    This morning I released my first-ever "piano" song. I've released some piano versions of songs before, but "I Wanted To Leave" is the first song that was written for the piano.
    I have a history of being in beautiful places and having a nagging feeling to leave. Even when I’m with people I love, these places start to feel cold and less like home the more I’m there. I think life is full of these juxtaposed environments where we pressure ourselves to stay or go. I wrote this song in Paris, such a beautiful city rich in culture and history. And when I started feeling the urge to leave, this melody emerged.
    I'm looking forward to releasing a few more of these in the coming months so I hope you enjoy.

    It's weird. To me, the melody isn't sad or happy. It's weird. It evokes a strong feeling but I cannot categorize it, it's like it made me feel a peaceful void. It's weird and soothing at the same time.
    Thank you for creating this. I love it.

      I definitely feel a similar way. I wonder if it can be called anemoia, or a nostalgia for something which can’t be expressed.

      It brings the emptiness from heartache in my opinion. If this is a response or different perspective to where's my love I think it's very deep💞

    • @josephgonzales3573
      @josephgonzales3573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      My humble opinion: Music is a language and in this song what you are hearing is NEW BEGINNINGS; a turning of the tide, if you will. Old things passing a way and wrongs being set right. And in this case, it is bitter before it is sweet. It's how resolve feels. This balance could account for the "peaceful void" that you feel. At 2:06 , however I feel this to be out of place, creating an asymmetry with the interlude. The writer/composer may have felt that the song was boring without it. As is, this offset element adds a "settling for something" type feel which could symbolize healing that still remains. Also, although I don't prefer the abruptness of how the song ends, it leaves a firm, take it or leave it situation. I could also see the song being resolved more optimisticly, with a little more finesse..

    • @tc1539
      @tc1539 3 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      This is SUCH a perfect way to describe this songs feeling. It's neither sad nor happy. Just...right there in the middle with a melody of both these emotions. You're happy the war is over, but now comes the years of grief, relief, sadness, happiness, memories etc

    This song feels like autumn. Like dancing in the leaves as the world around you let its shining colors blend together. Like rediscovering your childhood town in muted tones. Like going over all your most ancient memories, the fresh scent of mormings, the crackling of the fire, the sounds of laughter and joy echoing in your head. It feels like coming home. Coming home after a long day and finding silence. Not a bad silence, just the quiet of the living sometimes. The quiet you make when you reflect of life. You go to make yourself a hot drink and you sit on your porch. You sit there for a while and your let the world wash over you. You feel clean, smooth and clear. You feel like hardened cristal. And you find yourself not wanting to leave that moment out of time. You belong here.

      This sounds dumb but sometimes I forget completely that there are people who have never had the opportunity to feel the snow and idk that makes me sad. Something so simple like getting to experience all the joys about every season seems so small and yet there are people that have never chased a snowflake with their tongue or made a snowman/snow Angel or anything snow related at all. That makes me sad because I complain about the snow all of the time but sometimes forget these things. I hope you get to feel the snow someday man. It is a cool experience🙂

      Snow is bad. It's fun to experience, sometimes. But snow and ice can cause many traffic accidents and freeze people to death if they're not careful. If it gets too deep people can be buried alive, and it also causes lots of roads to crack open. Just having a window in your room will drop the temp by 15 degrees. There's really only one advantage to snow, and that is if you lose power, at least you can just throw some snow in your freezer. The nights are really bright though, and you get to see where your dog is peeing on the neighbor's yard, which is bad.

    POV during the song- You've spent most of your life hating who you were. You never felt like you were enough inside or out. One day you decided you were sick of never feeling enough. You pushed yourself to the limit every day, exercising, eating healthy, taking care of yourself for once. And after a while it became habit to love and take care of yourself. And so you lived on. Happy and healthy. Better than before. Transformed.

    To me, this song sounds like exploring an attic on a rainy day in the summer. The smells of dust, old books, and petrichor mixing as the rain beats a tattoo on the roof and you try and piece together the stories of the lives that belonged to all these old, long- forgotten things.

    I always felt bound to change. It is a weird feeling. You always want to move, evolve and transform. Yet, there is that nostalgic feeling when I leave. In those moments where I'm not completely gone and have not arrived to the next destination, I come to terms with what life really is. A journey.

    I need to get this off my chest
    I first heard this song in 2021, and it just STUCK to me, how intricate and beautiful the melody is. Being a (not great but decent) pianist, I immediately looked for the sheet music to be able to play it myself.
    I was 17 at the time, and was getting closer to my friend circles. And there was this girl who I seemed to really like, not in love, but just admiring the person she was. As I got closer to me, she started confiding in me about her life's troubles, how her family was hard on her, how people around her always judged her, and that she always felt trapped in her house and school. When learning the song, it has some stretchy movements on the left hand, and took some challenge to coordinate. But when I finally learnt it in it's entirety, I was so proud of how it turned out. The next call my friends and I had, I told them of how I learnt this cool new piece, and I played it for them.
    When I was done playing it, something I felt in my soul reached out. On the spot, I told them how I was dedicating this piece to her, because the piece "sounded like it matched her vibe" or something like that. I told her later privately how the song's melancholy reminded me of her life, and how badly she wanted to escape from it, start afresh. From then on, this became "her song" for me. She didn't request me to play it much, but whenever I play it or hear it I think of her. Well, it's meaning only grew when a few months later we started dating, and I knew her life inside out. We were madly in love with each other, she was my first true love. This song became a part of her beauty, and her beauty imprinted on the melody of the song.
    We both turned 18, heading for college. She moved out of city, I moved out of country. We were still very in love with each other, and were desperate to make it work. More importantly, her going to college outside our city meant that she had a chance to start living a fresh life without any burdens or labels from her past. And it was all the more incentive to stay on her journey, and I was so happy that she found her way "to leave".
    Well, it didn't really work out. I mean, we gave it our all, despite how hard bearing each other was at times. She'd always been pessimistic and scared of the distance, and in retrospect I don't think our dynamic was too compatible as lovers towards the end. She broke things off after a year and a half, claiming that I couldn't show her enough care to make her feel loved. Hearing this song broke my heart, giving it a whole new meaning for me. Wondering how badly she'd wanted to leave all those last months. I never stopped enjoying this song, but now it's beauty would also come with it's pain.
    It's been over a year since that, I'm almost 21 now. I've been through a lot since then, made friends and lost friends. My current girlfriend and I are very passionate about each other even after a year of being together, and it has been quite some time since I've moved on from "her". But, the pain never stops. I'm sometimes reminded of her now and then, through small things here and there, this song is no exception. Though I have no feelings for her, every time i think of her or our past it comes along with the pain of having lost so much joy from my life. Not that I miss the past, just that the pain remains, even after so long. And sometimes at night, my heart just aches thinking about the past, wishing I could just truly move on and live a better life.
    So whenever I hear this song now, though it's always been dedicated to her, it'll always be a symbol of how much I want to leave from all of this pain. Maybe that's the beauty of life, to find the irony and poetry in even the worst of things. But this song has always been that for me, and will always be a very beautiful song to my heart.
    I doubt anyone will read this, but I really appreciate if you've made it all the way here. Thank you for your time, you have really good music taste.

    This song doesn't remind me of something specific. Instead, it feels.... large. All encompassing. Like everything is held under the umbrella of the tune. Sadness, loneliness, a desolate wasteland. But that wasteland is covered in flowers. Hundreds of thousands of flowers, all in colors that give it life. And there's birds. There's so much, even though it feels so lonely.

    To me, this song is melancholy, it’s bittersweet. It’s like when you finally move on from a really difficult heartbreak but realise with sadness that you’ve forgotten their face. It reminds me of a kind of wistfulness, the one you feel on foggy mornings, the act of looking out a window but contemplating instead of actually observing, when you see a kid doing something you forgot how to do when you grew up, slightly lonely and faintly feeling like something is missing.

    This sounds like the freedom of being unchained by and human expectation, and peacefully dissolving into nature, alone, but not lonely.
    I close my eyes and I’m transported onto Irish cliff sides on a damp, cool day, sitting in the dewy moss, sketchbook in hand. Dwarfed by the surrounding trees above my head, with the sound of water gently crashing onto the rocks below my feet.

I love that you put out different versions of songs. I’m not familiar with other artists who do that the way you do. But I REALLY enjoy this piano version on its own.

      I understand this, I often get this feeling. It's almost a sadness, but not quite. My question is; why is it? What causes it? Is it that I begin to feel that I don't really belong there so it's time to go? It's not MY home. This can actually be a location, say Paris, but it can also be with a group of friends; enjoying, wanting to stay, but feeling it's time to go or I have to go (I don't actually have to, but that's what comes to mind).....like I don't belong, it's not where I'm supposed to be. I think life is a search for belonging. Does that help or make sense?

    • @Celestialnavigator-nr6sb
      @Celestialnavigator-nr6sb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    THIS is the melody to the feeling of “indifference”. Also, that feeling of being in a relationship, knowing you want to leave, the spark is gone..but you can’t leave because of the unknown. So you stay. And you remain indifferent towards the person you’re with…in hopes that the spark might return. But it never does. You’re neither in love nor hating him/her. So you’re stuck on the carousel 🎠…going up, down, and around. It’s neither thrilling nor exciting. But, at least it’s “something”.
