My father had an NDE having contracted spinal meningitis in boot camp before being deployed to fight in the Pacific in WWII. I grew up hearing my father tell the story of his NDE. When he was in hospice my father and I talked about it and because of this experience and the knowing it brought to him he had a peaceful, fearless, painless passing. His example has been a great gift to me and to those who were with him. Thank you Dr. Moody for all your years of work and for bringing the stories of these experiences to the general public. I agree that the question of life after death is THE big question. I feel and hope that humanity is approaching an evolutionary leap which will give us a more expanded awareness and connection to consciousness.

It wasn’t hearing totally..but I understood her to be communicating with someone in her family..who’d died earlier.....(she’d stopped talking altogether nearly 2 weeks earlier.). In Buddhism, consciousness separates from body at death. In a very simple form, Buddha recognised 6 senses, eye, ears, nose, tongue/mouth, touch sensation ( body) and mind. According to Buddhism consciousness is a stream of mental experiences ( thoughts, feelings etc) , when physical body dies it separates itself and try to latch on to a new body ( an embryo). That’s how reincarnation keep happening. According to Buddha consciousness is driven by cravings. If interested listen to bikku bodhi lecture series

Dr. Moody I had a NDE aged 7 through drowning, I am 50 now. It was my choice to return and I have regretted it every day. Until recently I was a palliative care nurse, and I know death is just the beginning. I have shared so much with anyone I nursed. I am afraid to die now, but only because my own choices will take me to a different place to were I went when I was 7 years old. Thank you for all you do, and please keep on keeping on. I hope my short post, makes people think about their choices. Have you heard from people who have had a negative or frightening NDE ?

Sheila, I have found around a third of all NDEs, (30%) of hellish NDEs. Usually are under reported for a lot of reasons, one key is because can increase the fear of death (I do not suscribe the idea), stigma associated with the experience, etc. I never understood why the hellish NDE is put under the carpet, because is one of the most educational NDEs you can imagine. Life is clearly an endless adventure, death is as dramatic as life, but there is nothing to be afraid about dying, just consider that the real problem is what we do with our life, I have seen people that had a hellish NDE and it was a blessing for them, is more about what we do with the experience than the experience itself. If you want to known a lot about the hellish NDE, then take a look to the work of Nancy Evans Bush, Dancing past the dark website, her books and her outstanding life, it will help you a lot. I hope you overcome your regret about coming back, and start again the incredible journey of existence, it is worth it. Best regards from 6500 miles away, here the hellish are not NDEs, hellish is just to wake up and start the day every day until the bitter end, still enjoying the experience of being conscious, is just a station in an infinite voyage.

If you just remember from this point on... do everything with *LOVE* - then you have more than a fighting chance of "redeeming" yourself. As long as you are breathing, you can make a difference: In your life, as well as others. Be as loving, kind, and patient as you can with everyone you meet. I truly believe God is a loving and merciful God, and does not want to see you suffer at all. He knows we make mistakes; and that's all part of living. Call on him, on Jesus, on the angels (or the deities you worship), and just confide in him; be open and honest with him about your regret, shame, fears, etc. He can hear you. And I do truly believe you are already forgiven. I am sending love. ❤️

I had an NDE in 2007. After that miracles happened and also to others. The deeper wisdom which completed my search to the same feeling and what I have been seen is now shared by Dr. & Master Zhi Gang Sha and also by Tao Science from Dr. Rulin Xiu. Divine plan is brilliant. We are all sent to awaken others that we are not our bodies. But also these lower vibrations of shame, fear, jugdement needs to be transformed within an human being, because the earth is resonating also with human beings. I have seen that we are responsible for what we think, speak or do and how it affacts the surroundings, nature and the earth. SOLVE DUALITY, war, natural disasters and begin within you. And since the UNIVERSE had a beginning...that means it is not eternal. A something caused the universe to begin. I had one very weird and unexplainable event very long ago which I remember till this day.
I felt uncomfortable with this event, since I'm an atheist and materialist from very young age, despite my parents were always religious and unsuccessfully tried to "educate" me as such.

Our son committed suicide in October 2021. We were devastated, but not without hope. Shortly before he died, he told me that he really missed his grandaddy, my father. On the morning of August 13, 2022, I heard him say ‘Mom’. No message, just “Mom’. I made a note of it on my calendar. After a few weeks passed, I realized that he had contacted me on my Dad’s 105th birthday. I have a friend who lost her son in a car accident around the same time. She heard from him as well. Yes, we continue on.

I find this depressing and confusing and if anything, it reinforces a faith that we need to make our peace in this world; we know where certain folk are, we just need to pick up the phone or visit! It's the only certainty.

Great conversation. I just want to add, the brain is not a physical substance at all. Like the rest of the "physical" world its an experience we have, an image composed of colors moving across our screen of perception and so on. Even within a materialist framework it would be nothing like the thing in itself. Its a superficial image and that's the reason we can never see another persons experiences, or propose a model of consciousness emerging from it.
The brain is an image within consciousness of more consciousness. Its just an experience. Its just an image. Its regular and predictable and we call it the physical world.

I believe the primary reason why no one seems to take NDEs seriously is because of how personal experiences and memory clash with objective verification. If someone has an NDE and recounts details that only people in the immediate vicinity could verify, then the experience will be real only to everyone involved. As soon as the experience is reported, it will be classified as "anecdotal evidence" as the skeptic or whoever the experience is being reported to will have a plethora of reasons to doubt the story and no way to verify it. However, this is also why the skeptic's arguments are completely invalid since he/she wasn't at the time of the experience, to begin with. People often forget that science deals in a statistically significant recurrence of events. That doesn't prove your experiences are inconsequential, merely that there's probably a lot out there that's not being studied simply because the researchers cannot answer a 10 page list of could've and should've.

It's because humanity is in the dark ages. That's why they ignore the truth in favor of materialism and communism. They use science to suit stuff so it can fit the narrative. Like the big bang and global warming for example. They only want you to be scared and fear monger.

Raymond, I too have a PhD (in Philosophy of Mind), and I just wanted to communicate with you. Apart from being an unquestionably super-nice guy, and an honest one, you are genuine about your experiences. I had an OOBE many years ago, just out of the blue. It wasn't near death, but it was as I was waking up in an awkward position, experiencing sleep paralysis.
It was the most vivid experience of being outside my body, but the one frustration over the years since then has been that I cannot actually prove, even to myself, that it was not a hallucination. I wish I could get over that final hurdle and join you as a 100% convert, but there we are. How could I actually be sure...?

Consciousness is eternal like our universe. It cannot be created or destroyed. Consciousness evolves over millions or even billions or trillions of years through reincarnation until you become intelligent and reincarnate as intelligent life until you become a immortal god race and helps others. Humanity needs to unite together that's the whole point.

What a wonderful, wise man Dr. Raymond Moody is - I am German and I remember very well one of his first books I use to read - while I´ve first started working as a geriatric nurse and I´ve always been so afraid of the death from those older people I use to care for. He is really a gift to the world - hope to meet him in the afterlife, one day, after I´ve left this planet earth here.

  • @zzc8505

I have much respect for Dr. Moody and his work, but have to respectfully disagree: his children were certainly conditioned. Children are like sponges, esp. when they learn new skills and watch for the adults’ feedback. If they were joking about his baby blabbering that it sounded like Chinese, there is no way it didn’t get stuck in his mind, most likely subconsciously. And then, by the time he was old enough to say that, the reincarnation ideas have been firmly settled in our popular culture.
As for his adopted daughter, she obviously knew about her origin and learned/read about her heritage/common beliefs (even if she didn’t purposefully explored it, some of the most common beliefs including the kind she mentioned can be found in popular culture as well).
In general, no reincarnation account can be verification the way many NDEs are. And most reincarnation accounts are conditioned. The very fact that when these topics began to be discussed, reincarnation stories came from the areas with reincarnation beliefs, while NDEs of a non-reincarnation type were found in quite diverse countries.

I feel he is a black mark on the NDE community, I won't go into what I found out easliy on the internet through different articles about Eben, but it is most disingenuous on his part. i believe in NDE's whole heartedly and love Dr Moody, but I wonder why he is tangled up with Dr Alexander. Like I said it isn't my job to discount his story, but I say look into Eben Alexander yourself and be free from your own pre conceived ideas about him. He is a man, he is not the experience.

[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back
    100
That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.
    101
So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.
    102
And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful.
    103
But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally.
    104
The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles.
    105
[It will be said]. "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them?"
    106
They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.
    107
Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."
    108
He will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me.
    109
Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'
    110
But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.
    111
Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]." Great Quran
