The language is certainly to be appreciated, unfortunately for me, a person for whom English is not a native language, this episode was extremely difficult to understand. I've been watching Your videos for years and I don't remember ever having a problem with it before.
Instead of doing age progression to show what she may look like, why don't they show a picture of her twin sister. Seems like it might be more accurate.🤔
There was a video on TH-cam about a radio interview where Mary's mother was criticising Mary's twin sister Anne for still searching for clues and answers about Mary's dissapearance. That is certainly a huge red flag. I know that people deal with grief and tragedy differently but if my child dissapeared I would search for them until the day I die. I strongly believe that the family knows more about what happened to Mary than they want to admit. I really hope Mary's case gets solved one day.

Y'all really threw the whole thesaurus at this video script. I definitely agree with others that I can imagine it would be helpful for investigators to use current pictures of Mary's twin sister instead of an age progression. I can't even imagine how much having a twin would complicate an investigation with mistaken sightings.
Are you insinuating and thus imposing the ideology that the indepth narration and thorough investigation into such a deeply entrenched account of hidden secrets and mystery that remain awaken in the minds of those Mary loved and left behind in a such bewildering set of unspeakable and mysterious circumstances is too wordy?
I like this channel, but am I the only one having difficulties sometimes understanding some of the words being said? I understand every sentence if I put on subtitles, but the way the sentences are build up is very complex. «Clandestine secrets» «he brazenly wielded the spectre of law enforcement» «the field uttered with an air of menace» «the ominous echo of the festering secrets». Like, surely there is an easier way of saying these sentences? This episode in particular, I had a really hard time understanding what was really being said. I felt like I was listening to a True Crime told by Shakespeare. Anyways, I think they really should have looked at the uncle, who was alone with her in the woods and were the last person who saw her. AND started to give conflicting statements.
@@fishandchipsupper I swear I was like «Hold up…why can’t I focus anymore? The clandestine what now??😐🤔» This channel has, as long as I remember, always been using a bit more advanced way to say things. But the last couple episodes it’s been rough trying to fucus.😩😂😂😭😭

Agreed. You’re a fantastic storyteller. It would be great to pull back on the wordiness a bit and focus on the facts of the case. The fancy words are less important than the people affected by the events.
@@lizardspoint I found a longer video on a channel named "a drop in the ocean" or something similar... IT WAS the uncle indeed. He died a few months ago.
The most likely explanation. Notice how the Gardai never said who the arrested man actually was, because he was never charged. That person, whomever it was, was never charged because they were being protected and someone pulled the handbrake on the investigation. Either that or the uncle didn't do it, but knows who did and quite obviously can't say.
This case is so heartbreaking. But am I the only one who got distracted by the overuse of high faluting words and poetry? Please keep it simple. I felt dizzy trying to follow the narrative. Good work nonetheless. I appreciate your efforts.
I came to the comments to try to find someone else who thought this! The script seemed uncharacteristically clunky, and there were many, many distracting mispronunciations. It felt unusual given this channel’s typically flawless quality.
It is well known what happened. She was being abused by the uncle. What I don’t understand is the power he wields to literally get away with murder. And her own mother failed her so badly.
Looking into the available info, the buildings are only 400 yards apart, and the time line of his leaving with the ladder, delivering it, and returning is pretty tight for it to be the uncle. I do think the story about a big puddle stopping a 6 year old is suspicious, though.
Also, what makes u think, they havent looked into him any further? The case is the most famous cold case in Ireland. They look into it regularly and go through everything again and again, hoping to find something new.
This is one of the cases in ireland that have been a constant in our lives. Its still rare that someone disappears so these cases esp children hit your psyche different. Philip cairns, trevor deely, annie mccarrick, fiona synott, fiona pender, deirdre jacob, josephine jojo dullard and ciara breen. All missing
Everyone in Ireland knows that Mary's uncle was SAing Mary and she said she was going to tell, so he murdered her. Immediately after she died he started building a wall. She was buried under that. Her twin knows what happened, but her mother refused to accept what had happened and stood up for the uncle. The uncle was on the point of confessing to the Gardai (police) when he was being questioned in the police station about Mary's "disappearance", but someone walked into the interview room, disturbing the interview, giving him the chance to stop what he was going to say. Ann was ostracised by her mother because she has worked nearly all her life trying to get justice for Mary. R.I.P. Mary.
This seems more like a mystery story without names except for the children. I watched a documentary on this case and it was very in-depth. Mary had an older cousin who was a famous singer/ musician and she used her platform to try to get public attention for this case, and still it is not solved.
@@fishandchipsupper When using "R.I.P." in English, it has become common practice not to put periods after each letter. This is likely due to the fact that it is treated more like a symbol or abbreviation rather than an acronym in modern usage. Either way, I hope this little one can rest in peace.

Totally agree with others on two points: I love that you "bring the cases to life" in more of a storytelling way, painting an image in our minds. But this image was painted by Picasso, using his left foot, whilst high on opium, and having a painful flare up of Shingles! It was so WORDY I completely lost the story in the middle. I hate to criticise but it went from True Crime into a Hercule Poirot script for a murder mystery whodunnit! Secondly, what's with the age progression photos? Firstly because she never progressed a day of her life past that day, but also because she's a twin, right??? It hardly needed shoddy computer programming to guess what she'd look like now! 😳 Anyhoo.... IMO.... It's the uncle.... The most obvious person and last one to see her alive. None of those other "could be" suspects. What they just happened to be waiting in the bushes in that exact remote country area did they? Hoping that a six year old would come past soon, like waiting for a bus? 🙄 Course it's the uncle. He's the most obvious person available.
Well, it's only about 400 yards total between the buildings, so halfway is about 200 yards. And it's rural Ireland in the late 1970's. So yeah, many people would allow that. However, I agree that the Uncle's story about a big puddle stopping a 6 year old seems odd. Most 6 year old's would get lots of fun out of a nice big puddle of water.
I've heard about this case and I always thought it was strange that none of Mary's family members or the Garda seemed to want to solve the case and kept it under wraps. Her twin sister and cousin seem to be the only ones who care about finding the truth and Ann believing that Mary was SA makes me think something more was going on with that family or that uncle at the least. Sadly, we will never know what happened unless someone starts talking.
Really tragic case. I feel so horrible for Mary and can only hope she gets the justice ahe deserves one day. I strongly believe the uncle has something to do with her disappearance. I could just tell by hearing his story and how malicious he looks. If it was him, i hope he gets what he deserves. I pray for Mary and her two siblings.
Just shows that who you know, and who you pay off, is everything . Sure hope uncle's enjoyed his life of freedom. ... while little Mary has no life at all .
I won't win any popularity contests by saying this, I suspect, but this sounds like an accident to me. It actually reminds me of the case of Bobby Dunbar, here in America, who disappeared under similar walk-in-the-woods circumstances in 1912. That case was surrounded by an equal amount of wild speculation, this time around his being kidnapped or lost, and resulted (as we now know through DNA testing) in the wrong kid being returned to the grieving family. But I digress. The point is that we have precious little cause to accuse murder until a body is found, and while the suspect(s) do a bad job of looking innocent, there's little or nothing to actually connect them to the case except for speculation. hat rapid disappearance as the family approached home sounds an awful lot like a single, tragic wrong turn, until something more turns up.
Lol was going to comment on how flowery the vocabulary was but see the comment from the creator. Makes it real difficult to watch, however much I may respect it.
My thinking on this is that the leaving back of this ladder was a excuse as this child was murdered earlier and that person was Covering his tracks and who would decide to leave a ladder back on a ST Patrick week end this certainly rings a bell The building of a stone 🪨🪨🪨🪨 wall is a clue to me the body could be in or under that wall
A little over-wrought; the actual facts get lost in the floweriness of the writing. What became of Robert Black's involvement? That is a damning witness account while he was in the pub.
No way any adult would send a 6 year old to find her way back home, I dont care how far it is. On top of that did he really need a 6 year old to help him return a ladder? The uncle did it without question...I just dont know where he could have hid the body so quickly. He would have been soaked and muddy head to toe if he put her in the bog, im curious what he looked like upon returning the ladder

Its tough to gauge because im in America and live in a different culture and setting
@@ingridfong-daley5899 check for the whole story in other channels. He did it, for sure. At first he even avoided to give any answer to the mother. He just stared the void without a word. After maybe days of searching for the girl, he made up the ladder story. After he dug a hole in the ground. He always refused to let the cadaver dogs into the property, even after years, without explainations. The twin sister wanted more investigations, so her mother (the creepy uncle's sister) estranged her. He did it
@@Cereal_Killer007 Honestly, guys without kids really don't, mostly because they don't know "at what age" certain developmental abilities present. Maybe a smart man would know better, but even simple things like what foods or toys are age-appropriate don't seem to function as intuitively as you might expect.

I wish the police took the uncle's statement serious. as in being the last person to have seen her, I wish they pressed him harder maybe he would have admitted to it Such an innocent child with a beautiful smile, Mary deserves to get justice.
The police took it very seriously and still do. Did u not hear about them continuing to search for her for months? And they still go through the case regularly to this day, hoping to find something new.
@@dfuher968 oh sorry about that. thanks for telling me about my mistake, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known that what I wrote didn't mean what I wanted to. But i have corrected my mistake. I really appreciate. Thanks. Stay blessed ☺️
I think they have an idea who is the main suspect, but need more clues.
Totally agree with others on two points:
I love that you "bring the cases to life" in more of a storytelling way, painting an image in our minds.
Anyhoo.... IMO....
It's the uncle.... The most obvious person and last one to see her alive.
None of those other "could be" suspects. What they just happened to be waiting in the bushes in that exact remote country area did they? Hoping that a six year old would come past soon, like waiting for a bus? 🙄
Course it's the uncle. He's the most obvious person available.
Would you leave your niece unescorted to go alone back to the farm? Disgusting!!!! Irresponsible and utter neglect!! Call yourself an Uncle do you??
Well, it's only about 400 yards total between the buildings, so halfway is about 200 yards. And it's rural Ireland in the late 1970's. So yeah, many people would allow that. However, I agree that the Uncle's story about a big puddle stopping a 6 year old seems odd. Most 6 year old's would get lots of fun out of a nice big puddle of water.
My uncles told me to run back up to the house on lanes the same size as a child. It isint far.
That's because she never did that journey. He just made it up.
I don’t know why but this story as told here lost me? I was very confused….😕
The uncle did it.
Exactly. Why wouldn't he just carry her over the puddle on his shoulders even if he had to carry the ladder across the pond first
How can you be so sure, Miss Marple? 😊
She kissed the Blarney stone! ❤seriously, the little one was adorable. May she find justice.
Mary 🙏
i feel like ive stumbled upon the most obvious answer to an unsolved mystery in history
Thank you DC🙏🏼💔🕊️🦌
It's "vacillating" with a "v", not an "f"
I've heard about this case and I always thought it was strange that none of Mary's family members or the Garda seemed to want to solve the case and kept it under wraps. Her twin sister and cousin seem to be the only ones who care about finding the truth and Ann believing that Mary was SA makes me think something more was going on with that family or that uncle at the least. Sadly, we will never know what happened unless someone starts talking.
Uncle!
Gerry, you naughty uncle, what did you want to stop her talking about!!!!
Ann would have been able to tell because it wouldn't have been just one twin.
@@chellesama8256He could have threatened to do something to the twin if Mary told her.
Is it strange this I looked very similar to Mary when I was young and my grandparents came from the same part of Ireland
Very dark and disturbing case. I'm sure there was some molestation going on in that family.
Just shows that who you know, and who you pay off, is everything .
Sure hope uncle's enjoyed his life of freedom.
... while little Mary has no life at all .
🥺💔
Uncle planned it out.
Your narration is so exquisitely eloquent, but I'd imagine if English isn't your first language, it would be a tricky one! 😊
A very mind puzzling disappearance 💚🙏
DC is on fire 🔥 😳 lately😊😊😊
It seems to me that her sister may have something to say about her mysterious disappearance.
They only searched the perimeter of the Lake.
Im always confounded that she was left on her own why was no adult with her
❤❤😢
Looking at a child, perhaps at mischief, doesn't indicate he actually did anything. The field was dug up and showed up nothing
Cardigan doesn't really indicate anything
GERRY wtf is that baby girl at 🤬😒
Her uncle was there right
I won't win any popularity contests by saying this, I suspect, but this sounds like an accident to me.
Was she Dany Boyle's girl???😢😢😢
Definately the Uncle. RIP Mary
🎉🎉
Lol was going to comment on how flowery the vocabulary was but see the comment from the creator. Makes it real difficult to watch, however much I may respect it.
My thinking on this is that the leaving back of this ladder was a excuse as this child was murdered earlier and that person was Covering his tracks and who would decide to leave a ladder back on a ST Patrick week end this certainly rings a bell The building of a stone 🪨🪨🪨🪨 wall is a clue to me the body could be in or under that wall
Late night sneaky uncle. 😢
WTF is a "potato pit"? Any why does it need to be 7ft (2m) deep?
A potato cellar, just not under the house.
@@toastercatx I also do not know what a potato cellar is.

Yeah I always blamed the uncle something not right there
✌❤🙏
A little over-wrought; the actual facts get lost in the floweriness of the writing. What became of Robert Black's involvement? That is a damning witness account while he was in the pub.
It was the creepy Uncle.
An adult male with no children himself might.
@@ingridfong-daley5899,, oh ,, he has kids ,,,,, I live not to far where this happen,,,at the time my family were not living here at the time,, when it happened at time ,, my gran told my mum,,, my mother is local,,
@@ingridfong-daley5899 Even people without kids know better than that. Plus he was an uncle so he was around kids enough to get a feel for their capabilities. I also dont believe a 6 year old would choose to walk home alone through the woods, but since they seem to live in a rural setting that may be wrong.
It was the uncle Gallagher for sure
Family involvement, and shoddy investigative work, are what keeps Cold Cases 'on ice.'
BTW, whoever wrote this script, they've got a prose style that's similar to the way True Crime was written in the thirties and forties.
I like it! 👍
The Uncle.
