      Did you have sentinel nodes biopsy also?

    Much appreciated. I have surgery (lumpectomy) in the very near future. Dr did not discuss such details. I needed to know what to watch for. 🌷

    Thank you for this informative video. I wish l had see it three years ago when I had my surgery. However, like many, many items on this subject l have watched or read you do not mention lymphoedema. I believe more people undergoing surgery for breast cancer experience lymphoedema than comes to light. There is easy and self help relief for breast lymphoedema if only people were informed about it as a side effect of surgery and radiation.

      Thanks Maureen. Yes lymphoedema can happen after breast surgery usually following radiotherapy. There are definitely many things that can be done to help with symptoms of lymphoedema. And you are right, we probably should talk more about it.

    Dr Tasha, I had mine last week and I am scheduled next week for re-excision inferior margin. Is it normal? I am still not recovering yet from the 1st one.

    My cancerous lump is 9 millimeters. I'll be having lumpectomy in 3 weeks along with sentinel nodes biopsy.
    Does the size of the incision depend on the size of the tumor?

    Very helpful video thank you. How frequently does a surgeon find that the target lump has been removed in the biopsy. Is it more likely with vacuum assisted biopsy, and what does the surgeon look for/ remove if they can't see the target lump?

    • @drtashag
      @drtashag  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the size. If the cancer is small, there is always a possibility that all cancer has been removed, more likely with a vacuum biopsy. That area would have then been localised by the radiologist to guide the surgeon to the area that needs be removed. The pathologist would then examine it.

    • @heatherw9996

      @@drtashag Thank you - that's really helpful to understand - ultrasound indicated mine was small. So they would have located the target area by the wire position and marker (even though the lump wasn't there) and removed sections either side. Does that mean they'd need to remove more tissue/ bigger section of duct to ensure they got enough with margin?

      Excellent question! My node was sized to be 9mm. Then four (4) tissue samples (rice-grain size each) were collected during my biopsy. So my tumor was probably obliterated during the biopsy. But I'm still having surgery in 3 weeks including sentinel lymph node biopsy.

    Can scar tissue from a lumpectomy show up on a pet scan as suspicious for reoccurrence?

    Is it normal to have a lump-like form(under the surgery line) after months (8months) of removal of fibroadenoma? And will it go away?

    Ma'am, I am having lumps in both my breasts since March 2023, now because I took homeopathy medicine in March, then tried ayurvedic and allopathy also to bind these lumps and then lumps were broken into very small pieces. After leaving medicines, lumps would grow back like before and it would be painful to touch. I don't know what to do, my board exam is going on but I am not able to concentrate 😞
