I have the 2nd gen sigma sw9ve I bought it used and I did adjust my trigger like you did. I put around 500 rounds through it not one failure used aluminum ammo to. This is one of the best pistols I own. It is well built I feel the frame is better built then the glocks gen 4 and under. The way it feels in my hands is awesome. The recoil is a little strong but after you get to know it , ts okay. I was pleased am pleased with the accuracy. Cleaning and working on it is easy. I will keep this gun and proubly buy another in the 40. Also mags are interchangeable from the first gen sigma to the newer Sd9ve. 10-32 round mags. Good video!!!!
Thanks! The Sigma is one of those firearms that got a bad reputation when it was released and even though the pistol was improved, it never overcame that reputation. The Current SD line is/are great pistols for a very reasonable price. Their popularity suffers due to their lineage from the Sigma.
Awesome series of videos on the Sigma. I had two Sigmas years ago, a SW9F and (I think this is correct) a SW40F. I got rid of both of them to move into "higher quality" guns but still have a soft spot for the Sigma. Excellent videos, nice plug to the wife "keeping you safe"...and now, I'm looking for an early SW9F to use as a range gun...surely will get lots of looks and comments at the range. I'm already subscribed to your channel and very much enjoy the intelligent reviews you provide.
Great series. I have the 9mm and it has been flawless. I did the spring removal method and haven't had any issues using it for USPSA once last year. I will be adding the Apex kit soon. Thanks.
@@hrfunk Same here the sigma felt so good in hand I bought it , Mine was used and had a wolf spring kit in it. It misfired due to light primer strikes every 2nd or 3rd round stock striker spring and it was flawless. The trigger was back to a heavy pull but that isnt a problem for me as I was trained using dbl action revolvers. I still have it but replaced it with an sd9 that I won at a shoot, however I would feel 100% confident carrying the thing to this day.
I fell into the category of people that you spoke of in the first video. I transitioned from pistols to my first semi-auto, a 9mm SIGMA. I didn't think the trigger pull was horrible at all. Just for grins and giggles I swapped out a spring in the trigger assembly that was a popular thing to do according to several TH-cam sites. It was a $20 spring. It did reduce the trigger pull a bit, but like you stated, it was no lightening trigger. I thought the gun was a great bargain and a great reliable semi-auto to start with. I have since moved on to numerous M&Ps, a Beretta M9A1, CZ-75C etc... My youngest brother is now the proud owner of the SIGMA. 👍👍
They are very underrated pistols. The SD version made today is the latest evolution. They have a few other enhancements, but essentially they are the same as the older pistols. Thanks for watching!
Bought mine in 94, thousands of rounds and only the slide stop has given me a couple of hiccups. But my M&P in 9mm IMO a far better shooter. Good series
The Sigma series has a rough beginning but they evolved into pistols that were better than they were given credit for. You’re right, the M&P is a better design, but the Sigma (and the current SD Line) are perfectly serviceable . Thanks for watching.
I have a Sigma SW9v that was purchased new around October 1997. I acquired it through private sale ($0.00). It has the rectangular firing pin and five mags. Trigger pull is 7 pounds. In 25 years ,I've shot it twice. I like this Sigma SW9v. It's never malfunctioned. My c
I should mention I'm a revolver man. My late Dad was a Police Officer from 1949-1981 in Boston. I worked at Harrington & Richardson during the Vietnam contracts. I still carry a H&R Premier 32 and a Victor 38sw in Constitutional Carry Maine. Like I said my Dad liked the 1997 Sigma SW9V the few times he used it.
It's a great pistol especially for the money. I have the sigmas both in 9mm and in .40. It is a heavy trigger pull but from what I've heard, the heavy trigger pull acts almost like a safety. I'm on the fence between leaving it stock and getting the apex trigger job done. What are your thoughts??
I think the Apex trigger is a worthwhile upgrade. The stock trigger is a little too heavy. Otherwise, as you said, they are solid performers for the price.
my daughter has a sd9ve with the Apex spring kit now she likes it.lol. you seem to have a nice channel and are a good cop, wish all was fair like you are. i subbed your channel.
+MegaBait56 Thanks for the sub, and the comments! I'm glad you like my channel, also be assured there are a lot of Police Officers out there like me. They are all dedicated men and women trying their best to do a difficult job. I just happen to be the one who's a firearms fan with a youtube channel.
hrfunk Thanks. I just watched your SD9VE video. Being the garden-variety gun owner I will probably leave my trigger on my SW9VE till I am more experienced. Thanks for your expertise. Your videos are very helpful.

Thanks! Glad you liked the videos!
The grip angle of that pistol was very well engineered and smith and wesson spent lots of time to get it right ....
I agree. It always fit my hand and pointed very naturally for me.

Where can I get some extra magazines for 40 cal. sigma as I have looked every where.
I believe they take the same magazines as the SD pistols that are in current production.
Thank you for the Sigma videos. Do you think the stiffer trigger, without the trigger job, adds a safety feature since there is no safety?
simsfamilydaddy I think that was its original intended purpose.

simsfamilydaddy You're welcome. I glad to have helped.
hrfunk One more question...which defensive 9mm ammo do you prefer?
simsfamilydaddy It's pretty much a tie between Winchester Ranger and Speer Gold Dot. Federal HST is also very good.
Ol 40 running like a top... triggers can be gotten used too.
But if the pistol aint accurate or reliable then you aint got a pistol at all.
Volume sound is too low.
