Nice tie. Definitely going to try that pattern in different colors for freshwater bass. 👍👍👍

What a great variation of the Gurgler. I was a member of the same fly tying club as Jack Gartside & took classes with him. I know he used to use a Gurgler on the flats for bonefish but don’t recall his ever mentioning it as a shrimp pattern. He would have loved this.
I think this would work quite well on stripers on the flats here in MA, although I might use brown rather than grey. There are times when the stripers push shrimp to the surface in channels on our flats, & I’ll bet this would work quite effectively.

Thanks for stopping in, FlyTyer1948. I didn't know he used the Gurgler on the flats. That's good to know. If you end up tying and trying a few I hope that they work out well for you. I'll be tying some for the bass next season. Cheers and Keep a hook in your vise!

Darren, great tutorial and very nice fly as always. Would love to see your fresh water version for bass. Going to add #shrimp for the eyes. Thanks for sharing and welcome back! Cheers!

Thank you Steve. I have a few ideas for color schemes on the fly. Just need to wait for 2021 to test out a few versions. I really appreciate you stopping by the channel. Cheers

Chimo! Hey cool concept, excellent replication of the bug in the article. #shrimp made me hungry. That bug would make a good surface fly, or fished with a sink tip. Maybe make one neutrally buoyant. Shrimp resemble crawfish. At any rate it's good to see ya! How's things on your side of the "puddle"? Take care, it's crazy out there, thanks for the safe space. Cheers!
PS, I hit Like twice cuz I really liked it. ;o)

Chimo Joe! I ended up tying a few dozen for the client. They were actually really fun to tie up, but I just kept thinking about how this would convert to freshwater. 100% crayfish colors happening I was also thinking the sinktip would be nice, like a booby set-up. Getting colder here, had the first skip of snow this morning but it's already gone. I'm an indoor cat as much as possible, keeping busy tying flies for a couple shops as well. It's helping time pass really quickly.
      Cheers!

@@PiscatorFlies Good to hear buddy. Our string of 70* days ended a while ago. The Lake Effect machine tuned up its engine today both from Erie and Ontario, spat a mixed bag of wetness, it's 32* and windy now. Yeah, I need a new scratch post myself, meow! Keep the faith, 2021 has to better. :o) Cheers!

so after fishing 9 islands in the Bahamas ,the keys and four countries in Central and South America for bonefish...ive never seen one take a fly on top..thats bs...over a year and half of my life devoted to them ..im not saying the fly isnt nice. but that just doesnt happen

I love know it all's... I suppose a redfish never ate a popper either or a tarpon never sucked a dead bait off the bottom.

@@rigginuts yup ive caught my share of them too, and they do eat poppers and dead bait etc...but bones do not eat poppers anywhere ive been..which is everywhere..his fly is beautiful though,,,great use of material
