  • Randy Newberg, Hunter is with Nosler, learning the important steps of reloading your own ammunition. In all prior episodes, we went step-by-step, selecting all components needed to load a .308 Win for elk hunting. When we finished, we had loaded cartridges with 165 grain Accubond bullets.
    This video covers a lot of additional ideas that might not have been covered in any of the prior videos. We did a call for questions on Facebook and Instagram while we were there.
    This video covers, E-Tip bullets, weights for monolithic bullets, section density, penetration, weight retention, gear Randy uses because it works, first elk hunt, guided or DIY, hunt elk every year, game bags, ballistic calculators, Freshies, and a ton of other elk and reloading questions.

    I have not reloaded in years, I plan to start reloading again soon. This series of videos on reloading was a great refresher for me.

    Love this series! Lots of great information. I am super interested in reloading my 300 win mag. Nosler is super precise in their quality and results. Thank you for this series. I would really like to reload the 165 accubond for 300 win mag. Would be great for elk, mule deer, mountain sheep, and large whitetail. Thanks for sharing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    Randy, that was a great & informative video series. Having only hunted "Big Game" for 15 years, all with a bow, my eyes are beginning to wander over to the rifle section. This video series helped give me more confidence in choosing my 1st "Big Game" rifle & cartridge combo. Thanx for all you do....

    Great series, very informative, thanks very much. One of the questions was about wind, download the nosler app and see what different wind velocities do at different distances.

    Good informative series. I shoot a 7mm-08 with a 139 btsp over 45 gr of IMR 4350. I'm hoping to take it on an elk within the next few years.

    Hey Randy, you got some good info here on this series and I am gonna keep these vids close. Like to keep my existing rifles to do what I want them to do or close to it with the ammo that's out there, just like to make smart choices and I'll do that by hanging on to your pant leg! I don't reload yet but have been thinking hard about it....cheers

    In my Sako .308 i used the 150 gr Nosler Partition, did better than the 165 gr. In my Sako .270 I use a 130 gr partition, in my .223 i use the 55 gr E-Tip... Over 50 years i used the Partition for pigs, goats, and deer, never let me down on any game. I just cant bring myself to try Bergara or Hornady. I did use a 40 gr Sierra soft point on foxes in the .22 Hornet.

    This was a great video. Tons of helpful information and information to give a lot of thought to.
    My dad told me once when it came to hunting equipment and reloading is that you buy the best you can afford. If a $1000 scope is not in your budget but a $500 one is that's what you buy.
    My question to you Randy is if you have a budget do you spend most of your budget on the rifle or the optics for the rifle? Which one do you not scrimp on?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. That's a tough one. Probably optics gets allocated a bit more money.

    Randy, great series, what is the differences between the accubond and accubond LR and how do they preform on mule deer or elk at different distances.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. There are small differences in design profile. Performance at different distances depends on what distance and the velocity at impact. Both will provide controlled expansion and excellent penetration.

    Hey randy I called and talked to the howa factory rep. He told me that howa designs and builds their rifles around the hornady bullets. Have you tried both and what do you recommend?

    Not too sure about loading for a friend. Anything Ever goes haywire and a guy may be held liable for any and all damages. Sorry to say, but that is today's sue happy world. Lots of liability here!!

    You guys need to s-can the older guy. He just makes it long and drawn out. The younger guy knows what he's doing. Let him make the videos by himself and then I'll watch.
