I enjoy all my surefire lights and I think the simplicity of two outputs is perfect

I do as well but some use cases change the needs for me.

My e1l is hands down one of my favorite lights I have a very early e2l outdoorsman as well with the single mode head @ 65lumens it has the solid 9hr runtime

Ya mine 5/45 and I use the 5L for most of my around the house stuff! I did a video on the usefulness of the 5L based on that light.

I prefer sublumen since my carry is Anduril 2, so I can have a second customizable setting in lockout. I carry an SP10 Pro, which goes down to like 0.02 lumens. That is waaay to low for almost anything, but my lockout high mode is about 0.3 lumens, which I like a lot. I can easily get to higher modes by 3 clicks or twisting the tailcap. So I can get to 0.02 or 0.3 easily.

Ya my HDS goes to .02 which is nice to have for those times you are stuck in a cave for a week :) Really though, I like having the sub lumen low!

My I5r has 15 lumens on low. I find it more usable than the 5 lumens that my i3t has. And the i5r will run 15 lumens for 37 hrs.

That is great! Nothing wrong with more if its regulated. I just find 5lm with a good TIR type optic to be a great usable low.

For me, you can never get enough lumens or candela. You'll be always be able to throw and see from afar, and if you need less light you can always put your thumb or finger over the led and reflect light to the small amount that you need.

Am I the only one who is so annoyed by 5 lumens? its so low. no better than m,y phone

I think there is a caveat…5 lumens in a light like the SF MV is as you say not much better than a phone. However in my other lights with a good TIR type lens it is great. You need that hot spot to make the difference. Also keep in mind it is dependent on your situation as I said. Also I would guess phones are used far more than a regular flashlight so just because the low mode is no brighter does not mean it is not useful :)
