The broken rear wiper and the tailgate alarm might be down to the flexi cable that goes into the top of the tailgate being worn or broken. The early cars had a little mechanism on the tailgate lock that allowed you to mechanically release the tailgate from inside the boot. Hope this might help, let us know how much removing the broken manifold bolts will be. Good luck with it.
Dont bother drilling the snapped studs out, just do the washer&nut weld trick. Ive just done exactly the same job on the other side of the 4 studs. Should have known when i saw the engine lift strap sat on top of the manifold 😫 If you were closer id offer to do the removal for you 👍
@restoringsalvage keep us posted on how it goes. Just a heads up - to make life considerably easier, just remove the front bumper and rad pack/air con, as it gives much easier access (obviously recover aircon gas before you do). Adds an additional hour, but reduces the chances of screwing up the head.
@@restoringsalvage front bumper off - both front lower arm supports and their brackets - front crash bar - drop coolant and pull aircon gas - disconnect hoses and take whole front pack off. Once youve done it a couple of times, taking the front off of a 500 becomes daily routine 😂🙈 i dont even put the regular tools back in my toolbox anymore. Theyre forever toolbox outcasts 😂🙈
