Wow, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. Its brings a warm smile to my face to hear and see you Stewart. Great flying. I'm glad your back on the screen. Cheers
Just bought this model and, like you, I changed the livery to VMF 214 The Jolly Rogers paint scheme. Also recently purchased the 1600mm Spitfire. Added invasion markings to that beauty. The Spitfire is the best behaved Spitfire I've ever owned. Great products all the way around.
Great video my friend and one amazing bird. It looks so good in the air and I just love that third landing. Perfect. Thanks for posting and big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
Stuart, I just want to say "Thanks". The way you talk your way through the maneuvers is extremely helpful to us that are trying to improve our flying skills and don't have a personal trainer! You explained some things that I have found myself doing, and not knowing why and gave tips to help with things I have been trying to fix. I appreciate what you do. Oh, and my FlightLine F4u will be here Tuesday and the Callie Graphics "Marines Dream" decal set shortly after.
Nice vid Stuart & Tom, thanks for spending your time showing us how these new Motionrc planes perform on a typical european grass runway! Greetings from Belgium, Geert
thomgrasso hi, there are several quite near by, if you wanted to come by the warehouse one day I can give you more information, just send us a message via CS on our website and we can arrange.
Great looking plane, like your choice of livery. Also, thanks for the detailed review on flight characteristics. I'm ready to maiden mine and really appreciate the tips you provided on takeoffs and especially landings.
DW Productions I do to, works well, but yellow is a PITA to get good solid coverage with. Don’t tell anyone, but it took 15 coats of spray to get a solid finish!
Beautiful video Stuart and Tom! A great presentation of a beautiful scale model. Very nice flown and well filmed. Clearly explained. You are a specialist. Nice also the runcam images from the air. Compliments👍
Hey Alpha, I flew times ago the 1500mm-version from FMS. What about a video done by myself, comparing those? Love flying the FMS but this looks like a little more flyable cause of working flaps. Like that so much!
It was great to buy a large scale Warbird and NOT have to say, “I wish..”. Like in “It could take a bigger battery”, or “it was faster”, or “had a bigger prop.” The 1600mm Corsair on the maiden was fast, predictable, easy to fly and accommodated both a 5000 and 6000 6s battery. Nothing on the plane needs to be upgraded. Out of the box it’s a head turner at the field. For those new to the Flightline version of the Corsair be ready for some HARD LEFT PROP TORQUE. After two aborts on takeoff, I lowered the flaps to mid, and for whatever reason the hard left went away and it took off scale. (Rudder high rate was 90/30 and without flaps I couldn’t get the Corsair off the ground before snapped left. Could just be me, but be prepared for it on your maiden) The only plane I own I could compare the FL Corsair to would be the FL P-38. And there’s no comparison other than the wingspan, and once trimmed out they both are a dream to fly. Looking forward to the 1600mm Spitfire when it’s back in stock.
I freaking love the corsair, dynam 1200mm was first plane. Wore it slap out! Been through several others since, including phoenix 46-55 balsa with an os 65 shoe horned in (damn tree). If i had room in the hanger, the bird cage version would be here already! Maybe I'll crash something and room will magically appear in the hanger. Now motion rc has me wishing to crash! DAMN!
Stuart, great video, thanks!! My Corsair is almost ready for maiden flight (if we can ever get some decent weather!). A couple questions, please: 1. what amount of down elevator mixing settings did you use for mid- and full-flaps? 2. what amount of right rudder trim did you end up with for your plane? Thanks!!
Really nice to see some good focus on warbird/taildragger technique. Second and third takeoffs were brilliant. Not too much fan of the opposite rudder stuff though. Sure, great for display passes, but for normal turns you want to be doing the exact opposite: Positive rudder, opposite aileron (to counter the natural rudder to roll mix). Standard coordinated turn in other words. Seeing how benign the stall is, she could probably be landed a lot slower, with higher nose and more active throttle, but I completely understand not wanting to advocate that to the average customer.
Hi Janmb, you are not wrong, but that's the great thing about this model, it will let you fly in a style that suits the individual and not once complain about it. For me, I found opposite rudder useful in a lot of scenario's, but particularly when turning and say half throttle like the first turn after take-off to reduce the build up of speed in this turn and maintain a nice scale look to the turn. On landing you wouldn't want to slow it down too much on that final descending approach, the gear doors and the big prop create enough drag as they are, it will bite if you slow it too much at this point, just ask James ;) S.
Slower speed / positive nose simply requires more throttle management. But yeah, it is more marginal and requires knowing the model well for sure. Hanging by the flaps nose down works fine though, plenty enough drag to make that work. The downside is that it will lead the "I never use flaps, it has always worked for me" crowd into trouble with overly hot landings 100 yards past where they stand
@@janmb Then its something new for that crowd to use/try ;) If someone tries something new and learns how to do it, then that's the best result for me with these video's.
Hey Roderick, I used the following paint on my plane: TESTORS 'Sea Blue' enamel, 0.25 fl. oz bottle, bar code on bottle = 7561111720. I found it to be an almost perfect match! And, I painted a lot of "bare white" areas, like the insides of the battery hatch area, as well as minor touch ups. I applied the paint over a week ago, and I see no problems whatsoever from using this (enamel) paint on the foam. Hope this helps.
Nice flying generally. Great model. However saying that you don't want to bank too much and use the rudder in the turn to stop the wing dropping is wrong. Doing this is called a skid and the inside wing then produces less lift and actually increases risk of a spin. Many RC pilots do this and some full size pilots too however. Other than for torque compensation rudder is only needed to compensate for the aileron causing adverse yaw. Once desired bank angle is achieved, ailerons return to neutral and no adverse yaw anymore so no rudder needed after ailerons are neutral. Gentle back pressure will control the nose and help the turn. Hate to see someone spin in on such a nice bird.
I would love for some company to come up with some kind of magic surface for the foam planes, they don't age very well, paint keeps chipping away all the time :\
michaelj4729 i wanted to show the slow landing speed at touch down and how well the struts work. It can of course do a wheeled landing well, but that’s not my bag!
Keep the yapping coming lol. Getting thought patterns and the model experience out there is half the point with these videos. Also some much needed teaching value to be had there.
I really liked how you talked us through all your maneuvers.

Good video, nice plane. I like the go pro camera. It would be really cool if you could mount go pro at cockpit???

André Rousseau hey, thank you!
How does the Corsair fly compared to the 1600mm Spitfire?
I'd say they are equal in the air. The Corsair would be easier a bit on the ground with the wider stance...just like the real thing!

what ever you use, make sure its acrylic and ideally, water based.

And did you mix in any elevator with the flaps?
rgr4475 hi, I did not need any mixing, it’s naturally a very smooth transition.

You said you were running 5s? Not 6s?
Probably slip of the tongue. Flying on the Admiral 5000mAh 6S pack
rgr4475 if I did then that was a slip as we suggested. All these birds @1600mm are 6s 5000mah.
@@stuartwarnerc thanks, figured but just wanted to make sure.
What scale graphics fit this size plane?
This Corsair is 1/8th scale.
Thanks for the info nice paint scheme.
I would love for some company to come up with some kind of magic surface for the foam planes, they don't age very well, paint keeps chipping away all the time :\
Lots of people paint then with a clear coat. That could help
@@MotionRC that helps for sure.
