winter timetable is introduced and the sailings from Mallaig to Skye are reduced Loch Fyne usually finds herself laid up for the winter at Sandbank, however for this year they have changed the ramps back so she can now once again use slipways giving her scope to cover more crossings. Prior to this she had been covering for her sister Loch Dunvegan on the Colintraive to Rhubodach sailing whilst Dunvegan was away for overhaul, however her spell on the Largs to Cumbrae crossing as a rare opportunity as in the past she had only ever once covered on the route in 2013, however, her size might be of use during the winter allowing her to cover various other routes in the winter, so we shall see where she ends up next!
Hope you enjoy the video!
I find it very strange why there was a picture of Lord of The Isle and Waverley Inside her lounge. Instead of Loch Fyne and Waverley.
Its strange how it can do Mallaig to armadale with no catering but, when courisk is on it has a cafe open.
